Guest Reviews of the Hampton Inn Vancouver Airport Hotel
14 October 2011
We stayed here one night on 10/3 before a return flight the next morning. The
lobby is in the the throes of renovation and maybe there is some painting going
on in the covered parking area, but I saw no signs of active work or signs to
discourage parking there. We had to move our car to accommodate the workers.
Then we go in the lobby which is filled with loud high pitched hammering sounds
-- they're installing floor tiles. I'm trying to be patient. We go our room
which is your standard old-school Hampton Inn room but it is clean. We head out
to dinner and return to a cigarette-smoke filled hall. Smoke has seeped into our
room. I can't believe we're in a non-smoking hotel with a card game in a room
down the hall with the door open and adults smoking like it's 1960. We
complained and the hotel management sprayed air-freshener (REALLY?) in the hall
and stopped the offenders. The damage was done though. Next morning, super small
breakfast room is packed with tourists and business people but I understand,
have patience and am happy to be leaving. Walking to the car, you could really
smell the aforementioned fishy sewer smell.

Its not just the renovations in the lobby that make this hotel what it is. Upon
arrival they asked me if I wanted to downgrade my room because they wanted to
prepare for renos elsewhere, why did they have me make a reservation if they
wanted to change where I was? And Richmond has a little bit of a funny smell -
fish meets sewer. I guess that is not the hotel's fault. The location is great
for anyone flying, but I would not stay at the hotel again.

I stayed for three nights while in town on business. The hotel is in the process
of renovating the lobby, but it didn't bother me much. Hotels have to do this
from time to time. I was only able to partake of breakfast once, since the other
two mornings I left before 6, but it was what I expect from Hampton, sufficient
and tasty. The room was a good size and clean, the bathroom was a little small,
but clean. My only complaint from this stay was that the cover for the tissue
box came off on the first night and the housekeeping staff did not communicate
this to maintenance. It was still off when I checked out. Felt safe leaving the
rental car in the parking lot, noticed security personel. Also, a previous
reviewer mentioned the parking was limited. I didn't feel this to be the case.

Everything was pretty well said by the previous three reviews. Just want to add
few things.
I stayed here on 8/15-18 for three nights. When I arrived at the front desk 1 hr
before the check in time, the front desk customer service Cynthia put a rush on
a quiet room ( Top floor, end of the hall, facing the rear ) that I requested
for, and the room was ready in 5 mins. I also asked questions about the safety
of my car ( Read some reviews of other hotels in the area and one of the hotel
begin with a letter " T " had numerous break in to the car at night ), she
advised me that they had a security person worked at night and patrol the
parking area. On the same night ( 11 Pm ) when I return to the hotel's parking
lot, a security person did sitting in his car watching the lots. Parking spaces
are ample, they had a extra parking lot next to the Day's INN and across from
the security person, and half the guests are arrived by shuttle bus.. Most
important, me and my family had a good night of sleep.
