Hotel reviews of the Comfort Inn and Suites North
Vancouver
Sep 7, 2008
Upon arrival I found the room extremely small and tucked into a corner of the
premises. This room may not represent the motel since I was a single and the
facility was full. It was old, but freshly painted.
Over my two days I became more and more disappointed. The switch on the desk
light was broken and controlled by plugging it in. Early in the morning I
started to hear static from the alarm clock. I realized the on/off, and alarm
switch moved effortlessly and was impossible to control the setting. Only way to
control was to unplug or turn volume completely down so I would not hear the
noise.
On the second day, I realized a dirty towel I had intentionally left on the
floor (others I had hung up) was folded and back on the rack. As I looked the
bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous day, trash had not been emptied
and dirty glass had not been replaced. Room did not even have a box of Kleenex.
The TV on/off was controlled by the set itself, volume and channels had to be
controlled by remote.
To top it off the pool was green and closed by management. My opinion of Comfort
Inn has dropped from this experience.

Our stay at the Comfort Inn in North Vancouver was an absolute pleasure and at a
very reasonable cost. I would recommend this property to anyone who will be
visiting Vancouver and plans to have an automobile as their main source
transportation. The hotel is NOT in downtown Vancouver, but with a little
planning, is a mere 5 - 10 minutes away.
The hotel is located two minutes from the Lions Gate Bridge which connects North
Vancouver with Stanley Park. A short drive through the park (via the highway)
and you are in downtown Vancouver. The benefits of staying in North Vancouver
include lower cost hotels, ample parking for your auto or rental car, more quiet
than downtown and safer for families with children, and quick & easy access via
car to the hustle and bustle of downtown.
The Comfort Inn offers a continental breakfast included in the room rate. Self
serve lego waffles, english muffins, scones, muffins, fresh fruit, choice of 3
dry cereals, oatmeal, coffee, tea and a selection of 5 juices were offered.
The hotel also has a pool which is open daily until 10 pm It was clean and warm.
Free wireless hi speed internet is offered free of charge and available in every
room. There is also a computer in the hotel lobby which is free for guest use
and has internet access. Rooms have coffee makers, irons, ironing boards and
hair dryers. Some rooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves. All
rooms have cable t.v. The A/C-heater units were dated, but worked effectively.
There is a laundry room available on the premises for guest use.
The guest rooms are clean and adequate for up to four people. Nothing fancy
here, but I should comment that the beds were very comfortable and there were
ample pillows provided for comfort. The property is a little spread out. The
building where the office resides has a small outdoor courtyard. The main
building is L shaped and two floors high (with no elevator). Ice is available in
the laundry room.
The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. They were happy to assist
with directions, offer dining suggestions, they are armed with coupons from many
of the area businesses and tourist attractions as well as maps of greater
Vancouver. I get the sense that the employees enjoy their jobs and working at
the hotel. They really aim to please.
The hotel location is most convenient to Stanley Park, Capilano Park and Grouse
Mountain. The Park Royal Mall is also nearby. There is nothing really in walking
distance (except a pizza place and a gas station), but the Mall is just a few
minutes away by car. There are also other shopping stores and groceries close
by.
There are two bridges to access the downtown Vancouver area. Both can be VERY
congested during rush hour. If you can plan your driving time outside of rush
hour, this is a very convenient place to stay. I paid $125 per night plus tax
for each room with 2 queen beds. I searched for the price all over the internet
and then called the hotel directly and asked if they could offer the best rate I
found. They honored the same rate without the crazy cancelation policies that
many internet sites hold you to. I guaranteed the rooms on my CC and could
cancel up til 4 pm the day of arrival.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my stay at the Comfort Inn Family
Suites. I had also considered the North Vancouver Hotel, the Best Western and
the Grouse Inn. I feel that I definitely made the best choice staying at the
Comfort Inn.

We were looking for a hotel which did microwaves and refridgerators as we had to
make bottled milk for our 6 month old and store it. We also wanted to have a
seperate room for us to sit in on an evening and her to sleep. A suite was the
obvious answer and after not getting into Times Square because they were full
one night we looked further afield. And I'm glad we did.
We specifically asked for a "quiet room as travelling with infant" and were
given the end room downstairs. It had a basic bathroom which was perfectly
adequate, a large king bedroom with plenty of room to manouver and a lounge /
kitchenette. The kitchenette comprised of a microwave, a sink and a fridge with
a small table and two chairs to eat at. The lounge was part of the same room and
had 3x 2 seeter settees with plenty of space to move around in.
The location is OK, you can get into Vancouver downtown on the bus from Marine
Drive and if you want to bus to Capilano Mall area you can get the water ferry
instead. But ot be honest you'll want a car. Traffic backs up going into the
city on a morning and evening but nothing other than 3-4 lanes having to merge
down to 1 to get over the Lions Gate bridge. There is a small Shell garage
across the road where you can get milk and cereal etc if you want food and a
Domino's pizza etc in North Van (large pizza $10) if you want to go further
afield.
All in all this is a perfectly adequate place to stay and if I go back to
Vancouver then I would definitely stay again. The only down side (and the reason
why it gets 4 not 5) is that the walls are thin. We heard the noise of water
when people flushed the loo or had a shower and we could also hear the TV or
people talking loudly in the room next door but to be honest it didn't bother us
and our daughter slept right through it.
