Guest Reviews Westin Wall Centre Hotel Vancouver Airport

A wonderful new Westin, located close to the Vancouver airport. We stayed here
with our kids over the New Year period. The staff were incredible and nothing
was too much trouble. The hotel was practically empty, but the staff went out of
their way on many occasions to ensure that our stay was first class.
There is simply nothing that I would fault the hotel on. The checkin, to valet
service ,to front desk service was impeccable in every regard.

My husband had a conference at this hotel recently and I decided to tag along
with him and bring our 3 yr old daughter. This is a very nice hotel located away
from anything walk able. The only place you might consider walking to is the
restaurant called "The Boathouse". You also have to cross a busy one way street
to get to this place. There is a restaurant in the hotel but it is very pricey.
I checked the menu for breakfast and for just my daughter and I to eat we would
have a $35 bill. There are no drink machines in this hotel either and if you
want a can of pop you have to order it from the restaurant for $3/can. The pool
is a long ways from any rooms and the corridor between the gym and pool was
freezing cold. The pool towels were also really small and looked worn. The pool
area is nice but I think the hot tub needed some attention b/c it really foamed
up when the jets came on indicating it needed some maintenance. Now to the room,
we had a King size bed which meant our room faced the planes coming in. I
happened to love this. The windows are floor to ceiling and at night with all
the lights out it looked gorgeous. Also, a beautiful view of the water. The road
traffice was a bit annoying but it was far from the worst I've dealt with. The
bathroom was the most luxurious I've ever stayed at. Separate shower and soaker
tub and very spacious. Another cool feature was that the TV is also an alarm
clock. I set it and woke up to the sound of water and the view of the canals in
Venice. I thought this was a nice way to wake up. Internet will cost you an arm
and a leg too. It was about $12 for 24 hrs of internet. I've stayed at budget
hotels that offered free wifi so I cannot figure out why a place as high end as
this would think of charging for internet. I couldn't even get free wifi in the
lobby or on the 15th floor as someone else mentioned in previous reviews. My key
would not allow me onto that floor. Pay per view movies are also over priced
however there were some that were more reasonable but old. This is a good hotel
for a stopover before flying out.

The hotel staff are very warm and welcoming. Our flights didn't leave till late
afternoon and they allowed a late checkout. Room was clean and had a nice
bathroom with shower and separate tub. Only complaint was that you can faintly
hear planes from time to time but this is expected being near the airport!
Shuttle runs every 15 minutes to airport. Would definitely stay again!

Whenever I tell people of my stay the Westin wall, they reply with, "oh, you
mean the Sheraton wall downtown", no- I mean the Westin Wall near the airport-
the one more people should check out! This hotel is absolutely visually stunning
and modern.
I will admit, it is in a weird somewhat industrial /automotive area, but do not
let that deter you. This was my second stay here- for conferences both times.
Rooms are very modern, and crisp, very clean, and have luxurious bathrooms-which
is always a nice treat! Bed and sheets were so, so nice. The bottled water in
the room was very expensive ( just looked, didn't buy), and the restaurant was
very classy as well. You have to try the vanilla bean creme brulee---best
dessert anywhere.
Ask for a room that faces the harbour/apartments, as it is away from the main
road( road busy 24 hours a day with airport traffic and trucks). Being so close
to the airport, you can hear and see planes throughout the day and night, but
you also have great views of the water, and city. Bring ear plugs if you are a
light sleeper!
Not much to walk to around the area-especially not at night, having a car or
transportation would be important if you want to get out and explore.
Very professional hotel and catering staff, business meetings were catered very
nicely, with alot of attention from staff- clearly they take pride in their
jobs.
