Aava Hotel Whistler Reviews

Nice well appointed hotel, very good and comfortable room. Restaurant (breakfast
etc) is White Spot, just across courtyard. Very close to centre of Whistler
which is a nice resort. But practically everything was closed in late October -
no lifts, no activity, few people in restaurants - of which there is a good
choice (we found Araxi the best) - so come in Summer or in Winter!

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well appointed as
was the hotel. Whistler Village Walk was just across the street and close to
restaurants, shopping. The main ski lift is a short walk away. A great gym (the
Core) with climbing walls is across the street. My wife and I enjoyed the stay
at Aava, and there was lots to see in do in this great Rocky Mountain Town. We
are looking forward to coming back.

Stayed at Aava over a very quiet long weekend in the shoulder season. For the
most part, it was a great stay. The hotel is very new - so new, it almost still
has the hotel equivalent of that "new car smell." The room and common areas were
spotless and fresh, the hot tub had a view of the surrounding mountains, the
staff were all friendly and welcoming, and the location was perfect (within a
4-minute walk of the village stroll, but just far enough away from it to be more
peaceful and park-like).
I was in the West Wing facing Whistler/Blackcomb mountains, and got a delightful
surprise - because the hotel borders a small golf course, there isn't the usual
thing you get in Whistler of having your view be essentially a view of the rooms
in the hotel across the street. Instead, I had a gorgeous, wide-open view of the
entire village and mountain - just spectacular.
Plus, the value was incredible. My nightly stay was about 40% less than any
other comparable hotel in Whistler. My guess is, they're trying to get people to
try them because they're still too new for the word to have gotten around. Take
advantage of it now, before the price goes up.
BUT - there was one small but important detail, that kept it from being an
all-positive experience: very poor soundproofing. I had one of those rooms that
has a door connecting it to the next room, so families can rent 2 rooms and open
them into one big one. The only problem is, the soundproofing on those doors is
truly dreadful. I'm not a light sleeper, but I heard every nose-blow, every
toilet flush, and every word of every conversation that my next-door-neighbours
had throughout my stay. If I closed my eyes, it was as if they were sitting on
the sofa next to me. And this wasn't the usual noises you get from the hallway -
this was coming from inside the room next door, so it lasted essentially
non-stop the whole weekend. Luckily, the neighbours weren't newlyweds, or I
might've been hearing all kinds of other types of noises...
Even with this unfortunate detail, my stay was very nice. If the Aava can
improve the sound-proofing on adjacent connecting rooms, it will definitely be
my number one choice in Whistler.

Nothing outstanding but everything as you would expect from a hotel of this
standard. Well located for Whistler village and the shops. Visited over
Thanksgiving holiday weekend so Whistler itself was very busy. Free WiFi but not
free parking. |
