Aava Hotel Whistler Reviews

It is October, so definitely the quiet season in a mountain town like Whistler,
but this nice new hotel was a terrific place to stay. It is not high-end so
don't expect it to be really plush, but it is a european-style mid-range hotel
with comfortable, clean rooms and friendly service. The rooms are on the smaller
side, but accommodated two adults and one 5 year-old nicely. It is close to the
busy highway, so ask for a room in the "East wing" so that you don't hear too
much traffic noise.
Cross a street and walk a few steps and you're in the heart of the main village.
There's a nice new White Spot restaurant across the street for breakfast, and
the Starbucks and Spaghetti Factory are only a few minutes away, if you've got
kids with you.
One downside, the pool and hot tub are tiny. In the summer, I imagine these
areas get cramped quickly.

this hotel is the perfect location - just walk across the street to the
pedestrian walkway and Barefoot Bistro! We can't wait to come back.Aava Hotel Whistler Reviews

I like the boutique feel to the hotel, the rooms are well decorated and
generally well thought out. There are some small details they have cheaped out
on like tacky plastic soap dishes and bathroom accessories that take away from
what they are trying to accomplish.
Staff were friendly and check in was very quick and efficient.
The other details that took away from my visit were:
1. Internet - despite separate WiFi in both the East Wing and West Wing I
struggled to get more than one bar of signal. I was on the first floor and a
colleague on the third floor had the same issue.
2. Parking - At $19 per day it seems overpriced relative to the price of the
room in low season and would suggest they change parking rates to better algn
with room rates.
3. Lost item - I left an item behind and to get the hotel staff to coordinate
with housekeeping seems to be a monumental task. Not sure if the service is
contracted out but even the manager seemed to struggle to facilitate any
communications to locate the item, let alone try and get it returned to me. This
was a great opportunity to live the brand and "go the extra mile" that was not
taken.

We spent two nights in the Aava over the weekend of the Vancouver-Whistler
GranFondo. This was purely coincidental but it did mean that the town was
crowded, particularly on the day that we arrived.
First impressions were good; the reception area was bright clean and airy and
the staff efficient and friendly (important because after a 6 hour drive down
from Wells Gray we had found most of the roads in the town blocked off because
of the GranFondo and so patience was wearing a bit thin).
Our room was a good size with a very comfortable king size bed. The A/C unit was
a little noisy but despite outside temperatures up around 30 degrees it was not
necessary to keep this going during the night and so not a problem.
The Aava offers a small outdoor pool and spa pool which was a good way to relax
after a day hiking around on the mountains. The hotel provides robes in the room
and there is a plentiful supply of towels by the entrance to the pool area.
The hotel is located only a short walk from the main "village" and so within
easy reach of a huge selection of bars and restaurants. It is also relatively
close to the main lift station at the bottom of Whistler mountain and so would
be an ideal place to stay for skiing - probably 5-10 minutes walk carrying your
gear which, bearing in mind the room rate compared with one or two places that
are right by the lifts, makes the Aava a good base for a winter holiday.
Our overall impression was very positive and if we go back to Whistler we would
certainly consider staying at the Aava again.

Had an opportunity to stay at this hotel while on vacation to Whistler BC. The
staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location was perfect not to
far the Village and easy walking distance to most everything. The accommodations
were wonderful and we enjoyed are visit very much. Be careful the beds are so
comfortable you wont want to leave. |
