Hotel Review of the Sheraton Guildford Hotel Surrey
28 November 2011
Unfortunately, we were running a conference at the hotel and it is way the hell
and gone from Vancouver. The traffic in the lower mainland is just awful
everywhere, so one can't blame this on the hotel, but it is a major
consideration if running a conference.
The price was right and the rooms very nice, airy and clean. Beds were extremely
comfortable and service was lovely.
BUT - as a business destination, the WiFi was expensive and the catering
services woman screwed everything up when it came to our technical needs, EVEN
with the floor plan we drew out. And that was a HUGE problem for a
technologically-heavy conference like ours. Staff are nice but not really
"business"-minded. When we decided to move our staff to a Sheraton closer to the
airport, they were not particularly helpful and it is the same chain, after all.
However - food was good at the conference and staff serving were wonderful.

We recently booked a club room on the 21st floor for a special occasion.
Check-in was very quick, a staff member brought our bags up to the room, and
showed us the Club Lounge and features of the room. The room itself was very
nice, the king size bed was like sleeping in a cloud, and we had a very good
night's rest. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and walk-in shower, and overall had a very
good stay here.

If you find yourself in Surrey, Vancouver, you cannot go wrong at this hotel. I
got a nice welcome when I arrived and was given a nice big room on the second
from top floor. The room was big, cozy, well maintained, very clean and very
comfortable. The room service menu was really excellent, with good choices
appealing to a wide range of tastes. The duck spring rolls were absolutely
delicious. You can buy wine by the glass, and the service was fast, friendly and
efficient. Parking is in the bays below the hotel, so you do even need to go
outside to get your car. There were plenty of hotel services, and it seemed to
me that everything was running efficiently. The concierge lounge served a great
selection of breakfast items, and was spotlessly clean and well run. Thanks
guys, you made me feel right at home.

Stayed for one night on business in BC. Rooms were nice, front desk was
attentive. No complaints for a quick stay. Won't find a thing out of the
ordinary

This hotel is not located in a tourist hot spot and I was expecting it to have a
utilitarian air, but not so.
The large room was excellent, with a king bed, sofa, and large flat screen TV.
The mountain view from the 9th floor is good. Sound-proofing is excellent.
During the three day stay I can't recall even hearing one of the other room
doors closing. Maintenance standards are very high.
The food supplied to our convention was well above average. While I didn't use
the restaurant a lot, I was very pleased with what I did have.
The hotel charges for internet service in the rooms, which seems to me to be
totally out of step with current industry standards. There is also a stiff
charge for phone use, so take your cell phone.
All of the staff were great to deal with.
On-site parking was very convenient.
It is difficult to rate the location. People probably stay there out of
necessity instead of by choice. It is close to Hwy 1; close to a large shopping
centre and various car dealers. We didn't find any fine dining in the area
(Earls and the Keg are about as good as it gets) and no outstanding tourist
attractions spring to mind.
This isn't a location I'm likely to need to visit again, but I'd certainly
return to this hotel if the opportunity arose. |
