Hotel Review of the
Cascade Lodge Whistler
Feb 9, 2011
We were moved from Glaciers Reach by Resort Quest to this hotel after
being given a disappointing room....
The room we were given was 511... the room itself was spacious with a
kitchenette and balcony.... the decor wasn't exactly updated (although
there was a 40in flat screen tv and dvd player), but it was nice enough
and everything was very clean and tidy.... the balcony just looks out on
to some trees, but that was all we wanted so long as we could sit and
drink our Naked Grape wine out there!! If you looked right up to the
right during the day, you would get a glimpse of mountain.....
The staff at checkin and thoughout our stay were very helpful and
friendly.... the hotel was great for our purpose - it was just across
the road from the bus loop/village centre and they had pool facilities
etc... and the fact we had a kitchenette/dining area in our room meant
we could chill out in the room after a hard days skiing! Whistler is
great for wating our etc, but it was nice to have the eat in option on a
couple of the nights!
We were impressed by this hotel and would def recommend to anyone
wanting to stay in Whistler without paying crazy prices (we had to pay
an upgrade fee of £100 for our 5 night stay, but it was absolutely more
than worth it!)

We loved the Cascade lodge - fantastic location, extremely clean rooms,
and it was great having the kitchen and washing machine. The hot tub was
great (there are actually 2, but 1 wasnt working for the duration of our
5 day stay). I can't comment on the price as we purchased a package
through Whistler Blackcomb which included the lift tickets. Maid service
is completed on the fourth day for stays that are more than 5 days. We
personally liked being able to leave for the day knowing no one would be
in our room, it made it feel more like home. It was a pleasure staying
here. Maybe the lift noise depends on what room you get - we didn't hear
a thing, and the bed was very comfortable. We had a great sleep here.

We stayed here for a few days and had to move. The sound of the elevator
could be heard loud and clear in our room day and night. It just did not
stop. We were moved thankfully to another hotel.
The layout of the rooms and the size were great. Location good only a 10
minute walk to the lifts. Views from this room are wonderful---toward
the mountain and village. The only problem was the noise----it wasn't
steady and you could hear the mechanics of the elevator clear as a bell.
We actually did not hear too many people in the hall ways---it was the
elevator. We booked this room through the RCI exchange program. It was
managed by Whiskey Jack and they were fantastic in taking care of the
problem. We were moved to a much better location straight away with
comparable facilities. If you need to contact Whiskey Jack---try going
there yourself or phoning during the early afternoon. I found it
impossible to get them to answer the phone during check in/out times.
Other than that, I can not fault their service and willingness to solve
problems. There was no housekeeping while we were there but I expected
that and if you are skiing with a family it is part and parcel of the
experience. Most apartments do not clean everyday. But after moving to
an apartment in the Upper Village---I would actually choose that
location over the Cascade. It is more convenient to the slopes and a
better experience for a family.

Cascade Lodge Whistler

I thought we were getting a great value by selecting the Whistler
Cascade Lodge. It is very close to the village, almost in it, and had
all the amenities we need, such as a hot tub. Most Whistler hotels seem
to be about the same other than those above the standard price level,
such as Pan Pacific or Four Seasons.
Whistler Cascade Lodge seems to lack the service of the other standard
hotels in the village though. We weren't informed that housekeeping
would not come to your room unless you were there for an extended stay,
not sure how long that is as we stayed 4 nights. Our towels were never
changed, bed never made, etc.
A mistake we made was going on "college weekend" and the hotel was
overtaken by partying college kids. Not the hotels fault. Unfortunately
that resulted in broken glass in the hot tub. The hot tub was closed for
a day and when asked for alternatives we were told there was nothing
they could do. The first day the hot tub was also closed for many hours
because it was being cleaned and couldn't get the temperature back up.
The one good thing about this hotel is noise level. There are 2 sets of
doors to get into your room thus blocking out a lot of noise. This is
unusual for Whistler where you are often woken up by partiers and early
morning ski boots.
All in all, I was not impressed with the Whistler Cascade Lodge and
wouldn't go back when there are so many other options in the village.
