I haven't stayed here, but their lounge ... wow! Lovely. If you want a
traditional clubby type atmosphere, this is your place. Attentive service,
tasty, tasty, tasty drinks, and really delightful rich snacks in front of a
roaring fire. Lovely old dark wood richly upholstered poshness. When you're in
the mood for that sort of thing, this is your place. I particularly recommend
the pizza, it's got a perfect super-crisp thin crust. Walk through the Hornby Street entrance, and Bacchus Restaurant's attention to
detail is immediately apparent. You are instantly surrounded by luxury, with
richly upholstered furniture, warm, dark wood, and light fixtures imported from
Venice personally by owner Eleni Skalbania. A large canvas depicting Bacchus
himself, Greek god of wine and revelry, presides over the room.
One recent visitor wrote a thank you note, referring to them as "mind readers -
astounding!" Actually, it's just par for the course at Bacchus Vancouver
Restaurant, a diamond in the heart of Vancouver's Wedgewood Hotel, downtown.
This is one of those Restaurants that is meant to host the most Special of
Special occasions.
