Hotel Review of the
Holiday Inn Hotel Whistler
9 September 2011
Stayed here over a weekend, and got a room at a good cheap rate. For the low
price we paid it was very good. Nice room, on the 5th floor, overlooking the
fire station in the backstreet, and some partial views of the mountains. Parking
is available under the hotel, and costs $15. The parking lot layout can be a
little confusing at first, but is OK once you work out which exit to use to get
to your hotel room. We didn't need to use our car, you walk to everywhere in the
village.
The room itself is quite nice, a fully equipped kitchen, full size refrigerator,
microwave, stove, washing machine & drier. Front desk sells laundry soap for
about $2 a box. The main bed was nice, but the murphy bed was terrible to sleep
on.
At nights, the streets below are very noisy with large groups of intoxicated
youths hanging out and screaming their lungs out until around 3am. Bring your
ear plugs and you will be fine - it worked for me, and I am a light sleeper.
We really enjoyed the friendly service at the front desk, and felt they
genuinely cared about our comfort and satisfaction with the room. They are very
helpful with local knowledge and offer discount coupons for attractions/gondola.
I think it was a good choice to stay here for the low price, and would love to
come back next time in winter to see the snow. The drive from Vancouver is very
scenic, and doesn't take very long to get here.

We like Holiday Inns because they are reasonably priced and consistently
comfortable. However this hotel has problems. The hotel lay-out is odd and the
room we were given was strange. It was like staying in an attic room. Our
general impression was that hotel operator was penny-pinching to maximize
profit. We knew this is not a five-star hotel but the traditional welcoming
Holiday Inn feel was missing. We were in the room when the maid came so she
dropped off fresh towels and ran. She did not ask if we needed anything else and
we were surprised when we realized she had left. This is not a bad hotel but
there are others in this price range and we will look elsewhere next visit. We
booked through the Holiday Inn website and were not made aware of the $15 per
night parking fee.Hotel Review of the

I am a Priority Club member and use Holiday Inn and its affiliates regularly so
I have a bias in their favour but that does not stop me from being objective
when it comes to good service and good value. The key here is the quality of the
staff. We were there a week and deal with a number of people, they were all
great but Tim and Laurel who we had the most to do with were exceptional.
The Hotel is well located in the heart of Whistler Village just off the Village
Stroll, close to a range of Restaurants. The well sized, warm and comfortable
rooms are located in a number of buildings around the plaza where the Village
Stroll takes a left turn.
As far as properties go this Holiday Inn is not better and no worse than may
others. The difference is the staff and the location. I will be back.

The location on the Village Stroll is excellent! Convenient to the slopes and
many places to eat. Kitchen has everything needed. In room washer and dryer was
super beneficial. The room was a average, but clean. Definitely can hear the
partiers on the street below at all hours of the night. Staff was very helpful
and polite.
