We stayed here for 4 nights in May and we had an excellent experience. The rooms
are clean, nicely decorated and spacious. Our rate included breakfast with was
very good. The staff was very gracious. The bathroom was great including a
separate shower and bathtub. The location is just perfect, with in walking
distance to both the harbor and downtown. the only drawback was that it didn't
have a pool but they give you access to a pool nearby if you ask for it.
Overall excellent experience, definitely recommend it.

I want to first start by saying I have never taken the time to write any kind of
review. However with that being said , I have travelled quite extensively both
domestically and abroad, and have never stayed anywhere quite like this. My wife
and I arrived via ferry from Port Angeles , Washington. Victoria in itself is
such a beautiful and friendly and safe city. Upon check in we were upgraded to
diamond level for no apparent reason. The room was stunning with two poster bed,
fireplace, wet bar 42" Plasma tv, work desk and chair, overlooking Inner
Harbour, the marble bathroom had Aveda bath products bath bombs, razor shaving
gel , separate soaker tub and glass shower stall, closet contained bathrobes,
slippers umbrella ( nothing seemed to be overlooked) Everyday we came back to
our room to fresh fruit, chocolate and toffee. The staff we so friendly we felt
as if we lived there. The concierge was very helpful with places to eat and
things to see, the bar was very nice and had a great selection of wine. Free
continental breakfast wouldn't blow your mind, but it contained the basics and
seeing as I'm not a huge breakfast lover it had all I needed, eggs, toast,
bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, several juice selections, waffle press etc.
Overall we loved the hotel and its perfect location ( walking distance to
everything in Inner Harbour) excellent staff and accommodations and have already
recommended it to friends and will continue to do so. Looking forward to my next
visit.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a trip around Canada & Alaska and this is
by far the best hotel we stayed in. We had a room on the fifth floor, could see
the sea (just!) and the Parliament building. The room was extremely comfortable,
the complimentary continental breakfast was excellent - included waffles which
is what I would have paid to have anywhere else! The location could not have
been better, middle of downtown with everything easily accessible. Would so
definitely stay here again.

Loved this hotel! The staff were friendly, room was elegant and had all the
amenities you'd need. We had a great sleep on the 7th floor, very quiet. I
looked at the fitness room and it looked adequate for a workout, small but very
modern. The continental breakfast was just okay. With so many great spots nearby
I'd skip the breakfast and eat elsewhere. Lots of kids at the hotel which
surprised me as I picked this hotel since we weren't bringing the kids! Overall
I'd definitely return and choose it over other hotels in Victoria that we've
stayed at.

The reviews were right on, and i was not disappointed! We traveled by Seattle
Clipper, and it was about a 15 min walk from the port. Its a pleasant walk, so
if you traveled light, I would suggest it over a taxi.
When we arrived, our room was not ready, so we were politely asked to come back.
I guess we were originally assigned a lower, 2nd floor room, but since we were
polite to the clerk, she gave us a corner room on the 5th floor. The room we had
was very spacious, very bright, and very comfortable. Plenty of plugs for our
gadgets (ie: laptop, ipod, cellphone, etc.) and housekeeping gave us a welcome
gift of bottled waters, chocolates and fruit, which was very nice as well.
The only drawback of our room was it was facing some Club. Granted, the Club was
at the end of the street, but on Saturday night, the Club cranked the music til
2 or 3 am. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that is facing Government
Street.
This place had a lot of freebies, which is very unusual for any hotel....
especially a 4 star one! There was complimentary coffee and tea in the room (and
the lobby), and free wifi in the room, and DSL cable (if your laptop isn't wifi
ready). And, I do believe they accept pets, as a huge dog shared the elevator
with me! :)
They had everything you'd expect for an upscale hotel: turn down service (with
bedside chocolates), a great deep tub (and they provided a bath bomb soap too!),
mending kit, vanity kit, shower cap, Aveda products.
Breakfast was very deluxe continental breakfast (ie: do you own waffles, scones,
Danish, cereal, meats, muffins, boiled egg, etc.). Some guests were trying to
smuggle out muffins, and the staff were so friendly.. they OFFERED to saran wrap
and put their food items in to-go boxes!
As a hotel guest, we got certain spa services at a discount. The Magnolia Spa
was just ok. I thought they would have private lockers and showers, but its the
disrobe in the massage room, and wear your street clothes when the treatment is
done.
I have nothing negative to say, and would love to return! It was even nicer that
I got a steal of a deal from hotwire. There's also no need to rent a car, unless
you want to do the scenic drive. There's an express bus to Butchart Gardens, and
you can also rent Vesnas/Mopeds for a few hours.
For the fitness people, they have an adequate work out room on the 2nd floor,
with an infrared sauna. And they have a business center with a basic PC (Windows
7) but I did not see a printer.

The Magnolia is unquestionably one of Canada’s finest hotels, adjacent to
Victoria’s Inner Harbour and within easy walking distance to many attractions,
including shops, restaurants, galleries and so on, all on the hotel’s doorstep.
Anyone wishing to celebrate a special occasion, have a relaxing business trip,
or just a simple get-away, this is the place to stay. Management and staff
provide superb service and cater to guests’ every need, with no request too much
trouble. The Hotel itself exudes charm and warmth, with little extras
everywhere, leaving one wish they didn’t have to go home! With pleasure, we
highly recommend the Magnolia, Victoria’s best kept secret, special thanks to
superb management and staff! |
