As with any room, getting a deal means a 'better rating'. This property was no
exception, having been emailed a reduced rate offer I snapped it up and it was
good value for the money spent.
No problem finding a (free) parking spot and check-in/out was quick and without
incident. The room was typical 'mid-range', including a decent TV, fridge, and
free wireless internet (slow at times).
This is a great location if you are going to the airport, and also if you are
trying to access the River Rock (casino resort), or the Skytrain station
adjacent, they are both a 5 minute brisk walk away. Also, Costco is adjacent.
I didn't try the free breakfast, and check-out was a decent 12 noon.

This hotel is very convenient to the airport, and to major highways. We booked
two Queen Suites, which were quite large with all the basic amenities. The major
problem is that both of the suites we booked, were supposed to be non-smoking,
but both rooms smelled strong of smoke. It was obvious that their non-smoking
policy is not enforced, and the rooms were not effectively cleaned when smoking
took place in them. There is an inner courtyard, and I found hotel guests
smoking away in the courtyard which permeated the whole facility.

Roughly comparable to a Holiday Inn Express/Hampton Inn/Fairmont, though not as
new as most of those these days, and unlike those it has a restaurant and bar.
The configuration is three stories, all rooms with an entrance from a balcony
that surrounds and faces onto a central courtyard with plantings. The single
elevator is at the lobby end of the courtyard, restaurant and bar are opposite.
The upper floors have larger rooms as their balconies hang out over the
courtyard a bit. The room I had on the northbound leg of the trip was a first
floor queen, a little on the small side but perfectly adequate, clean, with a
good shower and lots of hot water, breakfast coffee maker, small refrigerator,
and iron and ironing board in the closet. Going south a week later I had a third
floor queen that was larger, with a separate sitting area, and equal to the
other in all other respects. Unlike a previous reviewer's experience, there was
free wireless in both rooms with a strong signal, and in the larger room there
was optional wired internet, which I didn't use. Additionally there was a PC
with a printer in the lobby, so one could print out airline boarding passes.
Like many older properties, they still use beds with sheets, blanket and
bedspread, instead of the duvet with a little accent blanket over the foot; this
is either good or bad depending on your preference. Free shuttle runs
10 minutes earlier than the advertised time. On both occasions that I used it to
get to the airport, I was told by the desk clerk that "the shuttle leaves on the
hour and half hour, but be here fifteen minutes early," and sure enough, it came
10 minutes early and left as soon as loaded.

We stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago at the start of our trip to Mexico. We
wanted a hotel close to the Vancouver Airport that had a free shuttle. I have
seen the hotel numerous times I have been to Vancouver but have never stayed
there. It looked pretty nice. We checked in about 3pm which was right at check
in. The girl at the front desk was friendly but I wasn't sure if she knew what
she was doing or knew what rooms were available for the room type we wanted.
Anyways that was fine we went up to our room on the 3rd floor. It was a queen
room. A little small but the room was good. I thought the hotel corridors were a
bit dated and at night they were not well lit. Very dark through the corridors.
The info book in the room said there was a drink and snack machine on the second
floor so I went down there to get some snacks and a drink and there was only a
drink machine which annoyed me. Second time I went to get a drink from the
machine later that night what I wanted they were out of, which annoyed me again.
But the biggest annoyance with this hotel was the internet. They had a wired
internet and the lady and the front desk said they didn't have wireless when we
checked in but I could tell there was wireless cause of the connections maybe
not available to the whole hotel which if your going to have wireless make it
available to whole hotel and who still has wired internet now anyways. After
numerous calls to the front desk to try and get the internet working cause it
wouldn't work we finally got it working. But I was pretty annoyed after that.
The breakfast was okay. It wasn't big which was fine for me. But also wondered
about the free wine reception was never told about that when we checked in. All
in all it was an okay hotel for a overnight stop but not sure if I would stay
there again.
