This hotel looked like luxury for the budget conscious on the internet. In real
life it disappointed. The room was a little shabby, but it was the balcony that
was the real shock. It was dirty, sloping and most surprising, the safety
railings were wide enough for a child - or even our teenager - to slip through.
However the location and parking (only $4.00 per night) were great. No air
conditioning. Poor amenities - bring your own shampoo and conditioner if you go.
We won’t be back.

The Hotel was very nice, friendly people and staff (kind of like all Canadians
we met). They tried very hard to be helpful and were in most cases. For example,
we wanted to go to a brewpub and the young staff member sent us to Canoe
Brewpub. It was a perfectly nice place but was full of loud early twenty year
olds. We later found Swan’s (best beer) and Spinnaker’s (best food), both
superior. Overall we had a great time and this hotel is within walking distance
of the whole inner harbor, china town, 2 brewpubs, the legislature building, the
Royal BC Museum, the ferry stop, etc. etc. Great location and a nice clean hotel
room.

We spent one night at the Queen Victoria, on Canada Day. The city was abuzz with
entertainment and its location was absolutely perfect. The room was large,
clean, comfortable, and we had a balcony with a nice view. The split bathroom
was clean and practical. The vanity was especially nice. We also liked that the
overnight parking charge was only a few dollars; free would have been better,
but nevertheless a welcome change from the $20 per night in downtown Vancouver.

Best hotel choice I’ve ever made
After reading negative reviews of hotels included in various Victoria BC
vacation packages I selected this one. It is within walking distance of the
major sights in downtown, the staff was very helpful in tips on riding public
transportation and what to see during our stay. The rooms were wonderful, clean,
and comfortable. We’ll stay there again.

Fawlty Towers?
We had booked the hotel for 5 guests -- 2 adults 3 kids. When we asked for a
cot, we were told it would be an extra $20. We were later told that to unlock
the kitchenette in our suite we would be charged $20, and when we asked for
extra pillows at the front desk, we were told "look in your closet" and were not
offered any extras. The hotel was old but adequate, though there was no air
conditioning. The poor service and hidden extra charges made it not a pleasant
stay. The restaurant on the premises was quite good for breakfast.

Hard beds
Hotel was conveniently located but it was a motel more than a hotel. Beds were
horrible. No air conditioning in rooms.

Good place to stay, a bit expensive but close to everything
Quality of this hotel is good. The mattress was a little small and a bit hard
but the rest of the place makes up for it. The hotel is right across a park, and
close to downtown. The staff is very friendly and I would stay here again.

Great budget hotel in great location
Enjoyed our stay, good location for a quick visit. Staff was very friendly and
helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re only in town for a
short visit and want an affordable, quality hotel in a convenient location. :)Jun 28, 2010
Its a good family hotel and its located close to the Bus station. I took a ferry
from Vancouver and the bus dropped us here. The hotel staffs are courteous and
polite. They have a restaurant which was little expansive and not that great.
Some of the attractions like iMax Theatre, Royal British Museum are in walkable
distance. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel to take you to the
other attractions. Overall if you can spend little more money its a good hotel
for family.

We stayed here in June for 3 nights as part of our self-drive tour of Canada.
The hotel was easy to find, had convenient parking for a relatively small
charge, and was clean, comfortable and impressive. Reception was courteous and
quick. Our room was located at the back of the hotel with a balcony over part of
the car park, but still with a good veiw away from the centre of town. The room
was clean, very comfortable and quiet. The hotel is very smart with a large,
impressive and immaculately clean reception area. It is located just across the
road from the BC Museum, and from there just across the road to the harbour
side. A good base from which to explore Victoria - the only better located hotel
in town is the Empress!
An extremely comfortable and relaxing stay.

Loved our stay at the Queen Victoria Hotel. Bathroom was very clean. The room
its self was the same, comfortable and clean. Location was great, close to
beacon hill park and the inner harbour. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well.
Only negative was parking was a bit tight and an extra charge.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. Our room was large
and had a decent view of the Empress and old Crystal Gardens. The room and
bathroom appeared to be fairly modern and everything was in good working order.
The TV was not exactly top of the line but it wasn't a huge deal for us. We
thought the bed was comfortable enough for a good sleep.
The property has a very nice pool, hot tub, sauna and small fitness room in the
lower level. The condition of everything exceeded our expectations. The lobby is
nice and modern and there is a popular attached restaurant. There is a bar but
it lacked a tv to watch the hockey game so I had to go elsewhere.
We think the location is ideal with quick access to many points of interest - it
is directly across from the Royal BC Museum and only a block to Beacon Hill Park
and the main shopping/dining area. The price was very attractive as well with an
average rate of under $100. Parking is also cheap at $4 per day. The only
complaint was that a front desk worker was somewhat curt to us a couple of
times.
We would definitely stay here again while visiting Victoria. |
