spent 3 nights at the grand pacific overlooking Victoria harbour weekend of Aug 19th, 2011. we had a suite that accommodated two couples so the room was very spacious and tasteful decorated. double sinks which was great. we had a balcony view on the side and a front view over the harbour. it was an awesome sight. the hotel was very clean and the staff excellent. we did not eat there as we choose other places on our tour. the rooms at this hotel is pricey but when you compare other hotels in same area we thought we did have a reasonable rate. the pacific is perfectly located to all tours, restaurants and walking distance to the harbour. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We stayed here on a recent trip from a Seattle vacation. Our main purpose in visiting was to go on a whale watching tour (5 Star Whale Watching Tour which was great) so we stayed one night so we could see some of Victoria, too. The hotel is in a great location…facing the water, next to the parliament and close to where the Victoria Clipper docks so it's an easy walk if you are lugging suitcases. We were on the second floor and the room was very spacious with a nice balcony (2 chairs) and a view of the water. The hotel seems very new and was such a nice change from the hotel we stayed at in Seattle. It was elegant and had very nice rooms. Wireless internet was available for free in the lobby but not in the rooms which was OK by us.
This hotel is in such a great location and you can easily see all of the downtown areas of Victoria. We didn't eat in the restaurant on site but went next door to a restaurant connected to another hotel. We ate outside and enjoyed the fantastic weather and view of the water. It was reasonably priced and the food was good. We also ate at a restaurant on Bastion Square as well as at the Flying Otter (a floating restaurant right where the planes take off). It’s a small restaurant and was packed both times we went. The first time we didn’t want to wait but we went after our whale watching tour and had a nice lunch.

This was our second time to visit Victoria. The first time was over 10 years ago and was only for a day tour. We had tea at the Empress, took a tour of the island and saw Butchart Gardens. This time was more leisurely and we had more time to see the city. Some of the things we did on this overnight trip besides the whale watching trip (which I highly recommend) and walking the downtown area was to walk in the beautiful park, Beacon Hill, close to the hotel and take a tour of the Parliament (very interesting and free!). If we ever come back to Victoria we would definitely stay at the Grand Pacific again.
Victoria was beautiful and this time of year the weather was fantastic! We ate all our meals outside. We loved walking along the water and was lucky to be there during the Dragon Boat festival and races. It's also the best time to see whales. I highly recommend putting this city on your bucket list!

Great find. We scored a last-minute 'reduced rate' room at the Hotel Grand for a one-night stay (July 27-28), and my wife and I were very happy with our accommodations.

Upon arrival, the valet service were courteous at informing us that we had a choice of valet parking or self-parking. Not a big difference in price, but we like the flexibility of self-parking...and it's very easy at this hotel, once you figure out which elevator you are closest to. I don't like paying for parking as much as the next guy, but that's the going rate in certain cities. Just be thankful it's not downtown NY or San Francisco!

Check-in was listed at 3pm; we arrived at just after 1pm. The attending lady informed us that our room wasn't ready, but asked us if we would like another room instead. So she gave us Room 717 in the East wing, with two double beds. That was perfect for myself, my wife, and our 16mo. old. We were able to push one of the doubles against the wall, making for a perfect homemade "crib" using the extra pillows on the opposite side.

You'll notice complaints in here about the East wing in 'huge need of an update' OR 'no room to stretch out' OR 'tiny bathroom' OR 'terrible view' OR 'when are they going to get flat panel tv's in here'...yada yada. Perhaps some of the floors/rooms are different. On the 7th floor, we had a great view of South Victoria with the Washington Olympic Mtns in the background. And it's always great to have a perfectly baby-proofed balcony, so we could just let our son go in and out, without any worry that he was going to squeeze through a hole somewhere. I suppose the only thing that felt really dated to us was, yes, the TV....but I think we watched TV all of 10 minutes our entire stay. When the weather is nice (like it was during our stay!), the last thing I want to do is lounge around in a hotel all day watching the CBC!
