Review of the Accent Inn Victoria

My wife and I stayed overnight in Sept/Oct 2010. While the rooms facing the back
are quiet compared to the rooms facing the street, the rear rooms are a bit dark
inside. The quality of the rooms is similar to the Burnaby Accent Inn - Queen
Size beds, old style large colour TV (in Sept 2011) with cable channels.
We liked the fridge and coffee making facility. The bathroom is functional but
couldn't be called cutting-edge modern. While the Burnably Accent Inn is near
several restaurants, the Victoria Accent Inn has just a family-style restaurant
adjacent.
One plus or negative depending on your needs: the Victoria Accent Inn is located
approx 5-7 kms/miles from downtown a on a main artery leading into central
Victoria. So you are away from the downtown buzz but need a car to get to
downtown and tourist attractions. The free internet in small lobby can be busy
at times. No free continental breakfast. Rate it 3 star.

My friend and I decided to stay at this hotel based on the reviews from here. I
did not find the staff friendly and I did not like the rooms. Our room was on a
busy street and it smelled like stale cigarette smoke. When I phoned the front
desk to ask for a different room the lady rudely told me that there was nothing
she could do about it and that there was not another room to put us into.I would
much rather stay at the Travellers Inn at least they are more polite.Review of the Accent Inn Victoria

Upon arrival to the front desk, staff were super friendly and welcomed us to
Victoria and their facility. The check-in process was fast and simple. Upon
arriving to our room, we found it to be very clean and satisfactory. The air
conditioning in the room wasn't top notch, but was doable.
There is a ABC Country restaurant attached to the hotel, whereby the hotel gives
you a VIP card upon check-in, which entitles you to 10% off every meal you eat
at ABC Country. Directly across the street, there is a small strip mall with
great Chinese Dim Sum and other foods.
This hotel is situated approximately 10 minutes from BC's Legislature and the
downtown area!

This hotel is a great little place to stay in Victoria. The rooms are basic, but
they are very clean and the beds are comfy, and everything you need is there. We
were received very graciously, and we were happy to get an extension on our
checkout time, which saved us a great deal of hassle.
It is located just outside downtown but takes only a few minutes to get to all
the attractions Victoria has to offer.
We live on Vancouver Island, and visit Victoria frequently - we will definitely
be back!

I am of 2 minds of this hotel.
Great folks at the Accent Inn. They advertise themselves as a bicycle-friendly
hotel, which they are. They offer to let you take your bikes into your room,
offer towels, a repair kit and a wash-down station should you need it. All of
this is great. And they are 6 blocks off the Goose bicycle trail. The staff is
friendly and responsive, always helpful.
AND, the hotel is located in an incredible bicycle un-friendly area. It is full
of 6-lane roads and strip malls. The area is everything you don't want to ride
on as a bicyclist. This is fine if you are willing to ride the 10-15 minutes
back into Vancouver proper in the Goose Trail. As a destination to lay your
head, it's great. BUT, be aware that if you arrive on bikes, you are either "in
for the night" off the bikes, or need to get back on the Goose to go back in
town for non-chain restaurants and bike friendly roads and trails. Yelp &
Urbanspoon was no help in finding healthy food for us. We ended up with mediocre
sushi 8 blocks away (on the 6 lane roads). |
