| The Sandbar on Granville Island |
Situated in the middle of one of the city’s hotspots, under the Granville Street
Bridge, this architecturally intriguing restaurant captures everything that is
unique and amazing about living in Vancouver, from the stellar scenery to
succulent seafood.
The menu is chock-full of freshly landed local catch: wild salmon, Dungeness
crab, prawns, clams and mussels.
Over a century ago...
Snaug (Granville Island) was known as "the great sandbar" where local tribes
came to enjoy the rich bountiful fish & the serenity of the location.
Today...
The locals come to enjoy The Sandbar's soulful room, fresh seafood & uplifting
music to nurture their senses at the deepest level.
The Sandbar is a 300-seat fresh seafood and fish restaurant in the heart of
Vancouver's world-famous Granville Island. Perched over the waterfront with
views from every seat in the restaurant; guests can enjoy the bustle of the
market, the non-stop energy of False Creek & the shores of Vancouver's West End.
Up the wood post staircase (the only item that was salvaged from the historic
Mulvaney's Restaurant site), the restaurant opens into the main dining room
displaying art from the Emily Carr class of 2001. The busy animated open kitchen
gives the guest that 'Granville Island Market feeling' plus an up-close look at
the chefs as they prepare their seafood creations. The Crush Wine Lounge houses
over 1800 wine bottles chilled to perfection at cellar temperature. The Teredo
Bar is the 'hot spot' of the room, equipped with an antique wooden floor for
dancing to the tunes of our DJ, Wednesday through Saturday.
Suspended above the bar in the Teredo Lounge is Kivi, a 24-foot salmon troller
hand built by Allan Farrell, one of the west coast's finest craftsmen of wooden
boats.
