We're not surprised: Vancouver again named best city
|
Vancouver has been named the best place in the Americas by a Conde Nast Traveler
magazine survey. For the fifth time in six years,
Vancouver has been named the “Best City in the Americas” in Conde Nast
Traveler’s 2010 Readers’ Choice Awards survey.
The annual survey — which defines the Americas as Canada, Central and South
America — asks readers to rate cities based on a number of criteria, including
culture and sites, lodging, friendliness, ambience and restaurants.
Vancouver first won the title in 2004.
The award was presented at a ceremony in New York on Tuesday.
“This award underscores our efforts to showcase our urban life, arts, culture,
spectacular sights and wide range of attractions, which make Vancouver an
amazing vacation destination,” said Tourism Minister Kevin Krueger in a news
release.
“This honour, from the readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine, will surely
encourage more visitors to discover what the City of Vancouver and our
spectacular province have to offer.”
The award marks yet another feather in the cap for Vancouver.
Last year, the Economist Intelligence Unit named Vancouver “The World’s Most
Liveable City.”
In 2009, Vancouver was also named “North America’s Top Destination for
International Meetings” by the International Congress and Convention
Association, and “Top City in the Americas” in the Mercer Human Resource
Consulting annual quality of living survey. |
