Malard Lounge (my favourite spot at the hotel) does not charge for kids'
meals if ordered before 5pm - so my 2 kids loved their Mac& cheese. (you
might have to remind the waiters that when the bill comes though).
Whilst the hotel did not allocate us the interconnecting rooms as I have
requested, and since we arrived on Easter Friday, the hotel was full.
They have managed to change things around and put us into
interconnecting rooms. This was the only hiccup - beautifully managed by
the manager on duty. The rest of our 2-week stay was perfect. Their
service didnt cease to amaze me - whatever we asked from Royal Service /
House Keeping / Room Service / Concierge was delivered / dealt with in
less than 5 minutes. We left our skis at the back of the Fairmont
Shuttle (a free shuttle service to the Whistler Village - for those of
us who are too lazy to walk 5 minutes) - and the concierge got the skis
and sent them to ski storage before we even thought about it.
Staff at the Wildflower restaurant have been more than accomodating of
my 2.5 year-old dining antics, and always swiftly provided kids cups,
colouring sets, etc to keep the kids occupied.
Hotel also provides bath-robes not only for adults but also for kids
(different sizes and you need to request housekeeping).
If you travel frequently and stay at Fairmont hotels, you should
register for their President Club - it is free, and once you stay 10
nights in a year, you get a lot of various benefits, including room
upgrades.

We went to check out Pan Pacific Mountain Side and also Four Seasons to
see how they compare and this is what we found:
Pan Pacific Mountain-Side is more of a lodge - small foyer, narrow
corridors, reasonably basic decor in rooms. Their leisure facilities,
though look pretty inviting when you look at them from the ski lifts,
are nothing compared to those of Fairmont's. At Pan Pacific the spa area
is small, we didnt see anyone attending the spa deck (at the Fairmont
you get drinks service from 3pm at the pool).
I believe Pan Pacific has a similar star rating to Fairmont's, but is a
little cheaper. If you are after luxury, Fairmont is the place to be.

Four Seasons - we looked at their Deluxe Twin room - just so we could
compare with the twin room at Fairmont. At Fairmont, the twin rooms are
Standard (also come as Deluxe). Both beds are HUGE - almost double in
size. You could have 2 adults sleeping in each bed without much problem.
At Four Seasons, their standard room has a Queen Bed. Next category up
is King bed. and yes next category up - deluxe twin. Although the room
itself is nicely appointed - with fireplace, a little sitting area,
modern TV (as opposed to fairmont's old-fashioned TV), the beds are
quite narrow (single or king-single in size). The bathroom is possibly
marginally larger than that in Fairmont. The price for the room is
almost DOUBLE that of Fairmont. The pool / spa area at Four Seasons
looked beautiful. Likely to have been renovated somewhat recently.
All in all, Four Seasons did exude the air of being more recently done
up, with luxury finishes, but whether it is worth paying double of
Fairmont - not as far as I am concerned.
All in all, a great stay at Fairmont, which offers quality, style and
character.

In true Fairmont fashion...this hotel will blow you away with its
comfort, service, and location! Yes, the Fairmont is pricey but you get
every dollar worth at this hotel. The Blackcomb lift is located in the
Hotel's backyard. I suggest people spend the day in 7th heaven and enjoy
some beers at the summit.
This hotel is amazing....rooms are great, bed is amazing, robes are
excellent, washrooms are big and clean. What is there not to love about
the Fairmont really?

best luxury ever, ski to your door the concierge carry your skis to your
locker while handing you hot chocolate. Definitely return to this
resort. Even though para olympics were on we almost had the slopes to
ourselves most days. Eating out was very good, expensive restaurants as
well as on a budget. very varied. We stayed at this hotel as it was a
special occasion, but would return to many of the accommodations that
were all very good. Keg, spaghetti factory were exceptional for food. We
finished out ski holiday with 3 days in Vancouver, what a beautiful
city, highly recommend. We also stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront which
was an ideal location for getting about.

completely wonderful. Words can not describe how beautiful and wonderful
the whole trip was. They had overbooked the hotel and we were upgraded
to a concierge suite. HEAVEN!!! We also took a flight over the glaciers.
Absolutely lovely! Oh yeah- Great shopping too. LOL

Me and my gf went up to whistler for the weekend for a little R&R.
We were disappointed in the size of our room right off the bat. The room
had a queen size bed and very limited space. It was one of the smallest
rooms we have ever stayed in.
Service was horrible as well. We spent 20 mins on the phone with an IT
guy off site trying to set up our internet connection. After that, we
were transferred to the reservation desk in Whistler and after another
20 mins, the staffs came to the conclusion that our room was probably
located our of range and switched us to another tiny room.
Overall, it was a bad experience and I would think twice before staying
there.

This was my third stay at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, and I would not
hesitate to suggest it to couples, singles, families, groups, etc... I
have organized large-scale business events at this property as well as
enjoyed it with my family. Also, because I go to Whistler frequently, I
eat at all the Chateau's restaurants almost every second weekend, so I'm
very familiar with the hotel's services in every season.
The location of the Chateau is perfect. Sitting right at the base of
Blackcomb mountain the resort is seconds from the ski hill and upper
village, a 5-min walk from the main village and a 12-min walk from lost
lake. Best part: sitting in the hot tub apres-ski looking up the ski
hill and congratulating yourself for a good day on the slopes :)

From the moment you drive up to the valet or walk to the front desk, the
staff are welcoming, gracious and kind. For the most part, Fairmont
understands how to treat guests with the utmost respect. We drove and in
seconds of pulling up to the front of the hotel we had a host of valet
attendants eager to assist, asking if we were checking-in, AND letting
us know they already had our room ready and proceeded to hand us the
key!
The rooms are nicely done. The hotel just celebrated its 20th
anniversary, yet the rooms don't show too many signs of aging, meaning
they've been kept up well. The decor is what I would call "mountain
comfort." Bathrooms are fairly large....in comparison to the Fairmont
Olympic (for example). |
