What a fantastic little hidden gem! This hotel is fantastic. We stayed for 3
nights and really enjoyed our stay.
The rooms were very well done and very modern. Excellent bedding and fantasic
view of the river from the balcony.
This hotel is located right on the river and provides a fantastic place to
stroll along the boardwalk! You can pop next door to the pub for a casual meal
(they even have a family section where kids can go) and listen to live music, or
go the more posh route and hit up the Boathouse for a fantastic seafood meal
(quite pricey)
The main shopping street of New West is about a 2 minute walk and there is a sky
train station right there as well. It took about 10 minutes on the skytrain to
get right downtown, or 3 minutes to Metrotown mall for a shopping day!
The hotel provided free newspapers, internet, wifi, and a very friendly and
helpful front desk staff that could answer all our questions.
We did see some negative reviews of train noise...in 3 days we never were
bothered by any trains or train noise.
We will be back to this hotel again in the future!

We picked this hotel for a one night getaway using Internet research and Trip
Advisor feedback. Over all we were happy with the choice as regards hotel
location and overall condition of the room and public spaces.
There were two glitches, however, one minor and one more significant.
The minor one is that the hotel description says most rooms have a balcony. When
I booked online, I saw no option to choose a balcony room. We were a little
disappointed to find we were assigned to one of the non balcony rooms. We were
advised the hotel was almost full when we arrived, so no upgrade option. My
advice is to check with the hotel directly if a balcony room is desired.
The second glitch is more significant in my view. The property is advertised as
completely non-smoking. When we checked in, we were assigned a room on a high
floor and headed to it. When the elevator opened, we immediately smelled smoke
and there was a sign on the wall indicating this was a smoking floor. We went to
the room and while it was clean and absent ashtrays or other smoking
indications, the smoke smell still was detectable.
We abandoned the room and returned to the desk. When we reported this to the
clerk, her response was " Oh, it must be the groomsmen.." It turns out the hotel
was hosting a large wedding party, with apparently a large contingent of
smokers. Also apparently, the hotel did not seem motivated to enforce the non-
smoking rule
They were able to supply a smoke free room on another floor, but there was a few
hours delay to have it available. With only a one night stay, this affected our
planned agenda..
While the second room took care of the smoking issue, my expectation when
booking a completely non smoking hotel is to, well, not have to deal with the
smoke!
It seems that this hotel may not take the non smoking concept as seriously as I
do..

Clean and comfortable rooms, adequate bathroom. Super location on the river.
Boathouse restaurant is great. Wedding parties on the weekends partied in their
rooms - would not quiet down, so no sleep. Mgmt did not help.

The location of this hotel is awesome. Right at Westminster Quay and the flower
lined walkway. Close to the Skytrain to take you downtown, and surrounded by
lots of restaurants and interesting shops.
The hotel is very clean, comfortable beds and good service. a bit noisy at night
(trains, ships), but overall, a good experience. |
