The Sylvia is either to your taste or not. Glitzy it's not. The decor is
distinctly anti-modern and rooms and hallways exude a well worn comfort.
But the rooms are also large and bright, the housekeeping just fine...

old fashioned character and friendly service gives travelers a home away from
home. The Sylvia Hotel offers a fantastic location, great value, superb quality
with a wonderful beachside dining experience!
The Sylvia Hotel was designed as an apartment building in 1912 for a Mr.
Goldstein, and named in honour of his daughter Sylvia. Our beachside lounge was
the first cocktail bar in Vancouver and opened in 1954.

From The South (US Border, Tsawwassen):
Follow Highway 99 northbound. Cross the Oak Street Bridge at which Highway 99
becomes Oak Street. Turn left on to 41st Avenue, then right on to Granville
Street and over the Granville Street Bridge. Turn left at the second light after
the bridge on to Davie Street. Continue down Davie Street until it turns in to
Beach Avenue. Turn right, the Sylvia Hotel is on your right.
From Vancouver Airport:
Exit the terminal, via Grant McConachie Way. Cross over the Arthur Laing Bridge,
staying in the right lane. Take the Granville Street exit and follow Granville
Street over the Granville Street Bridge. Turn left at the second light after the
bridge on to Davie Street. Continue down Davie Street until it turns in to Beach
Avenue. Turn right, the Sylvia Hotel is on your right.
From The North (Whistler,
North Vancouver):
From Highway 99, take the Taylor Way exit. Turn left on to Marine Drive, then
get into the right lane. Cross over the Lions Gate Bridge and through Stanley
Park. Turn right on to Denman Street. Turn right on to Pendrell Street; the
Sylvia Hotel is on your left.
From The East (Highway 1):
From Highway 1, take the Hastings Street exit west. Follow Hastings Street until
the downtown core. Turn left on Burrard Street. Turn right on Davie Street.
Continue down Davie Street until it turns in to Beach Avenue. Turn right, the
Sylvia Hotel is on your right.
