I told a co-worker I had found this hotel on the Internet for my close-to-home
Christmas vacation, and she told me her family stays there every time they’re in
Victoria. After being a guest at the Quality Inn myself for three nights, I’m
making it my permanent choice for accommodation in the Capital City.
Although the hotel has an “up-Island” rate for Vancouver Island travelers, I
discovered I qualify for the Choice Hotels Senior rate, which made the hotel
even more affordable. The gated underground parking was great value at $6/night,
and I liked the added feeling of security it gave me as a solo traveler. The
hotel is 100% smoke-free, and the carpet and linens were completely scent-free,
both of which are essential factors for travelers with sensitivities. I don’t
have a cell phone, so the free local calls were an added benefit. And the new
beds! Heavenly!
Being able to walk a block or two to the YMCA for a fitness class, the Empress
Hotel for a guided tour, and Foo Food for delicious Asian street food made me a
very happy camper. The trip was rounded out by a West Coast giggle on New Year’s
Day, when the bells of the nearby BC Provincial Museum rang “I’m Dreaming of a
White Christmas” as I ended my stroll along the very green Dallas Road
oceanfront walkway.
Inevitably there are problems in any establishment that serves the public, but
the measure of the place is how these problems are dealt with. There was
excessive noise in the hotel on New Year’s Eve, which was handled to my complete
satisfaction by the Hotel Manager. He understands hospitality to be the creation
of the best possible relationship between guest and host, and responded in a
solution-oriented way. Our conversation was a learning experience for both of
us. I noticed later that on Trip Advisor, this Quality Inn takes the time to
respond to guests’ concerns with the same constructive approach, and it was this
practice that persuaded me to raise the hotel rating from Very Good to
Excellent.

They offer Vancouver Island residents a special rate and we love the central
location, we stay there to renew our passports, to visit family and friends and
to check out the latest at the Royal BC Museum. Breakfast is great downstairs.
If you like you can always go to Smitty's on Douglas.
The beds are comfy and the desk clerks are always friendly and gracious. Have
stayed there numerous times.

We stayed for two nights and were very pleased with our choice. Location was
close to downtown so we parked our car on arrival and didn't take it out until
we left. The beds were outstandingly comfortable along with four great pillows
on each of the two queen beds. The staff was friendly, from the front desk,
restaurant, and especially the manager, Stuart, who dropped by when we were
finishing our breakfast to see if everything was satisfactory. We would highly
recommend this hotel to anyone who likes excellent value, comfortable beds, and
a great staff!

We spent two nights, one with our kids and one as a date night and everybody had
a great time. Great location downtown and close to everything.

Visited this boutique hotel awhile ago, but review should be helpful to anyone
thinking of spending a couple days in Victoria during Canada Day (July 1).
Accommodations were comfortable and very reasonable for our group of seven from
California. As other reviewers noted, location is ideal walking distance to
nearby shops and historical landmarks. Since we were there during the popular
holiday, we were very grateful Quality was located away from the popular bars
and restaurants that drew large groups of partiers! After viewing the fireworks
by the bay, we hurried back to our rooms to relax and enjoy our last night in
beautiful Victoria.

My wife and I stayed at this comfort inn during a short trip to Victoria. It was
a pleasant surprise!! Our room even had a water view. The room was very large -
one bedroom suite with kitchen. It was very clean and the bed was extremely
comfortable. The service by the staff was outstanding - they processed our
arrival and departure in just minutes and were extremely friendly. The breakfast
was great with lots of choices and very fresh food items.
We would stay here again without a worry!!

This location is very central to restaurants, bar and downtown attractions. You
can walk to almost anything you need. Most of the staff is very friendly and
helpful. This hotel is for the budget traveler, so do not expect any frills or
white glove service. Parking is cheap at $6! Rooms very clean and pretty
standard. If you want a budget room just to sleep but be central, this is a good
choice. Did not hear the pub down below which was good news. Room Tip: I would
ask for a higher floor if you want to avoid street noise

We were pleasantly surprised by this unpretentious, quirky little hotel: it was
affordable, clean and quiet, and the location is almost unbeatable. The decor
was pleasant, and the tiny steam room, although only big enough for two, heated
up very quickly. Choose this hotel if you want an affordable, functional place
to stay and don't care about valets, chocolates on your pillow and the other
perks of first class. This is a Chevrolet that gets the job done, not a limo.
Oh, one more thing: don't eat breakfast here. The hashbrowns I had were
horrible. Instead, walk around the corner to Vista 18, and have breakfast in the
clouds.
