Guest Reviews of the Comfort Inn Vancouver Airport
12 September 2011
We are choice hotel members and we always look for one to stay in when we
travel. We did a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska and went three days early to
see Vancouver. We saw the Comfort Inn near the airport and thought it would be
perfect. We were greatly disappointed. The staff was not friendly, the room
smelled like mold and the carpet almost felt slick. The normally free
continental breakfast was NOT free and the complimentary internet service also
was NOT free. This hotel seems very old and in need of much repair. This is a
very poor representative of the choice hotel chain. We would never stay here
again!

Had "poolside" room with 2 double beds, room clean, but linens "paper thin" on
beds and towels also very thin. Walked from Skytrain station (about 10 mins),
free shuttle from Airport, Breakfast only served in restaurant. Nice pool area.
Italian Tomato, Subway, Burger King, Starbucks within walking distance, Cold
Beer & Wine on premises. Would probably stay at Days Inn next time, a little
more "modern".

We stayed at this hotel for two nights with family. We found it listed on the
"Choice Hotels" website. Our room was clean and VERY large -- but a little
strange! We were on the top (4th) floor and the ceiling was very high--maybe 12'
tall. Strangest thing was the windows--there were lots of them all along two
walls, but they were only about 2ft tall and way up against the ceiling so we
could only see clouds! It was a little weird not being able to see out. We sort
of felt we were in a big disco room. We had two nice big queen beds though, plus
a pretty comfortable sleeper sofa. Also in room was another small sofa and
dining table with 6 chairs, desk, fridge, and plenty of space. We were
disappointed that there was no free continental breakfast (although the manager
said the new owners may add it later this year). We were told parking was free,
but it was added to our bill (then taken off when we asked). Parking wasn't
great. There were only a few spaces in front. First night we found a space
against the building, but the second night we had to park around the corner
which didn't seem very safe (made my son go with me to park). We didn't have any
Canadian money for the vending machine and the hotel ATM didn't work, so we went
to the liquor store next door (in the same building) for sodas and snacks. The
liquor store employees were really nice and took our American cash (giving us
Canadian $ in change) and also gave us directions to the ferry to get to
Victoria the next day--they even printed us out a map! The area seemed a little
seedy, but we didn't experience anything unusual (I don't think I'd walk around
by myself though).

I spent a night in Vancouver and choose this hotel through Travelocity Secret
Hotels. Great price. The bed was absolutely wonderful. The shower was hot and
had lots of pressure. Scenery outside the window -- leaves something to be
desired but I didn't come for the view. Would recommend to anyone for an
overnight stay.

Do not know what all the complaining is about, this is an airport hotel, located
in an industrial area. Room was clean, AC worked, pool was clean, staff was
courteous. Courtesy shuttle pickup was on time and all staff we encountered were
friendly!
Located in the middle of nowhere, the nearby restaurants were fine. We ate at
nearby "Italian Tomato", and food was great, portions way too large!
We ended a 7 day business + 3 day add on pleasure trip here, and the room
compared favorably with Vancouver Westin Grand, and much better than others. For
about $100 it was convenient for our early morning flight. Except for being in
an industrial area, which did not bother us, we would stay again!
