Our trip to Whistler was to experience the skiing and what the Canadian
wilderness offers at that time of year. Not to be disappointed, it's
everything your neighbour has been telling you. Yet the most surprising
experience was our stay at The Pan Pacific Hotel at Whistler. This was
as wonderful as anything surrounding it. The location on the mountain
with the views of Whistler and Blackcomb and the convenience to the
gondolas could not have been better. The service, to the friendly"
hello" and "how was your day" is sincere. The room, well how would you
say perfect any other way. The down comforters, the fireplace, the
details and yes the constant reminder that this is certainly a place to
return to

We stayed at the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre last week and loved
every minute of it. As is stated by many reviews here, the hotel is
about a 5 minute walk through the village to the base of Blackcomb and
Whistler Mountains. Doesn't even seem that long if you ask me. The
resort is awesome. We arrived and immediately had a bellman there
helping us unload our vehicles and valet our vehicles to the parking
garage. Valet is free which helps considering you are paying $25 a day
for parking...per vehicle. The bellmen even took my board over to the
sister Pan Pacific Hotel at the base of the Mountain(s) so I didn't have
to carry it through town. They have a locker room at the sister hotel
with lockers for guests to hold their sking or snowboarding items. Only
suggestion would be to make sure you get the locker combination from the
bellman so you can get into the locker. Got to the locker the first day
to ski and didn't have the combination. Mind you the bellman from the
Mountainside resort was quick to grab it for me and off I went.
Initial impression was wow. We were in a 2 bedroom suite and it was very
spacious and pretty well stocked with almost everything we could
possibly need. Our friends had the master suite and my wife and I and
our 1 year old had the other room. We were able to put up our daughters
playpen in the bedroom for her to sleep in and still had room to move
around. The master was a bit bigger than our room but we had access to
the patio from our room so nice little trade off. Now for the
downside...not that there are anything to stop you from going but just
some things we noticed. The door to the bathroom is a pocket slide door
so it's a little pain and the 2nd bedroom doors are double doors that
catch at the top to keep closed. Kinda made it hard to shut doors at
night to let little one go to sleep while we stayed up without waking
her when we finally went to bed. Now onto what I would consider the
worst part of the hotel.....the in room internet. While there is a
wireless connection as well as a wired one, connecting to the "High
Speed" internet is a joke. The connection comes up with 5 bars and says
it's excellent however the speed makes 10 year ago dial-up look like
cable internet speeds. This wouldn't be so much of an issues except
there is a charge to use the business center computers which if you're
paying the amount you're paying for the room you shouldn't have to pay
for use of the business center. Especially when you're just checking
email. Other than this minor problem we were more than happy with the
Pan Pacific.
On a side note the staff went well above the service I would expect. My
daughter came down with a double ear infection and we had to find a
urgent care to take her to, to have them diagnose her. The staff helped
us find a facility and even drove my wife and her over and picked them
up when they were done. I was loved the treatment they gave us.
As for the village, as would be expected prices are a tad bit inflated.
But if you look you can find some deals. There are 2 grocery stores in
the village. One is on the way to the lifts...expensive. The other IGA
or IPA as I kept calling it for what reason I don't know....maybe I
needed a beer? Is over at the other end of the village and the prices
are a little better...not much but a little. There is also a clearance
store by the first grocery store in the corner that has really good
deals on Whistler apparel and equipment. The Hot Dog stand next to the
Black Pub at the base of the mountain is great. The Black pub had good
food. Not so great food or service at the Longhorn Bar & Grill.
All in all a very nice resort and village. You'll have a blast.
Enjoy!!!! :)Hotel Review of the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre

We had high expectations of this hotel as it was rated highly in most of their
reviews - we were not disappointed. Our room was clean and very comfortable, and
the staff were always friendly and accommodating. It was very handy that we had
access to the sports locker room at the PPW Mountainside as at the end of a day
of skiing, we only had to lug our ski gear a short distance to the Mountainside
location. The hot breakfast was a great way to start the day and complimentary
internet and shuttle service was also a great bonus. Would definitely stay here
again.

Stayed at village centre for a ski trip in Jan 2010 and have to say wow! Room
was unbelievable, huge, loads of storage and really well equipped. Staff were
amazingly helpful and cheery at all times no matter what the query. This is the
best hotel I have ever stayed at and I will rush back next year.
Cannot reccomend highly enough.

This was one of my favorite hotels EVER, and we have traveled quite a bit. I
believe that if people find something wrong with this hotel it is either A) a
completely isolated incident or B) They simply can't be happy anywhere. We loved
this hotel and Whistler.
I will start with the hotel.
1. The staff and management are simply the best I have seen. We have stayed at
Fairmont, Westin, etc and NONE can compare. Everyone was so very polite and
helpful (this is true for the entire workforce we encountered while in Whister,
from hotel, to slopes, to restaurants....The American service industry really
could take note!! Especially NYC, but that's another story.). I truly believe
the best way to learn the "secrets" of a town is through the locals. Do yourself
a favor and get to know your ski instructor, bartender, waiter, hotel font desk
manager, etc. They are a wealth of knowledge.
2. The location. It is wonderful. Right in the village, but not in the big
hustle and bustle. That is a 5 minute walk away, so it is a little quieter, and
we loved the quiet after a long day of falling down a mountain on a snowboard.
The Pan Pacific Mountainside is where all the hectic action is, but again, if
that's your thing, it's a short walk away.
3. Ski Valet at the Pan Pacific Mtnside. Yes, just walk over to the sister
hotel, go to your own locker, grab your stuff and hit the slopes. YOu are right
there.
4. FREE morning breakfast. THis is HUGE for families, but it was a big deal for
my husband and i too. Crawled out of bed and headed down to the buffet. Had
EVERYTHING on it, eggs, bacon, pastries, juice, etc....
5. Manager's reception from 4-5:00. Sounds corny, but we went a few nights. Free
cocktail, hot chocolate, hot cookie and a snack. Our snack was mac and cheese
one afternoon and a bowl of chili the other. We really did talk to the managers
and learned some secrets of traveling. I will keep those to myself. :-) Haley
was our server, she was adorable and offered us tips on skiing the mountain.
6. The room was perfect. Very clean, comfy bed. Nice kitchen. NIce little
balcony, but a little too cold to enjoy it.
Now, my take on Whistler. If you haven't ever been, you are in for a treat. It's
like a make-believe, quaint little village. Walk everywhere through the village.
Restaurants and shops galore. Everyone, EVERYONE, we met was so friendly. Keep
in mind we are from Alabama and will talk to a wall, so maybe that helped us a
little, but seriously, people were so helpful. I can not comment on the skiing
too much as we just learned to snowboard while we were out there. We were in ski
school for 3 days and the instructors were great. I found snowboarding difficult
to learn but by our 4th day, we seemed to be getting the hang of it, until i
fell on ice and broke my wrist. Another story, but wear those wrist guards.
All in all i give PPWV a GOLD star and Whistler is a fantastic way to spend your
holiday.

What a pleasure, what a great time we had in this hotel. Imagine we arrived at
08.00 am. An early check-in was no problem. We were even upgraded to another
room (as the view on the fire station was not the most pleasant one…). The rooms
are so well equipped. A separate bed room with a comfortable bed and lots of
pillows. A bathroom with shower, bath and nice Aveda products (including bath
crystals). A living room with a gas fire and a comfortable sofa/bed. What a
view! We enjoyed cooking our meals in the perfectly equipped kitchen (the market
place with fresh products is in walking distance) and loved to have dinners in
our cosy room. The complimentary Breakfast is a joy too. Both the continental as
the hot (we were lucky that the season started and the buffet was also including
egg, bacon and lot’s of other nicely prepared morning dishes). Ok, the swimming
pool was not working but the sauna and hot tubs did. Very nice after a good work
out in the small but ok equipped gym. A late check out? Also not a problem.
Maybe the season has not started yet but we would recommend this place to every
one. It was great! Thanks so much!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in early November. It was very quiet time
and we saw only few other customers. Pool was not in use because of the heating
problem. There was another pool available in different hotel but it is not the
same. Hot tub and sauna were available and hot tub was nice but the sauna was
not good and did not heat up enough. We had two room apartment and it was good
and spacious. Bed was very comfy and the bathroom had both shower and tub. I
would imagine this would be great apartment for two in winter season with all
your winter gear. There were two TV’s but the one in the living room was in a
cabinet just beside the fire place and the doors did not open well. Only few
places in sofa were good enough to watch TV. The rooms are exactly like in hotel
photos. There is a good complimentary breakfast with coffee, fruits, bagels,
cheese and ham as well as sweet pastry. I would stay here again and will
recommend this to anyone looking for modern, well-located 4 star hotel in
Whistler.

First, know that there are two Pan Pacific hotels in Whistler. One is right by
the lifts ('Mountainside') and this one a few blocks farther away. This location
isn't necessarily inconvenient though as Whistler Village is quite compact and
pedestrian friendly.
The facility itself is nice enough. Rooms are a decent size with the usual
amenities expected of a chain hotel of this star rating. Beds are adequate. No
flat panel TVs, just old tube TVs and a DVD player is attached. The windows
open. Our room had a toasty fireplace and mini kitchenette. HVAC is quite loud.
Buffet breakfast is included in some rates but never bothered to check it out as
there's other great breakfast spots in the Village. Free wifi (password
protected) but coverage is spotty and speeds are slow (can't reliably stream
Youtube videos). Luckily, wired connection available.

A must for Whistler Village; great room; great free breakfast and simply the
best staff I have ever come across. Voted the best in Whistler and more than
lives up to it.
Hotel Review of the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre
Nov 2, 2009
The Pan Pacific Whistler village centre is well located, right on the edge of
the pedestrian zone of the village. This means that shops and restaurants in the
lower village are easily accessible, while the upper village is just a few
minutes walk away across the day car parks. The Whistler mountain lifts are 5
mins or so walk away. This was fine as we were visiting in September, but
probably isn't as desirable if you are staying during ski season.
With respect to parking, we had a hire car with us during our stay, which we
parked in the under ground car park of the hotel. This was booked in our rate
and worked out at about $10 a day which seemed reasonable, however, it is
normally around £25 dollars which is quite expensive. Most locations within
Whistler are walkable, and we only used the car to access places outside of the
village, such as Brandywine Falls.
Rooms
We booked a studio suite, however, having reviewed the room descriptions on the
hotel website, it appears what we actually got was a one bedroom suite. The room
was large, with a bathroom, bedroom and separate living/kitchen area. The
bathroom had a separate bath and shower, large marble worktop around the sink
and good storage space. The aveda toiletries were also very much appreciated!
The bedroom was nicely designed with a single wardrobe on each side of the bed
and the bed itself was very comfortable.
The kitchen area, which was part of the living area, was very clean and seemed
well equipped with a large fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher along with
what appeared to be a good selection of glassware, plates and utensils. However,
we only used the kitchen area for drinks.
The living area itself had good seating, a gas fire, and nicely concealed tv and
dvd player. Unfortunately the hotel itself doesn't have any dvds and while there
is a dvd rental store in the village we found it didn't have a great selection.
The room also had a small balcony, overlooking the front entrance of the hotel,
which could be accessed from either the bedroom or living room.
Food
The hotel only provides breakfast, which is served in a pleasant room beside the
pool area and includes some seating outside. The breakfast is continental, with
cereal, bread, pastries and a good selection of fruit along with tea, coffee and
fruit juice. The staff monitored the food closely through out the morning and
always acted promptly to replenish items. This room also doubles as a bar area,
which is open through out the day to serve drinks by the pool but closes around
8pm in the evening. Being part of the pedestrian area in the village though, the
hotel has a good selection of restaurants with in a few minutes walk.
Facilities
The hotel has a pool area with a lap pool and hot tub. The pool, which was
exceptionally clean, is really aimed at adults who want to swim, as opposed to
children to splash about in. The pool area is accessed via a gym which I didn't
use. There is also a laundry room in the hotel, which comes in very handy when
on a longer holiday.
Value for money
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and found the staff to be friendly,
helpful and well informed. Being off season, we got a rate of $170 a night
including tax, which included breakfast and parking and offered exceptional
value for a hotel of this standard. We look forward to having the opportunity to
stay here again!
