"Hotel Review of the Ocean Promenade Hotel White Rock"

Stayed at this hotel on the first night of a road trip to LA. We had two rooms
with two double beds in each. The first rooms we were allocated were not
suitable for our needs and ou rooms were changed without any fuss or bother at
all.
The rooms had a partial view of the water, whereas the rooms at the front of the
hotel would have full water views. The rooms were tastefully decorated and had a
big flat-screen TV which was appreciated by the kids.
One room had a full kitchen which was well appointed and stocked. The bathrooms
were roomy and contained quality toiletries. The hotel also offers free internet
and a heated underground parking.
I was impressed by the front desk staff who went out of their way to help us.
Though the beachside is a little bleak in late December it was still nice to
walk down the promenade and look at the shops. Several excellent eating
establishments are close by.

We stayed at this hotel the night before we had a memorial service for an uncle.
After viewing the reviews, we were looking forward to our stay. We had lived in
Vancouver but were not too familiar with White Rock. Our experience was soured
right from the beginning. The front desk staff were indifferent even when asked
for a restaurant recommendation. The room was nice. The kitchen was updated, the
bathroom was very nice, and the ice machine was close by. The balcony was huge,
with a nice view. However, the view for the room next door was our balcony and
the ocean in the distance. One of the guests next door opened the window to have
a chat with us.
We travel a lot and have stayed in many places, but apart from the nice view and
updated kitchen, this hotel experience was very average.July 18, 2009
Stayed here for one night during Canada Day Holiday week.
Because of late booking (2 days notice), could only get a "Studio with
sofa-bed". The way I understand it, this hotel consists of all 1 bedroom and
2-bedroom suites. But the suites are laid out so that the bedrooms can be rented
out separately as standard hotel rooms. The rooms with "two queen beds" are
really the bedrooms of the 1 bedroom suites and the "king rooms" are one of the
rooms of the 2-bedroom suites. (The king rooms have no view and look against
another building)
In our case we stayed in the living room/kitchen area of a 1-bedroom suit with
the sofa bed to sleep on. The sofa bed was good for a sofa bed, but obviously
not the same as a normal bed. We slept well but heavier folks might be
uncomfortable. We had access to the balcony, which indeed was right in front of
the window of the bedroom of the same suite, rented out to others at the time.
If you rent the entire suite, this should not be an issue. The very large
balcony had lawn furniture to easily seat 4.
The hotel is truly beautiful and very nicely decorated. I would say it only
doesn't get four stars because it has no amenities, such as onsite restaurants,
room service, pool or spa. The rooms definitely qualify for a higher star rating
in my opinion. |

We have booked a number of rooms in our day sight unseen and a lot of those
rooms were really not what was advertised! But at the Ocean Promenade, we were
very pleasantly surprised by the very nice size of the room, the cleanliness,
the friendly staff.....and being right across the street from the beach! The
town of White Rock is a great place to stay a while! We had booked for 1 night
but booked another just because it was such a wonderful community and so many
shops and restaurants within walking distance. We were going to stay in
Vancouver originally but changed our minds and stayed at this great hotel. To do
over again, it will absolutely be at the Ocean Promenade! |

We stayed just one night but enjoyed our stay. Smooth check in and secured
parking added to the cozy and tasteful room with fireplace.

Our 1 night stay at the Ocean Promenade Hotel was wonderful. Check-in was
excellent and we were upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite with a wonderful view for a
nominal charge. The parking garage is very bright and secure. The hotel and
suite was very clean. The view from the suite was beautiful, looking out to the
bay/White Rock beach. The suite kitchen had a full fridge, microwave, sink and
stove top for cooking. The bed was very comfortable. The washroom could have
been better...shower just ok, light was buzzing and blinking and shelf was
loose....although the washroom floors were heated, very nice after a shower. The
check-out was slow (new employee)...otherwise our stay was wonderful.
I would recommend the Ocean Promenade when staying in White Rock. |
