Very dated hotel.
The narrow hallways are in need of a coat of paint and
the bathrooms are a little strange (no real 'door')...
very odd. But the view (from at least one side) of the
harbour is stunning.

Right downtown and very comfortable beds!
The hotel was nicely located right downtown just a short
walk from the Harbor and the Parliament building. A
large mall with a food court was located directly across
the street. Though small, the room did a lot with the
space and well decorated, making the room seem larger
than it actually was. The beds were very comfortable and
the feather duvets were wonderfully soft and warm. Nice
deep tub and soap and shampoo dispensers mounted in the
shower made it easier than fumbling with those tiny
bottles. Decently sized towels, too, which is nice.
Though the faucet fixture appeared old and had chipped
paint, everything worked with no problems. Housekeeping
came around very late - after 2pm and forgot to restock
the coffee and tea supplies in the room, but everything
was clean. Parking was offsite, down two blocks and cost
$10 per day with the hotel stay, but the biggest problem
was the garage’s hours were open too late (11am) and
closed too early (7pm) on several days of our trip. The
hotel places a hold on $75 PER DAY (total was $150 for
us) on your card for incidentals, which took us a bit by
surprise and left us short with our budgeted funds for
food for our last day.

The only drawbacks were the loud noises from the pub
below at night, and if you need extra sugar packets or
ice for your room, you had to enter the pub and request
them at the bar, which was a little awkward and meant
that an adult had to go get them. Nice, friendly staff.
I would recommend this hotel.

At night When we went up to the room we were given it
hadn't been cleaned so reception upgraded us to a larger
room. It is clean and comfortable but in need of
updating. We found it hard to find anywhere that served
a decent breakfast near the hotel.

The Bedford is in a great location! We didn't drive
anywhere, we just walked. Within blocks of shopping
mall, pubs, restaurants, BC Museum, wharf, Bastions
Square and tons of other things. Very cute rooms with
tons of BC character. There's a coffee shop in the lobby
and an attached pub for drinks. The hotel is small and
quaint. The only negatives was a strong smell in the
hallway, but I think it was due to new carpet. Also,
there isn't a concierge, so we were left to figure
things out on our own. Also, be aware that parking is
$10 a day. Make sure you get the Delux room because the
rooms run small. Overall, this is a great place to stay
for the price. I hope this helps you.

For it's location and quality, this hotel is a great
value. I stay here every year because of it's value,
location, and Garrick's Head Pub located on the ground
floor. If I lived in Victoria, Garrick's head would be
my local bar. Casual feel with lots of great local
beers. If you've never been to Victoria, you should be
aware that Government Street is very lively and can be
very noisy at night. If you're used to city life, it's a
gentle roar. If you need quiet, be sure to ask for a
room that doesn't face Government Street.

We’ll use it again for sure.
Great location, price and service. The hotel was a
little old but we’ll use it again for sure. It was very
convenient for everything we need in Victoria - touring,
eating, shopping and visiting. An excellent mid priced
hotel.

The location of this hotel is perfect for enjoying the
Victoria Harbour and walking distance to shopping &
restaurants. The hotel has added a coffee house in the
lobby area, which I enjoyed. The room itself was about
what I expected for the price point, not fancy, but met
our needs & our budget. There was a problem with the
shower, the plumbing was very noisy. The TV remote
control only worked if you stood within a couple feet of
the tv, but since we weren’t there for the TV that
wasn’t really an issue. Following our stay I found a
random charge to my credit card by the hotel, but after
a phone call to the hotel the charge was reversed.

Ok, so we've spent the odd cold night in a tent - but
this was supposed to be a long awaited get-away weekend.
Instead, we got shivering cold conditions that were
never fully rectified, worn stained carpets, damp
firewood that didn't burn, a lingering smell of sour
coffee and extremely poor service.
...And an exorbitant bill! We were charged a total of
CAN$170 per night for the privilege of staying in one
cold and shabby room. As we walked out, we saw that the
front entrance window had been smashed. We joked that it
was probably done by a more aggressive hotel guest that
felt as we did - ripped off!
