Guest Reviews of the Delta Vancouver Airport Aug 17, 2008 Stayed at the Delta Vancouver airport in April whilst having a stop over in Vancouver. I primarily chose the hotel due to its location to the airport and the free bus service, late night arrival and earlyish departure meant I didnt want to cart my luggage downtown or pay a high taxi fare for a few days stay. My 2 night stay did give me chance to see Vancouver the next day though. One thing to beware of, the hotel is not in Vancouver but Richmond. Wasnt much of a problem for me but wouldnt be great if you were there for longer than a few days as it takes 35-40 mins to get to the centre of town. The bus stop is directly outside the hotel, Airport Station, and runs directly into town. I will point out that you need the exact change as they dont take notes, a bit of an inconvenience for a traveller that arrived the night before and only had notes! The rooms were a reasonable size and mine had 2 double beds. The bathroom was massive and there was plenty of hot water despite the number of rooms. The bar overlooking the river, Elephant and Castle, was shut for refurbishment whilst I was there but the restaurant was still open. Food was good, with a wide variety of choice although a little expensive but not overly so for a hotel. Would I stay there again? If I was doing a quick stop over then yes but if I was spending any time in Vancouver then I would look for somewhere closer to the town centre. Guest Reviews of the Delta Vancouver Airport Aug 16, 2008 I agree with the other reviews about the location and the friendly staff. From the time you check in the staff is helpful and friendly which is always a plus. Shuttle was great and the Elephant Bar restaurant was good. The room itself was small and outdated. In fact the hotel itself needs a new makeover....ie: popcorn ceilings, dark lighting. Great place for an over night stay but if your looking at touring Vancouver would stay closer to downtown as this hotel is far away! Also decent weight room. Tip on Vancouver: Lots to do, didn't have time. Heard the hop on/hop off bus tour is good! Guest Reviews of the Delta Vancouver Airport Aug 14, 2008 This hotel is perfect for business travelers on way to the airport, however it's in a terrible location if you want to be in the heart of Vancouver for a family vacation. It might have a technical address of Vancouver according to Priceline, but it's really in Richmond, which made it an over 35 minute trip to get to Stanley Park and hour to get out of Vancouver to go North to Whistler. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was fine and generally clean. They have a $12 a NIGHT internet charge which was ridiculous. Supposedly you can check webmail on the tv, but the keyboard provided didn't work. They supposedly have free internet in the lobby, but it took me 20 minutes to get connnected and my husband was never able to connect on his laptop. The ac was broken while we were there. The pool is very small. Don't bother with the Elephant & Castle restaurant. We went there late one night because it was conveniently located. I had roast beef with stuffed yorkshire puddings. It took forever for the food to come and when it arrived, my yorkshires were burnt black, the veggies were almost raw and obviously freezer burned and the roast beef must have surely come from a grocery store deli being cold, thin, and tasteless. The other restaurant is very good for buffet, but pricey. Kids under 6 are free. Kids under 12 eat for $9. Adults are $17 for the buffet, but it's still the best ooption since other breakfasts on the menu run $15. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again and I think this hotel was miscatergorized by Priceline as being in "Vancouver-region," when it should have been in the airport/richmond area on the map. Guest Reviews of the Delta Vancouver Airport Aug 7, 2008 Above average hotel. Even though this place is near the airport, you don't hear the planes above and the view out the window is pleasant - boats, water, mountains, etc. Very helpful staff, clean rooms, great Elephant & Castle restaurant next door. I'd stay again! Guest Reviews of the Delta Vancouver Airport Jun 11, 2008 Stayed here the night before an 8:00am flight. Room was very small but comfortable. Service was good and airport shuttle was right on time. This is an obvious choice for early morning air travel or connections but I would stay downtown if the flight was later in the day. |
