Hotel Review of the Four Seasons Hotel Whistler
Jan 23, 2010
I’ve stayed at every other hotel in Whistler, and now I simply won’t stay
anywhere else. They really do make you feel like royalty. Here are just a few
points I can remember –
The front desk staff were incredibly helpful, suggesting things to do OTHER than
skiing. Next time we will take them up on their offers.
The restaurant was fantastic, probably the best steak I’ve ever had. The
Sommelier was extremely knowledgeable about local wines, we had a wine tasting
in the Bar for après, very classy! Our server at dinner suggested different
wines to go with our chosen entrees, the way we talked to her it was very easy
to like her. She told us we would not be disappointed if we shared the 15 layer
chocolate cake to finish, and we definitely weren’t! I e-mailed them once we
left, asking for the recipe for it, that’s how good it was!
The Bar was cool too. Live music on 3 of the nights we were there. Sitting at
the bar and having Kareem build us drinks was the tastiest way we have ever
gotten so drunk!
We went to the pool everyday, a great place to soak our sore muscles after
skiing all day. Paul was so nice, a very happy chap as we called him! We had a
Bloody Edison and I fear that no other Bloody Mary will ever live up to it, so
so delicious. The manager served us chocolate chip cookies and brownies on the
hour, a special touch. It was really nice that he gave us some tips on where
else to eat since we had already dined in their restaurant twice, everyone
should visit the Rim Rock.
We ordered Room Service for breakfast. Mini croissants and pastries, tasted just
like when we were living in Switzerland. We ordered them everyday for the rest
of our stay!
Those were just some of the highlights of our stay, we will absolutely be going
back.

Loved this hotel. Staff were very attentive. Great pool. Shuttle service to the
village was handy.

We really enjoyed this beautiful hotel and visit to Whistler. Hotel room for our
family of four was great. We had a suite which included a cozy fireplace and a
beautiful view. Everything from our reception upon arrival was great. Requests
were quickly taken care of, hypo-allergenic pillows, rollaways, slippers all
very quickly brought in. Pool and hot tub were great with drinks served. S'mores
by the fire outside at dusk were a big hit with our kids as well as the Wii game
room. We enjoyed the cozy bar - although the first night the food service was
very slow- this really improved on subsequent nights.
Couple tips regarding utilizing the ski concierge: Initially we did not realize
we were so close and could quickly walk over to concierge so we used the shuttle
which actually seemed to take longer. After the first day we just walked back
and forth, very easy and nice walk plus time to enjoy the hot cocoa! Also- if
you have children that will go to ski school we found it much easier to use
Blackcomb rather than Whistler, simply because we could walk the kids over
instead of loading up all the gear, clomping around in boots and shuttling over.
The kids were equally pleased with the snowboard schools- instructors were
great. The ski concierge was very friendly and eager to help. We were there the
week before Christmas and started off with no crowds which slowly grew- ski
concierge became extremely busy, but the attendants worked so hard to be helpful
and take care of us. Hot cocoa and warm cookies were a big hit with our kids,
although when it was at it's peak busy time cookies were gone!
Only minor issue we had was during the busy, busy mad dash for breakfast. The
dining room fills quickly in the morning. Be sure to get there early, by 7 am to
get a seat. Overflow was directed to one of the ballrooms for an extension of
the buffet. Didn't like that as much, but I have to really compliment the staff
as they tired really hard to meet everyone's needs. It might be a good idea to
have an extra chef on hand to cook eggs to order, etc. as the wait was quite
long. The manager on duty was very gracious and comp'd our children's breakfast.

My husband and I stayed at the Four Seasons and absolutely loved it! We travel
frequently and feel that this is literally the nicest room we have every had. We
loved the design and space. Our walk-in closet was larger than our kitchen back
home! The service was incredible as well and we would love to stay there again.
I highly recommend it as a hidden gem in B.C.

We had a lovely stay the the Four Seasons Whistler for six nights. All aspects
were outstanding except the restaurant "Bistro." the atmosphere in the
restaurant is excellent, but the timing is horrible and the food is good, but
not excellent. We ate at the Bistro 3 times, once for lunch and twice for
dinner. Each time, the restaurant was not at all crowded, yet the wait for the
food was excessive. The last evening I ordered the beef tenderloin and my wife
ahi tuna. by the time the dishes arrived, my wife's tuna was cold, but my beef
acceptable. I am not sure what the problem is, but attention to the restaurant
could round out this fabulous hotel with superb service.

On a special bed and breakfast package booked by our family to celebrate my
husband's 75th birthday, in a virtually empty hotel, we were given a small. dark
room overlooking the front entrance with no view of the mountains that make
Whistler famous. It was obvious they knew before we booked in that this was a
special occasion as we found a card in the room with some small cakes. Yet no
effort had been made to provide us with a decent room. We were the only people
in the restaurant for breakfast on the Sunday morning which might explain the
lack of the promised breakfast buffet and finally we were charged $32 for
parking. We left after the first night instead of paying for a second night
ourselves as we originally planned.

Lets face it, by many standards Whistler is expensive. A very average bottle of
wine in a liquor store is 3 to 4 times more expensive than we would pay in the
UK. Go into a steakhouse have a starter and main for two with any reasonable
wine and you are talking CAD 140 to 150 including tip. So what's that got to do
with Four Seasons, Whistler? Simply that although both resort and hotel are at
the high end of expense compared to say Banff, Alberta, both are EXCELLENT.
We have just returned, literally, to the UK after a 22 hr journey and my wife
and I were so pleased with what Four Seasons delivered that we both thought we
should shout out loud what a great hotel we found it to be. (Again, because we
had returned after a great experience last year!)
Cutting to the chase it is all about service and the service levels we
experienced were SUPERB! There was a conference in the hotel for the first few
days of our stay so it was pretty busy. You would not have known this from the
service that was delivered. One night we went to eat in the restaurant but had
not reserved. It was full. Table in the bar sir? Service from he full menu? NO
PROBLEM! Food was excellent, on time and my mother could have fed three from the
amount of meat I had on my plate.
To the guys on the shuttle, the guys and gals at the Ski Concierge, the guys who
delivered our Apres Ski drink to the outdoor hot tub, in fact to all the staff
at Four Seasons Whistler .........Thanks for making our stay memorable. We'll be
back. Thanks for the quote Arnie! |
