Review of the Royal Scot Suite Hotel Victoria
July 29, 2011
In common with the vast majority if reviewers, we found
this hotel to be very comfortable, and with more
character than it's exterior might lead you to expect.
Lots of nice touches. There's a free shuttle to downtown
(not that we ever used it, the hotel is less than 5
minutes from the City Hall/Capitol Building(?)).
Breakfast was good, the room was very spacious and well
appointed.
Would definitely stay there if I pass this way again.

This is a real gem. It is one of those comfortable
places that has everything: underground parking (if you
wish), excellent food and service, laundry, billiards,
pool, and lots more. You can walk everywhere downtown
from this hotel but the hotel shuttle van is at your
service too....for free. Shopping is close by since many
people rent suites and have extended stays.

We stayed at the Royal Scot Hotel $ Suites because we
received a package deal with WestJet and it basically
cost us around $80 a night for the two of us. We stayed
for 7 nights and after checking in they phoned us and
said that they would comp us the parking fee which was
nice. I SOOO hate paying for parking. Parking in
Victoria is scarce and expensive. We had a regular room
with one King size bed and a mini fridge. The only thing
that bothered me was that we were directly facing the
parking lot and it was loud at many times throughout the
day when people were coming and going. Weirdly at night
and early morning. We aren't late sleepers or anything
so i'm not sure if these are early risers or maybe hotel
workers?
The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful and
pleasant. The front desk staff were also nice and
attentive.
We ate in the restaurant twice while there. Both times
for dinner. To be honest I didn't want to go back after
the first time but my husband wanted to return. The food
just didn't 'do it for me'. The server was very good and
nice. There were many happy people in there both times.
It just wasn't my taste in food. Maybe authentic
Scottish perhaps???
The hotels is within easy one block walking distance to
the floating houses and cute harbour seals. The other
way are the Parliament buildings and several Whale
watching boat companies. Tons of things to do and see.
We rented a car from Budget at the airport. A Prius and
we drove 1500km which only cost us $150 in gas ..and it
was tough driving up and down the coast which is
mountains. A beautiful trek if you go that route.
There are other hotels a little cheaper than Royal Scot
Hotel and Suites but this place definitely felt like
home away from home while in Victoria.

My wife and I spent our first 2 nights of our honeymoon
here at the Royal Scot and we loved it. It was a very
clean, nice suite with lots of space and nice amenities.
And the location was ideal. So close to the Inner Harbor
and all it has to offer. We really enjoyed Victoria. We
thought it was a charming city with a great Canadian
feel. It was so nice to have the Royal Scot to come home
to after long days. We definitely would stay here again!

We stayed here for 2 nights during our stay. We arrived
early around noon. We tried to check in but our room was
not ready yet. We found out at this time that our room
had been upgraded (part of a promotion during this time)
We were told to come back at 3 and our room would be
ready. We returned at 3 and our room was not ready yet.
We were then given a different room which was upgraded
again.
We ended up with a 1 bed room suite which we really
enjoyed. The hotel is on the older side, it is not fancy
and modern like some but it suited our needs. Our room
had a stove, microwave, toaster, full size fridge, etc
in it. We were able to buy some breakfast food and make
them in the morning to save money and time. The bed was
comfortable but did have some squeaks in it. There was
no air conditioning that we saw but there were 2 fans
provided, which we didn't need since the weather was
cool during our stay. The elevator to our room was small
and I had a hard time getting a luggage cart into it.
There were 2 umbrellas in the room which can be used
during you stay.
We used the pool both nights we were there. It was well
maintained and our son loved it.
The location of this hotel was fabulous. You could see
the Parliament Building from the front door of the
hotel. We were able to park our vehicle for the entire
stay (except for our trip to Butchart Gardens). 10-15
minute walk can get you to most of the restaurants and
shops of the downtown. A short walk to the east will get
you to Beacon Hill Park as well. |
