I know the US dollar's a bit weak right now but this motel was still overpriced
even taking this into account. There's no air in the rooms and nothing to move
air around except a small cheap floor fan. It wasn't until midnight that the air
cooled enough to sleep comfortably. Other than that it's a pretty average motel.
Staff were nice :-)

My husband, 14-year-old teenaged daughter and I stayed for five nights in July.
The hotel is in a good location in relation to downtown Victoria, which you
could walk to. We took the bus daily, and it is only a 10-minute ride and the
buses come frequently. Our room was a one-bedroom suite with TVs in both the
main room and bedroom. It was perfect for us because our teenager needed her
privacy. The equipped kitchenette was great because we could store milk and
drinks in the fridge, heat up leftovers and prepare hot drinks, breakfasts and
snack lunches, which was very convenient and saved some money and time. The room
was clean and tidy and everything was in good working order. My husband was
disappointed with the free movies they offer because the channel they broadcast
it on was poor quality (too snowy). The pool was a real bonus if you like to
swim. It is heated and it can be used rain or shine because it is covered and
there are sliding garage-type doors on either side with a fenced-in patio on
each side as well. My daughter made use of the pool and I made use of the patio
tables, sunning myself while sheltered from the breeze and nearby traffic noise
(the hotel is on Douglas Street which is very busy). The staff was very
courteous and helpful. I made use of their free internet access to print my
airline boarding passes and check my e-mail, and they have very good
complimentary coffee in the lobby. The Mayfair Mall across the street has all
the usual Canadian chain stores (great for my daughter who likes to shop) plus a
food court (and a Tim Horton's) which was handy to eat at when we didn't want to
go to a restaurant. Starbucks is one block up the street and there is another
Tim Horton's and Swiss Chalet two blocks up. We had a nice dinner one night at
Kitty's Hideaway down the street (good homestyle ribs and fish and chips). The
only drawbacks might be the traffic noise because our suite faced onto Douglas,
but I am a light sleeper and it didn't bother me, plus the distance to downtown
Victoria. In retrospect, we might have rented a car so we could save time
sightseeing. If you want pampering and posh restaurants stay downtown for a lot
more money. If you want to save your money for sightseeing, etc. I recommend
this hotel. For the price, this hotel was very good value and I would stay there
again.

My daughter and I stayed at the Blue Ridge Inn in May 2010. It is clean and
comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is a bit further away
from the waterfront area of Victoria than we wanted but only took 10 minutes by
car. It is opposite the Mayfair Mall which we thought would be an advantage but
the mall itself is hardly worth a visit.

We traveled from far northern British Columbia with a group of 25 Grade 10
students and 5 chaperones to visit Parliament, the Provincial Museum, the
University, Colleges, and the other attractions of Victoria. We had hoped to
stay in UVic Residences for $55 a quad per night, but after they pulled the rug
out from under us, we booked the Blue Ridge Inn based on its Trip Advisor
Reviews for $79 a room. We were not disappointed.
The hotel is built around a parking area across the street from Mayfair Mall,
one of Victoria's best. Within two blocks, there are Greek and Japanese
restaurants, a Starbucks, a KFC, a Denny's, a Tim Horton's, and a Macaroni
Grill, plus the Mall Food Court, making it easy to keep a group fed within a
contained area, especially at breakfast. There's convenient city bus service.
The rooms are big enough to hold two double beds and ample dresser space,
there's a mini-kitchen with fridge, and the bathrooms are adequate. Staff is
pleasant and helpful, and cleaning was done meticulously. Each kid had his/her
own electronic room key, a great convenience. There's a small pool and sauna as
well. It's a quiet placeafter about 9 PM, and it's in a pleasant neighborhood.
If you're traveling with a group on a budget, this makes a fine home away from
home. I'd definitely stay there again under similar circumstances.

Maintenance and service staff excellent. You have given rebirth to an aging
building, via service and cleanliness. For anyone wanting to spend a few days in
Victoria in a very comfortable setting, within easy walking distance of downtown
Victoria - this is the place you want to stay - Well done!

My friend and I recently stayed at the Blue Ridge Inn and thoroughly enjoyed our
3 night stay. Our 1 bedroom suite with kitchenette was comfortable, cozy and
roomy. I would definitely stay there again. A great hotel at a great price.

The price is definitely right for a longer stay on a budget. However, there were
just too many issues of maintenance to make this a place we would return to. We
didn't go in expecting the kind of lodging you get at a 3 start hotel and so the
'dirty' carpets (really just old, ground in stains and dirt) were not a
surprise. Broken light fixtures, burnt out bulbs, key cards that don't work
(machine was broken) and, the last straw, a definitely broken hide-a-bed which
we had to jury-rig ourselves in order to be able to sleep on it all added up to
just too much inconvenience. The kitchen is adequate and having a separate
bedroom made for a roomy stay. Didn't find it too noisy and the convenient
parking was great and a big attraction for us because we were coming and going
lots. Good location near Galloping Goose Trail was nice. Starbucks very close is
nice. No issues with odours from the KFC. Staff worked hard to be very helpful
and friendly and would have made up for all the minor inconveniences but for
that "last straw".
