Hotel Review of the Fairmont Hotel Chateau Whistler

Great hotel. Staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. The Chateau
had all the amenities we needed. Room was nice, but somewhat
underwhelming after the grandeur of the lobby.

Our family of four recently spent the weekend at the Fairmont Chateau
Whistler and loved it! We arrived early but they had our room ready so
after parking and unpacking, we were in the pool by noon. Parking seems
pricy at first ($28 for self parking, $33 for valet parking) but the
parking fee covered the time from check in (11:30am) until 6:30pm the
following day. Essentially, we got a weekend's worth of parking for the
cost of a one night parking pass. We got an excellent room rate as May
is low season. The hotel is very well priced considering the excellent
quality of customer service and facilities.
We were greeted very warmly by all of the staff. The hotel must hire
people based on skills + personality because the customer service skills
of everyone we encountered were amazing.
Our room had two queen beds in a fairly large room (deluxe two queen
room) with a very large bathroom and a lovely view of the slopes of
Blackcomb and Whistler. We had very comfortable sleeps. There was a
large armoire with drawers, a tv, minifridge and coffee maker. The
closet had several good quality hangers, shelves, and a fairly large
easy to use safe. The room was larger than we expected and nicely
decorated. Although there was no balcony, we were able to open the
windows a bit and enjoy fresh clean mountain air.
We ordered snacks and drinks poolside which amazed and delighted our
kids who would have been very reluctant to get out of the pool. We also
enjoyed a takeaway breakfast from the Portobello Deli (breakfast in bed
while watching cartoons is always so relaxing). I had a solo meal one
night in the Mallard Lounge after the rest of the family returned home
(I stayed on to attend meetings) and had the Butter Chicken which was
excellent. The Mallard Lounge was a very comfortable setting for a
single female diner. There were several parties of assorted sizes in the
Lounge, and the customer service was top notch.
The pool is located in the Health Club. We really enjoyed the
indoor/outdoor pool (connected by a little channel with a plastic flap),
the hottubs (one indoor and three outdoor), the sauna, and the lappool.
The lappool, cooler than the leisure pool (much appreciated by real
swimmers) has underwater speakers which our children found amazing.
There were deck chairs everywhere and with poolside service (from the
Mallard Lounge) we happily spent an evening and an afternoon on the pool
deck!
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a 5 - 10 minute walk to the Lower
Village. We had fun walking around enjoying the ambience. We discovered
the best burgers (Splitz) and the best ice cream (Cows). I also had the
opportunity to try zip trekking - what a blast.
Overall, our experience at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler was excellent.
We are planning to return to Whistler in July and will definitely stay
here again!

Gotta be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. From the minute we
arrived we were amazed by the treatment we received.
Location is spot on with the gondola lift right beside the hotel and the
village only a 5 minute walk away.
Planning another trip to Whistler and not considering any other hotels -
just wouldn't be the same without staying in the Fairmont

We stayed at the Fairmont in April, and loved it. The rooms were
beautiful, with real mountain style but not too kitsch or corny. We
didn't have a "view" room but still had a very nice vista over the
mountains. The windows are amazing letting in real light and air (they
open)! The resort is very comfortable and the ski in and out location is
fabulous.

We stayed at Chateau Whistler and skied in April, 2010....during an
amazing low pressure system that brought 6-12" of snow every
night....Skiing was tough but terrific.
One note, the upgraded 'mini suite' only has a queen bed, so if you want
a king, stay in the regular rooms which have a great sitting area.
Hotel was full of families and sometimes it was a bit annoying...Club
level lounge sounded more like day care during breakfast but other than
that ...a terrific hotel.
Great concierge services...they know everything. Wonderful pool and
workout facilities...a great place to stay if you want to be a bit out
of the main village but w/ the free shuttle service, easily accessible
to everything. There was constant service in the hotel...our room was
always prepped for our return after skiing or in the evening..

I've stayed at the Chateau Whistler with my family for many years and
have always enjoyed my time there. We typically ski all day, hit the hot
tub and pool, and then have dinner in Whistler village or in the hotel.
The convenience of ski-in, ski-out is unbeatable. The kids love the pool
that's part inside, part outside. The hotel is also just beautiful to
look at. The rooms have always been comfortable and roomy, even with an
extra kid on a cot. I hope to continue the tradition in the future!

We just came back from a 2-week stay at Fairmont Whistler. This was our
second trip there and the hotel was as wonderful as we remembered it
from last year.
A couple of things I found out that might be useful to other travellers:
Deluxe rooms and Standard rooms are the same in size and configuration.
The only difference is that Deluxe rooms are on higher floors AND that
ALL Deluxe rooms have been recently renovated, whilst only half of
Standard rooms have been renovated. |
