Guest Reviews of the River Rock Casino Hotel Resort

By most measures, the River Rock Resort is one of the nicest hotels in the
Western Canada if not the Pacific Northwest. It has an impressive public areas,
top class accommodations and good food. The casino is large, smokeless and
offers gamblers a wide variety of entertainment, but the place was nearly empty.
Okay, it was mid-week and just after the end of summer vacation season. Still,
this is in Richmond, right in the middle of greater Vancouver and right on a
Skytrain line. Maybe I don't understand the seasons here but I can't explain why
I never saw anyone on the elevators or on my floor other than the maid, the main
lobby, casino and the free continental breakfast largely empty.
We traveled with another couple so we decided to share a suite. It was a corner
unit with a large common room, a bath and two bedrooms, one with a queen and the
other a king bed. All the rooms had HDTV's with cable. The common room was
equipped with a coffee maker, tea bags and a fridge. All very nicely appointed
with chairs, couch and coffee table. The suite overlooked the patio and grounds
and a river view. The bedrooms had a desk, chair and closet with heavy terry
cloth robes.
As for future trips, even though we enjoyed the stay, we're not real gamblers so
we'll probably stay downtown next time. Hmm, maybe I answered my own question.

We recently held a business conference at the River Rock with great success. The
conference staff was most attentive and timely with all of our group events. The
conference rooms were well appointed and meals were well prepared and always on
time. The guest suites were clean and enjoyed by all in our group. There were
however two weaknesses here: the wait staff in the buffet breakfast restaurant
were the laziest and least attentive servers we had ever come across in any of
our hotel stays...they could not care less about the guests; we even had to get
up and find coffee pots to fill our own cups because table checks were
non-existent! Also, our group, several who were avid gamblers, found the casino
lifeless and boring....many didn't even bother gambling on the second night.

We travel alot to Vancouver for both business and pleasure. We love the River
Rock especially now that we have learned how to commute on the Skytrain
downtown. We use it to go to the Canucks games, which is faster than driving,
saves you the $40 for parking and you can have a beer or two at the game and not
worry about driving.
The hotel is always clean, the staff are always friendly and efficient. The
rooms are well layed out with lots of room. The food is excellent at all venues.
The casino is always updating their look which is always fun.
On occasion, we have tried other hotels just to see, but always come back to the
River Rock. There packages are great value too.Guest Reviews of the River Rock Casino Hotel Resort

I have stayed here many times and have not had one bad experience. The staff is
very polite and professional. Our last visit, they stored our bikes in their
luggage room for us, no problem. Offered an upgrade and made sure we were
pleased with the room once we settled.
The location is excellent, very close to eat street and the best of Richmond's
Asian shopping.
This hotel has an awesome pool and the rooms are very nice with a separated
bedroom. |
