I'm a Richmond resident & had heard all of the hoopla
about the River Rock, although never had a chance to go
there. This year for the Super Bowl, my buddies and I
decided to rent a Penthouse suite to watch the game.
Upon entering the suite, I couldn't believe my eyes.
There was a 27" tube TV mounted above the fireplace! You
practically needed binoculars to watch the game.
After the game, we wandered down to the lobby to get
some grub. All we could find were some very basic
eateries in the food court. It was laughable. It
appeared that there were a number of Olympic / Media
types staying at the hotel.

Our family were looking for a getaway for a night with
our kids, what a disappointment. We booked a 2 bedroom
suite for 369.00, it was an average room with a view of
a parking lot. We had to walk quite a ways to get to the
main lobby while dragging our bags. This was no a family
friendly hotel. For the price we could of stayed
downtown Vancouver and had access o some wonderful
restaurants. A waste of money.

My wife and i walked into the room and had a shower
first the dinner at the tramonto was excellent , but the
brunch at the tramonto was terrible . i will not pay
219.00 a night to stay here again , very disappointed
compared to the stay here 2 years ago .The place was
okay, but I love Vancouver so being 15 minutes away from
the city was awesome :)

My husband and I stay at the River Rock Casino every few
months. We have now been and stayed over night 5 times.
It's a great place to go for gambling, food,
entertainment and the spa is great too! The hotels rooms
are Amazing!!!!! We have never had a problem. Sure i've
read the below post about the renovations....the place
was being renovated. It didn't bother us and are excited
for the renovations because the place a great before
them and can only imagine what they'll be like when they
are completed. Overall we think this is a great place
and will be going back many many more times!

We are attending my staff party on the weekend and i was
booking a room at the group rate, but had to get a
credit card to hold the room,, when I called the room
was not available. I asked to speak to the manager, b/c
i knew there were many rooms avail out of the 35 rooms
held for my work. The reservation agent simply said "no"
I said he was rude and that a customer should be able to
speak with a manager. My husband called again and was
able to speak with the manager and we were promised that
our names would be on a waiting list for the next
available room. So last night my coworkers cancelled her
room and this morning I called and was told that there
are no rooms available except the 2bedroom suites and
they would still honour the group
rate. conveniently the room we wanted was no longer
avail. I asked him to check the waiting list and our
name wasn't even on it. NOT ONLY DID WE GET POOR SERVICE
THE FIRST TIME, BUT THE MANAGER DIDN'T EVEN TAKE OUR
COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY.
I don't recommend staying here b/c the service isn't
even good at the front desk where service begins. This
just tells you what to expect for the rest of the
stay...which is not much.

I would say that this is an ok hotel but not for
everybody. We are a family with two young children - 2
yrs old and 8 months old. We had a few bad experiences
but there are also good things to say. Good: 1.
Housekeeping is great - fast and delivered all our
requests. 2. Nice crib for our 8-month old. It is not
the usual pack-and-play. It is big, sturdy and easy to
move around. 3. Large area - the bedroom is separate
from the sitting area. Bad: 1. One front desk personnel
was rude when I said all of a sudden, all our 3 room
keys (kept by different people) stopped working. She
insisted it is because we put them in our purse. She
gave me a new set of keys and without putting them in my
purse, I tried them all - nothing worked. Someone else
had to re-program the keys before they worked. I came
back to the person to say that the problem has nothing
to do with where I put my cards and she said, well,
that's what we were supposed to say. (Definitely not the
type of service I want from a hotel staff.) This whole
process took a while and if I didn't have any other
family staying in another room, it would be a disaster
with two young children. 2. Food court is not accessible
when you are with children. 3. Not much to do in the
hotel if you don't gamble. Bad/Good: 1. Confusion with
valet parking but valet staff was nice and helped
resolve the issue. |

All the rooms are suites, which are a plus. Sophia the
event coordinator was impeccable!
The bartender told me that there was a time limit on how
many drinks I could have in one hour, non smoking was a
plus.
With the new renovations for the 2010 Olympics, there
were no places to eat breakfast-except the Food Court.
There on business and the convention room that is it's
own self contained area was nice with good service.
Additional service fee for the wireless connection but
paying once out of the 2 times we've been there is not
bad.
The place was okay, but I love Vancouver so being 15
minutes away from the city was awesome :) |

I was pleasantly surprised at the beautiful marina view
from my room. The decor was lovely. Room was very clean
and the Internet and desk allowed me to work in comfort.
I would highly recommend this hotel. The only thing I
would not rate as top notch is the dining. A bit pricey,
the cafe had a limited menu and prices were a bit high
for cafe dining. Overall, a very pleasant experience. |

Overall the hotel was in a convenient location for our
itinerary but the snobby service at the front desk left
a sour note. The suites were large and beds comfortable.
Although it was supposed to be a non smoking room, there
was smoke residue throughout the hotel - probably goes
with the casino clientele. We stayed out of the casino
based on other reviews we read. One plus is the hotel
did not charge a premium to exchange USD for CAD.
Concierge was very helpful. |

The rooms were great, beds were really soft. The two
bedroom suite was really big, fit 10 friends in it for
games. The casino was amazing. The staff at the bar
learned my name and would call me by it and wished me
happy birthday lots of times and waved by when we left.
The casino staff was a lot nicer then the hotel staff.
Went to Runway 27 for dinner. Was amazed at the food
choices, was really busy which was a turn off but the
food made up for this. Overall a really good stay just
wished the front staff would have done a better greeting
to me and to my guests. |

The casino resort hotel is almost a steal (I paid about
US$80/night for the suite via
www.Allure-hotels.com ). Big swimming pool
with slide and Jacuzzi but hardly any guest using it,
King-size bed with a huge living room attached,....etc.
The only drawbacks are the parking structure and the
quality of food (you can tell just by glancing at the
food court). Since kids are not allowed to walk through
Casino in Canada, my family had to walk a long way to
the faraway hotel entrance after parking my car in the
building across the street.
There are numerous excellent Chinese restaurants in the
nearby Lansdowne Mall and Aberdeen Centre which are
within five minutes drive. Some restaurants are even
open 7/24. So don't bother to eat in the hotel.

Excellent room, friendly staff, especially the valet
guys. Casino staff were fun and helpful.
A couple of opportunities for improvement.
1. Notify the guests of the ongoing construction BEFORE
securing the reservation. It was unexpected that the
hotel would be under construction and some of the
restaurants would be unavailable. They should provide
discount during construction.
2. The food was great at the buffet, the atmosphere
nice. But my husband had to go and get us our drinks
himself. We asked a passing server and she said someone
would come by soon. They never did. No one took our
empty plates, which piled up after a few visits to the
buffet line.
3. We ordered a bucket of water, which did not arrive
until furter reminder.
4. We asked for fresh batteries for non working TV
remote, which never arrived.
5. The front desk help friendy, but unfazed by my
comments, even though they asked, "how was our stay?"
You could at least say you were sorry.
We would stay here again, but will bring our own
batteries and water. We probaby will avoid the buffet in
the future as it 's not worth the money to be ignore by
the staff. |

We stayed at the hotel after our cruise to tour
Vancouver. There was plenty of parking in the parking
garage across from the hotel if you self park. Self
parking is free. The hotel check in was on the 3rd
floor. The room was a suite with a bedroom and a
separate sitting area each with televisions. The room
was nice, large and clean. Bed was comfortable. The
buffet always had a waiting list. We thought the buffet
was overpriced based on what was offered. We went off
the hotel grounds for dinner.
www.allure-hotels.com gave us a good rate. |

A very nice hotel, but unfortunately under construction,
not mentioned on the site during the booking. The 2
bedroom suite on the 8th floor and the view were
beautiful. The casino downstairs was for us parents a
nice form of entertainment. For the kids a very nice
swimming pool for their entertainment. The only negative
points is the industrial location of the hotel and there
was no place available to sit with the family outside to
drink something. The kids were of course not allowed in
the casino area and the rest was closed due to the
construction. The hotel itself it very nice, but next
time we will take a different location. |

We booked in for one night for the end of a two week
trip to Canada, and had one of the executive rooms. That
was fantastic - very comfy bed, nice bath/shower etc.
Ate at the more upmarket restaurant, which, whilst
pricey, was a lovely meal, and the staff were all
friendly and efficient.
However, having walked through the casino side on the
way in, it all felt a little depressing. Having never
been to any sort of casino before, I wasn't quite sure
what to expect - and seeing lots of miserable looking
gamblers was a bit off-putting. Also, you are VERY
observed whilst at the hotel - cameras everywhere. |

I came for a business trip and brought my wife. We found
the staff to be very professional and friendly. They
went out of their way to assist my wife for directions
and to find places to eat. At all times they were
courteous and responsive. The room was very clean and
the view of the river was excellent. I loved watching
the planes come in to land. I would and have recommended
this hotel to my colleagues and friends. |

Had stayed there for 5 days during Spring break.
Great service from all the staff. Good rooms.
Parking was a little confusing unless you use their
valet parking.
Business center was just a tiny corner. |

I truly believe the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond
is the closest thing to Las Vegas B.C. has to offer.
Overlooking the Fraser River, River Rock offers a
plethora of slot machines, poker tourneys, and a
Racebook area for fans of horse racing, as well as other
amenities such as a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet
($20 a plate/person), tropical-style swimming pool ($10,
plus you can use the hot tub and gym), onsite Absolute
Spa (offering facials, massages, hydrotherapy, and
more), and the River Rock Show Theatre, which features
950 seats and some great live acts. |

Drove in. Let Valet do the car - free parking at 3 storey
parkade is a mid-walk back to hotel, albeit more close the the
extensive Casino. Also, Valet is better security and all other
take in baggage and services, do add up. Check-in on 2nd floor,
very efficient. Enjoyed a package deal that was much-more than
anticipated. Offerings change and without one, it is worth every
nickel. Room was a suite (all suites); the bedroom and bed most
fabulous & large, my girlfriend and I were able to sleep with
our nightly aerobics w/flashing arms w/o hitting one another. TV
in this room too. Comfy robes provided, lighted closets. Water
provided. Goblets. Glasses. Coffee/tea mugs and maker and in
room fridge to use (not stocked) & a "safe".
So well appointed, nice tall seating (I'm disabled hip down) yet
can walk a flat surface, chairs are high enough -my booster
pillow not needed - but even regular folk prefer the higher
seating. On request they provided the best raised toilet top
w/hand bars for me to use and even offered a fully disabled
room. We stayed with this one, on a view of the river. Very
nice. No convenience was missed. All amenities in lush bathroom
w/soaker tub & huge rain-shower. Electronic Keys Secure.
Splendid decor & furnishing - well appointed in art, paint
shade, carpet pattern and comfy to walk with detail in tiles to
drapery. The only fault is although good air-flow, a window
would not open, would be nice to have a 2" nature hole. However
River Rock is better than some we stayed at Whistler (for the
price maybe similar in outlay) -for the price RR is the deal of
the century. Free newspaper in the doorway.
Runway 26 The Buffet is the best for value and price and
offerings in the lower mainland. We go just for the buffet
throughout the year. Entertainment is name and TicketMaster.
LuLu's is a lounge in the Casino to dance and sit and enjoy or
listen to within the confines of the near Slots. The other
restaurant is higher class, view on pier and white linens yet
better prices than a food fair at the airport and food Very Good
and Breakfasts to bar-none terrific. Don't let the outside and
inside of this book deter you, the prices are average anywhere,
just you'll feel like you're in as a VIP. Internet and TV as
internet $12 for 24 hrs. w/keyboard on coffee table (if you
didn't bring your own); also business centres for free internet
at public sites.
Sound proof is excellent as planes depart and land at YVR over
just beside. Not a bother in the hotel or room. You won't hear
your neighbours or plumbing either.
Recommended for us that live here and for those that want
quality without spending a bundle. The YVR SkyTrain opens in
Sept '09 and will whisk one to DT Vancouver or vis vis, so one
will not have to pay the Vancouver price. It's a heck of a
feeling to say so many wonderful things about such an
accommodating hotel. Even the staff refused a tip. We'd have to
press them to accept, yet walk with us to the elevator, take the
luggage, get ice, 24hr services; action; sleep and calm - make
it what you want. A resort it is. Relax or Party. River Rock,
Rocks. Free parking too, if you're up to a small walk from the 3
storey parkade which we use when just doing the "casino".
Was fun to be a tourist in my own town and highly recommended to
all. |
