Hotel Review of the Sheraton Guildford Hotel Surrey
13 September 2011
We recently enjoyed a very pleasant one-night stay here. The front-desk
employees are very friendly and welcoming. Our room on the 20th floor was clean,
spacious and modern, with an excellent view, including the gigantic Canadian
flag and pole that stood at Vancouver's Expo '86 and was subsequently bought by
a car dealership across the street.
As Starwood Platinum members, we were automatically provided with access to the
21st-floor lounge. It's surprisingly small, but this wasn't a factor since it
was virtually deserted during our stay. The attendants in the evening and
morning were exceptionally hospitable. The evening appetizers and the morning
breakfast were among the very best we have experienced in North American
lounges, including Sheraton and Hilton.
The hotel is is within a couple of blocks of the large Guildford Mall and a
variety of restaurants. We found a Thai restaurant nearby through T.A. and were
very pleased with it.
As to various charges, our Internet was comped, but both it and parking are
reasonably priced by big-city standards at about $10 each. A minor annoyance was
finding out on our bill that we were being charged $2 for the weekend edition of
the Toronto Globe & Mail because we hadn't opted out, but that does happen from
time to time.
As has been pointed out previously, Surrey itself has been sneered at by
Vancouverites for many years, yet this hotel offers a first-class experience.
Since we live not too far away, now that we've discovered it we'll look forward
to return get-away visits. This is the tallest building for some distance, so
the views at least from the top couple of floors are excellent on a clear day.

Nice huge rooms, clean and comfortable. Hate the parking cost, but got it free
complimentary as pool and spa were closed due to renov. Nice location near mall
and restaurants. Excellent price thru price line

Our family has had the distinct pleasure of staying at the Guildford Sheraton
numerous times. The front desk staff are efficient, personable and genuinely
friendly. The management staff go out of their way to be visible and interact in
a genuine and professional way to insure the service is outstanding.

I am a Starwood Member and was treated like a king on my visit. I was given a
terrific room, some refreshments along with a personal note from the GM, and
great service from top to bottom. All at a rate half of what I would have paid
in downtown Vancouver...not to mention the parking rates there. Only negative is
the traffic getting downtown...not their fault! Looking forward to my next
visit. |
