I have stayed at the River Rock Casino Hotel many times over the last several
years. Since i am not a big gambling fan, it's all about the rooms. They are
nicely laid out and the beds are wonderful. So much so, they have received
inquiries on the mattresses and where guests can find them for purchase for
their homes. The other great selling point for the hotel is the Sky Train stop
at the hotel that will take you to the airport in 5 min and stops in downtown
Vancouver in less than 20.
Full disclosure, the restaurants are not the greatest, nor is the Curve bar on
the ground floor. Also, the location doesn't lend itself to any walking to
restaurants or shops - although, there is a nice walkway on the inlet behind the
hotel.

We chose the River Rock mostly due to location, as we four girls were coming
from different directions. The room wasn't cheap ($300 with taxes) but it served
us well. We had a two-bedroom suite - it would have been better with two
bathrooms, or at least a bathroom with two sinks. Also, although it has a small
fridge, there is no microwave (we brought appies and drinks to enjoy in the
evening).
As others have mentioned, the parking is unwieldy, and if you don't use the
valet service (with a hefty charge), you must drag your suitcases and bags
through the casino to get to the lobby.
The breakfast buffet was fine, but there were no omelettes offered, even though
there were three staff people standing at the ranges. We were told omelettes are
only available on weekends.
Best of all, the hotel is extremely quiet; soundproofing is required since it is
under the flight path to the airport.

Got a really good rate on the new opening special. Was upgraded to a one bedroom
suite, Hotel was very nice. The only complaint was parking. Very disorganized
for parking when you check in. Then had to drag bags through the casino because
you had to park in a parked at the far end of the casino. Buffett, well this is
the reason I only give this place a 3 rating. We had read numerous reviews about
it being crappy and had decided not to go to it and eat off site instead. When
walking to the hotel a couple ahead of us heard us talking about the buffet and
raved about how good it was, it was later after spending 6 hours on an 1.5 hour
ferry by the time we got there so decided to give it a chance. It was over 34
dollars with tax each. For that much I expected decent food. It was crap. I
should have trusted the reviews. I love buffets. This one didn't have a large
selection. The Hot section small) had very dry meat, chicken and some kind of
beef. My son could have cooked better. the desserts were very good, but sorry
for the selection and quality I would have been happy to eat at the ferry
buffet, not what I would expect for that much money. close it down. The rest of
the resort is very nice and did enjoy my time there, however I will not eat
there again. It all seems new and we stayed in the new one bedroom suites, cant
see any that would be bad, not sure about the older side, which isn't really
that old I don't think

I stay at the River Rock Casino about four times a year for a business meeting -
and the service is going down hill. The service was poor in the lounge, we sat
with empty glasses in front of us for about 20 minutes without getting another
drink, then the hockey game was turned on full volume throughout the lounge
area. I asked the bartender whether the game had to be on especially full volume
and his reply was yes everyone wants it on. I stated that I didn't think it was
a sports bar and my colleague and I left and went to the coffee shop on the
premises.
Room Tip: one bedroom suites in west wing are very comfortable and quiet.

Not the cheapest but worth it. We have stayed there many times, whether for a
shopping trip or awaiting a flight out of YVR.
This place has free parking, very clean two-room suites with great beds, free
buffet breakfast and super access to public transportation (skytrain and
busses). You can be in the heart of downtown in 20 minutes or at the airport in
8 minutes. Very convenient.
An added bonus (for those who are so inclined) is the attached casino which is
the largest in British Columbia and a theatre that features top quality
international entertainment.

My friend and I had a Groupon coupon for Tromonto's Italian Restaurant at The
River Rock Hotel and Casino. We were celebrating our Birthdays on Oct. 17th. Our
waiter (Tracy) was wonderful very helpful in explaining the menu and had
recommended the chicken stuffed with pistachios and goat cheese. It was out of
this world. Our appetizer was the escargot also very delicious. We split a
Caesar salad very tasty. My friend had linguini with prawns and scallops very
good. As a complete surprise Tracy came over with two desserts hers tiramisu and
mine chocolate mousse with a candle in each and Happy Birthday spelled out in
chocolate syrup. Very impressive and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend
this restaurant. |
