My family and I gave our seats up while on layover in Vancouver and were comped a room at the Fairmont Hotel. Even though we only stayed there one night the room was absolutely fantastic; plenty of space, an open bathroom and the beds were so clean and comfortable to sleep in. The PERFECT room to relax in as soon as you get off an uncomfortable plane.
I can't really comment on the price as we stayed there for free; however, considering its location within the terminal, if you can swing it, this hotel is the best for early morning flights and for avoiding all the common stresses that come with airports.

We liked the the fact that the hotel was right on site at the airport. Our kids loved watching the airport activity from the room with the supplied telescope. They had fun in the pool and exercise room. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a great stay!

What a convenient hotel to stay at. I landed at 11:45 PM had to clear customs and then departed at 8:30 AM the next day. So staying here was basically a must. The room on the 9th floor was clean, comfortable and spacious. Unfortunately I really didn't get a chance to enjoy the hotel or it's amenities, but I would definitely stay here again. Yes the hotel is a bit expensive, but it's convenient and this is a GREAT hotel chain so you do pay for it. I've stayed at other hotels by the airport, but this one is the best by far.

The first time I stayed here, my flight was cancelled and I needed a room at the last minute - was offered an exceptionally good rate and extraordinary service. This trip I booked for the last night of my stay to make an early flight (and with the current increased security, early flight means really early) and once again the Fairmont Airport knocked me out. Service -as at all Fairmont's - was stellar, warm and friendly as well as top notch. Dinner at the Globe@YVR was lovely - friendly service for a solo diner (including the offer of a magazine) and the food was great (salmon with asparagus risotto - perfectly done). No noise at all - fun view of airport - and luxe accommodations that make for a very relaxing night before flying. I've stayed once at another "airport" hotel (the Hilton) and it was dismal and far away ... here, I merely popped down in the elevator and was right at the ticket counter in a minute - refreshed and smiling. If you need a last minute room, they will often offer a discount, so ask - and if you are staying at other Fairmont properties (such as Whistler) they often offer a discount as well.

Only negative I could hear the planes taking off and landing from my room. I expected the windows to be a little more soundproof, I've stayed in other hotels at airports and it's been a bit quieter. But this will not keep me from staying here again.

Whenever we are flying home to Alberta, we end up with a 12 – hour layover in Vancouver and we stay here each time. It is the perfect spot to catch some rest after a long flight.
Each bellman we’ve come across at the elevator going up to the hotel has been exceptional, dropping the luggage with them before going into check-in is quite nice.
If you arrive at a time when a few other people are checking in/out, it can take a few minutes to actually get to the check-in desk as they never seem to have a large amount of staff up front. Once you reach the desk, everything is very quick as everything is well prepared in advance.

The hotel is located right in the airport, right above the international departure check-in counters. It is a good walk down to the domestic terminal but all indoors. If you’re arriving on an international flight, it takes less than 5 minutes from the time you collect your bags until you reach the bellman. I’ve yet to come across an airport hotel that is so closely linked to the airport terminal.

If you’re staying in Vancouver for more than a day, this isn’t the place to stay, you’d definitely head into town somewhere which is better located to some sites, shopping or restaurants.

Room service is always prompt, professional, and very tasty. My wife absolutely loves the grilled vegetable wrap. We always leave earlier than breakfast starts, so have yet to try it.

We have stayed in everything from a standard room to one of their named suites. The beds are great in each. As are the separate showers & tubs. In the suites the bathrooms are gigantic and there is a small kitchenette, (for the life of me I have no idea why there is a kitchen in an airport hotel). During our latest stay, we were right overlooking the charter and US flights gates. We heard no noise even though at least 6 planes arrived during the night.

You can’t beat the location, and the beds and service are great for a rest after 20 hours of travelling. We will continue to stay here each time we have a lay-over in Vancouver.

We stayed at this hotel before moving on to Alaska so it was only a stopover for 1 night. The hotel is easily accessed through the airport and has everything you need. The bar is comfortable, the staff were polite, friendly and helpful, the rooms were fantastic, lovely and roomy and had that extra bit of luxury. The windows face directly onto Vancouver Airport but there is no outside noise heard. We didn't have time to head into the city but I think it's about 40 minutes away. All in all a highly recommended hotel for a stopover.

We booked the Fairmont because its actually part of the airport, we had a day and half stopover after a 22hr trip, and we didnt want to worry about travelling to and from the airport. It was more expensive than other hotels within a few kilometre's of the airport however it was certainly worth the extra.
We were very happy with the rooms, room service, gym, staff were very nice and accommodating. However the Most Impressive was the fact that they let us check in as soon as we arrived early in the morning (standard check in was probably around 3pm from memory, so on the booking i asked if it was possible to get an earlier check in - would have been happy with a couple of hours earlier - but i certainly didn't expect to be happily checked in as soon as we arrived!)
The only black mark we had was with the pricey internet work centres in the lobby.
The Fairmont provided exactly what we needed to relax and get over our jetlag with quality deluxe facilities and the convenience of its airport location, providing the perfect start to our holiday. I would strongly recommend to anybody with a stopover or just wishing to relax after flying in or before flying out.

Once again the Fairmont Vancouver Airport, Gold rooms, have delivered exactly what we needed. Sparkling clean well appointed rooms, absolutely no airport noise, and a quiet and well run lounge with excellent food and drink. If you are flying into or out of Vancouver airport, end the harried feeling of either scurrying to an early morning flight or trying to make the late ferry to Victoria after a late evening arrival by taking a breather at this lovely oasis.

The amenities with the gold rooms are worth the extra price paid. Make sure to mention your government or other discount abilities for them to be honoured happily. Have breakfast in the gold lounge rather than going down to the main dining room where the costs are quite expensive.

Concierge staff are extremely accommodating All in all an excellent way to start or end a trip. We will be back.

Concierge staff are extremely accommodating (almost to a fault: if someone's behaviour in the lounge is loud or boisterous then concierge staff appear to need "someone to complain" in order to enforce lounge guidelines - not a problem on this trip at all but worth knowing).

All in all an excellent way to start or end a trip. We will be back.

I occasionally stay overnight for a YVR flight, and have used the Executive Inn, Best Western, Marriott, Delta and a couple of others. They are all well priced, and offer shuttle service to the airport, and some provide free parking for up to 2 weeks.

But none come close to the Fairmont, which is literally within the terminal, and features an extraordinary level of creature comforts.

The bed was divine, the bathroom oversize and marble, there was NO noise- I mean, you couldn't hear any of the planes just outside the windows, and check in/out was absolutely painless.

The lounge and restaurant far outclass anything else at or near the airport. No pool, but hey, this is not a resort.

Conde Nast just rated this hotel as #2 in Canada-which I think is a stretch, but for an airport hotel, it's a destination in itself.
