We got our room, which was pretty spacious and had a beautiful
view of the mountains and the city of Richmond. It even had a
couch, which was nice because we had 4 people and there was only
one bed. The hotel was really humid though and the facilities
were in general not very good.
However, our problem started when I called in to ask for a few
more pillows so our two people that were sleeping on the couch
and on the ground would have a pillow. I went down to pick them
up, and they asked how many people we had. I said four, and then
they said they had to charge us $10 per person per night. I was
incensed, of course, and asked for this to be waived since we
were not aware of this charge before, as I booked the hotel via
Priceline, which doesn't let you specify how many people you
have. They were just really unfriendly to us. It felt like they
were treating us poorly either because 1) we're from the US, 2)
we look like college kids, 3) we didn't pay full price since we
booked online for $85/night when the normal price is like
$100/night.
We left the hotel a bit angrily (I mean, it's hard to stay at a
1-star hotel after staying at a 4-star one in Seattle). When we
came back to the hotel, the night manager told us that if we
didn't bug housekeeping, they wouldn't charge us for our 2 extra
people. Wow, awesome! We were joking that he was going to have a
hot date that night and that's why he was being extra nice to
us. I swore he even winked at the guy in our group... |

I booked a room through this site, which seemed to have the
cheapest rates. The Travelodge was clean and the staff was
friendly. The WiFi was $5 extra but worth it. I would stay here
again.
I stayed here with plans to visit Vancouver. One thing I wished
I knew before was that it takes a while to get to downtown
Vancouver, Stanley Park and Granville Island from here. On the
map it shows Highway 99 going into Vancouver except that Highway
99 is a surface street and there's plenty of stop lights to slow
traffic. I'd probably still stay here again because it's
affordable, clean and close to fantastic Asian food in Richmond,
but the distance and slow travel is something to factor into the
equation. |

We needed to stay at a hotel near the Vancouver Airport for an
overnight before an early morning flight for one of our family
members. We specifically booked this hotel because it has an
indoor pool and hot tub, at least that is what it says. The
hotel was okay, but the beds had a very soft mattresses. When we
went to use the hotel pool the water was very cold, not heated.
What's the point of having an indoor pool in March if it isn't
heated. And to top it all off the hot tub/spa was lukewarm and
wasn't even hot. We stayed in it for an hour, continually
resetting the timer and hoping the water would eventually get
hot, but it didn't. |

We arrived courtesy Air Canada just after 10:00 pm on a Sunday
night at the start of BC Spring Break when airlines were
frenzied. The restaurant closes at 10:00 pm and unfortunately,
despite the desk clerk asking whether they would stay open, the
restaurant manager decided to close it even though there were
several travelers sent to the hotel for the night because they
had missed their flights.
We went to an excellent restaurant at the Sandman hotel next
door, which is open later.
The room was clean and comfortable. It had an electric heater
with fan built into the window wall, like you get in an
apartment - it was OK and not too noisy. We slept very well.
I swam in the pool, which was spotlessly clean - after I got in
the maintenance man came with towels. He was testing the
chlorine and going to add chemicals at the pool equipment, not
directly into the pool. He knows how to take care of a pool.
The breakfast was good value and standard fare - pancakes,
omelettes, served for a late breakfast.
For an unscheduled stay the hotel was fine and we had a good
rest. It's not fancy, but adequate. We were desperate for
Internet access when we arrived to reschedule our flights - so
the desk clerk gave us the code for the WiFi that normally costs
$5. There is a computer in the lobby with free wired Internet
access that anyone can use - but only one. |

Choose the Travelodge Hotel because of where it was located near
the Vancouver Airport, at the corner of Bridgeport Road and St.
Edwards Drive in Richmond. The hotel had the Pantry Restaurant
in the lobby were we had our breakfast, it was good and
reasonably priced not your usual hotel type breakfast prices. We
were just staying overnight and the rate was good the room met
our needs for a quick overnight stay it was clean and
comfortable. I would use it again when flying out of Vancouver. |

shuttle arriving on time. No mess in check-in. I get what an
airport hotel for transit can offer, and comparing with other
Travelodge I have been in the States, Toronto and LONDON, I
would not hesitate to rank this one top five in my list. The
bedroom is nicely presented: no gimmicks, no flamboyance. You
get all the necessary urban convenience of an airport hotel.
Spacious bathroom with jet splashing shower experience.
Toiletries surpasses the standard of a three star hotel. The
armchair in my room is a plus to me, since I have stayed in many
a compact room in other trips with only a small canal for
passing my body between bed and wall. For enhancement, may I
suggest to provide toothbrush and paste, relocate the ice vendor
machines (going to the lobby to collect ice deters intentions),
and provide deli food or simple microwavable meals for those
arriving after 11 p.m. , of course, chargeable. Or install meal
vendor machines in the lobby as an added value to those who pay
and stay. |

While we were in the Vancouver area for a vacation, we had a
strict itinerary to adhere to so did not use hotel's facilities
except for sleeping.
We are always a bit surprised at the high cost of Vancouver
(British Columbia) hotels as compared to those in the US as just
across the US Canadian border in Bellingham, Washington, (and
to compare the same sized city, in Seattle) rooms are 1/2 the
cost, many starting at 56.00 a night for the same type of room. |
