Hotel Review of the Crystal Lodge Hotel Whistler

I got this hotel on a "Last Minute Special" through the resort association, and
it worked out well. Similar to other "blind" booking services, you can specify
the area of the resort and the star rating you want, see prices and general
descriptions, commit and pay, then see the property name. Upon seeing it was the
Crystal Lodge, I was concerned about the location in terms of pedestrian and bar
noise, so I called the hotel and asked them to make a note that I wanted a quiet
room. They asked if I cared about the view, I said no, and they said okay, we've
got the room for you. When I arrived, the desk clerk verified the request and
gave me a room overlooking the back alley. It was perfect for me. I can see how
some people wouldn't like it, but it was quiet and I wasn't there during
daylight anyway (December). I was pleased with this level of customer service on
a highly discounted room rate.
The room itself was fine. Not fancy, a chip in the sink, small table instead of
a desk, small TV. But it was clean, functional, and quiet. Great value.
One problem which could easily have been avoided: On my departure morning I
asked for and received a late checkout for a fee. But when I came back from
skiing I couldn't get in through the door near my room, had to go around to the
lobby, wait for some others customers, and get a new key. They said oh yeah the
keys expire at noon even if you get late checkout. When I asked why they didn't
tell me that when I extended, they just gave me a blank look. Unfortunately, the
new key worked in the elevator, but not in my room, so I had to go back to the
desk and stand in line again. Big deal? No, but a pain in the butt and easily
avoidable.
One tip: There is a small grocery store in the village which has a pretty good
selection. It's not as much fun as 3 restaurant meals per day, but can save you
a ton of money. It's a lot pricier than stores in Vancouver and Sqaumish, but
still reasonable.
On my next trip to Whistler, I will probably stay in the Upper Village. But if I
do stay in the main village again, I will probably return to the Crystal Lodge.

The hotel is in the heart of Whistler within walking distances all services. Our
hotel room was neat, clean, quite and overlooked the shops of the city. The
hotel was the same quality as some higher priced units we have rented in
Whistler. Hotel dining was good for both fulling dining and a quick meal. I
would recommend and stay there myself again. There is a parking fee and no cars
allowed in the town of Whistler.

We stayed for 4 nights in room 222. Th location was great but that was about it.
Our room was extremely small, and our friends who booked at the same time for
the same rate, had a much nicer room. During our stay our door lock broke, and
we had to wait to get back into our room, and after complaining about the noisy
room next to us we were told that they would follow up with us. The 2 and 3rd
nigh were just as loud as the first. Beds not very comfortable. It may have just
been that room, so avoid RM 222 at all costs.

The Crystal Lodge is located in a very convenient location for skiers and
visitors. It is just a 3 to 4 minute walk to the Whistler Gondola. It's also
located right next to the central pedestrian corridor for Whistler Village so
shops and restaurants are very close by.
All the staff at the hotel (front desk, housekeeping, room service) we met were
friendly, courteous and polite.
There are plenty of food options at the hotel: a couple of restaurants, a
tapas/drinks lounge, a pub style lounge and a couple of coffee outlets
(Starbucks, Second Cup).
We stayed in 1 bedroom on what's known as the "Hotel Wing" of the hotel. The
suite was clean, cozy and fine for our weekend stay. However, we had a toilet
that would frequently keep running and the noise you can hear from the hallway
and other suites is very noticeable. As well, even with our window closed there
is a lot of noise that is heard from the main pedestrian thoroughfare that our
suite looked down onto.
If it weren't for the noise I would highly recommend this hotel. If you're
looking to party I guess the noise won't bother you but if you're looking for a
peace and quiet consider other options.Hotel Review of the Crystal Lodge Hotel

We booked a two-bedroom, two-bathroom room for one night. The room was huge and
made for a great time together as a family (parents & two adult children). The
room had a nice balcony with a view of the slopes. The room had a fully equipped
kitchen, dining area, fireplace and was very clean. My only caution would be the
street noise. Nights in Whistler Village are lively (even in October) and if you
go to bed early expect to hear those who don't on their way back to their hotel.
I don't think the Crystal Lodge is worse than any other hotel in this regard -
just a general warning about Whistler Village.

We rented two rooms - they were both small, and sparsely furnished.
The mini-bars (actually baskets - there are no refrigerators) offer Gallo wine.
The TVs are tube types. The desks are round, wooden cafeteria tables. The room
was small, the showers loud and the bathrooms worn. The in-hotel restaurant is
The Old Spaghetti Factory.
Yes, the hotel is centrally located.

Perfect location Right in the center of the village. Room was rather small.
Crystal Lodge is a beautiful property located right on the "stroll" in the
center of the village of Whistler. The room was small but pretty. Parking was an
unexpected extra cost and located under the hotel - rather difficult to
negotiate the tight spaces. LOVED the location of this hotel!!!

Fantastic place to stay! We stayed in the loft suite with our two children and
could not be happier. 2 minute walk to the Whistler Gondola, excellent
restaurants and a Starbucks in the hotel. Plenty of shops in the village. The
suite had a kitchenette and we had several meals in the room to save on money.
Extremely clean and cozy with a great view of the slopes. We would stay here
again. Excellent outdoor heated pool and hottub! |
