Guest Reviews of the Days Inn Vancouver Airport

Booked this hotel through here for a one night stay in before flying out of YVR.
we paid $110 inc tax (aprox £66) and for the money you can't really fault this
place, other than the slightly dodgy and dark walk after sunset to the transit
skyline station - which is only 5 mins walk away! YVR itself is <10 mins free
shuttle bus journey away!
Staff were excellent, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms were huge, well
equipped and clean. Free breakfast was great with lots of choice - toast,
bagels, pastries, fruit, waffles, coffee and juice.

Everyone knows lodging in Metro Vancouver is expensive. I had 2 rooms booked for
my and my uncle's family of total 6 people for $99.90, with no extra person
charges. Staff are friendly at check-in and check-out. They offered us 2 rooms
with the connection door in between so it was easy for both families to walk
around. Although the decor looked old and rooms are small, and they were out of
extra blankets when I asked, the service was not bad for the price. They also
have free breakfast in the morning, where you can choose from fresh fruits,
bagels, breads, milk & cereals, and hot waffles. The location is convenient. My
uncle's family took the free shuttle from the airport to the hotel. The shuttle
is shared with other hotels in the area, and this one was the last stop (but
also last one if you're leading to YVR). It's quiet and value, so overall, it's
not bad for the 4 night stay.

We had a brief visit to the Days inn Vancouver Airport the night before an early
domestic flight from YVR.
We arrived around 11pm and left by 6:20am the next morning so we didn't actually
spend much time at the hotel. Days Inn was easy to find on foot from the nearby
Bridgeport transit hub and first impressions were good.
The desk staff were very efficient and friendly - we even met the resident cat,
Freeloader. Our room up on the 7th floor was spacious and had everything we
needed for our short stay - a large king size bed, en-suite bathroom, widescreen
TV and even a computer to utilise the free internet. Everything was spotlessly
clean.
The hotel has an outside deck which offered birds-eye views of the industrial
neighborhood in which the hotel sits and also a fantastic sunrise the next
morning.
We found the hotel comfortable and quiet. We had a very peaceful, undisturbed
nights sleep in readiness for our early start. In the morning we sampled the
buffet breakfast before taking advantage of the free shuttle bus to the airport.
The hotel is very well run and the staff certainly go the extra mile beyond what
we've experienced in hotels of a similar nature previously. If we had to find
fault I'd say we found the cost of $150 a little excessive compared to what's
available at airports in the UK for example. Yes, you get good value in terms of
included freebies but I'd rather have paid less and not had internet and
breakfast given our brief stay.
Overall a minor gripe and generally we were very happy with the hotel and the
experience we had.

I'm a little wary of Days Inn properties. The last couple I've stayed at in the
States were run down or in lousy locations. This one was very nice. The room was
clean, beds comfortable and the breakfast was quite good. Seating space in the
breakfast room was a bit of an issue, but maybe we hit it at the wrong time.
We stayed here pre-cruise. When I inquired about long term parking, they told me
that they do not offer stay, park and fly packages, but they gave me a very good
tip about finding discounts at the YVR long term lot.
There were somewhat ominous signs in the elevator about making sure to hide
electronic equipment in cars, including GPS's, since they apparently have had
some breakins. This should be common sense anyway. In any event, we had no
problems leaving the car parked overnight.
Our room had two queens and we also had a rollaway. Adding the rollaway was a
tight fit, but it worked. I don't think I'd want to stay long term with a
rollaway in the room, but for a night or two, it was fine. |
