Hotel Review of the Whistler Village Inn & Suites

We had booked a double queen room, with a balcony and mountain view. We got
that.... with an even better view of three large smelly garbage dumpsters. When
I called the desk to tell them that was totally unacceptable, they resolved the
issue quickly, and to my satisfaction, in fact, giving us an upgrade to a queen
loft suite. It was a lovely room, very clean, and the hotel is in a fabulous
location. Staff were helpful and gracious. I would suggest that the dumpsters be
moved to a location that is not directly under a guest room. I can't be the
first person who had issues with that!

We stayed here for one night and unfortunately the weather wasn't good, so we
spent more time than usual in the room. Frustratingly though we couldn't check
in until 4pm, which seemed late. The room was very spacious for two people, with
an indoor hot tub just down the corridor. It was clean with a good sized
en-suite and drinks facilities.
Despite this the place did lack personality, and the split site, with the
outdoor tub and pool being in a different building was a little frustrating.
the main issue for us was an incredibly disturbed nights sleep, with ridiculous
amounts of noise coming from upstairs. The reception staff were very apologetic
the next day, and were going to look into it- but said other guests had
complained but no action appeared to have been taken
In view of the additional charge for parking it did feel a bit expensive in
comparison to elsewhere we'd stayed, especially as there was no breakfast
included but maybe that is just Whistler. Having said that it was off season so
we shouldn't have been paying peak room rates.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. I was with my family and we were
already for the excitement of whistler. When we first walked in I was a
little shaken, the entrance to the underground parking was right in the
lobby .You could actually see and hear the cars pulling in! The lady at
the front desk was very kind and welcoming, which calmed my nerves, but
when I saw the elevator I asked myself what I had gotten myself into.As
we got off the rickety carpeted elevator, my heart sunk a little deeper.
The hallways were dirty and dark. The light bulbs looked dead. Our door
was all beat up. As I helped my husband with the luggage my daughter
explored the room. She came back with a horrified look on her face. She
said,`` Mum, the bed comes out of the wall`. After we were done with the
luggage my daughter and I went to relax in the pool. Ugh, it was grimy
and filled with leaves, hair and dead bugs. There were drunk 25 year
olds every where swearing their heads off. We left immediately. That
night we ate at The Keg, which was adjoined to the hotel, then retired
to our uncomfortable bed. The only thing this hotel has going for it is
it's location. I will never go back here again!

Great location in the heart of the village
Room was fine, though it smelled a little like cigarette smoke. Our
travel companions were put in the other building which was strange since
we made the reservations at the same time. And, the parking garage was
full, so we had to wait for a space to open up. Other than that, it was
as expected and a good value.

I’ll go back, but not with my $$$ bike.
I’ve stayed here several times, and have always enjoyed my stay. This
time however, my cargo included a number of high end bikes, and I wasn’t
happy with the security of the storage area for them. Bikes are not
allowed in the hotel rooms, but have a designated cage in the
underground parking. We of course put locks on the bikes when we put
them in this cage, and the door is accessed with your room key. However,
other users would leave the door open, and this, coupled with a complete
lack of a surveillance, left me pretty uncomfortable.

OK but not great
Excellent location and overall good service. Hotel needs a handyman to
go room to room and fix small items.
