I was a little leery when I booked this since my budget only allowed for a semi
private room, however at check in I was upgraded to a private bath so that made
it an even better value. The room was adequate size, bed was older not very
plush, but everything was clean. The small refrigerator was handy. Location is
probably better than I experienced, it took me my whole stay to figure out where
to find inexpensive eating places (turn right and go over to Robson) and how to
get around on the transit. As a result I walked far too much :-).It is on the
farthest edge of the downtown area (across from BC Stadium), so it is quite a
hike to things like Canada Place or the main shopping, more than I can do, so
you'd need to figure out the transit system. I bought an all day pass for $9.
Also, be aware that there are no airport shuttle buses from this part of
downtown, so you will need to take a taxi for about $30 Canadian each way.
I didn't find the lobby snack bar very useful, no sandwiches and limited
pastries. On last day I found the IGA (over on Robson). Laundry facilities were
reasonable prices, internet access in the lobby was also very reasonable, and
public library a few blocks away allows guest use of the internet for free. Safe
location on Beatty between Georgia and Robson. Other quests seemed to be seniors
and young adults backpacking or biking, all seemed friendly.
Biggest complaint was how noisy the heat/ air conditioning unit was. I turned it
off when I went to bed. You are in a big city, so there is some street noise if
your room is in the front.
Overall, if I could afford something more central I would prefer that. If you
can only afford this hotel or not stay in downtown area, then the YWCA is a
great value. Next time I'll know my way around better.

My husband and I stayed here for a total of five nights and felt the hotel was a
very nice value for the price.
We had a room with a private bath and it was very clean.
The front desk staff was especially nice and made us feel welcome. It was not a
luxury hotel, but I would recommend it to anyone who wanted both economy and
safety.

I stayed in YWCA for a week. It was very comfortable and the staff are very
friendly. The location is also accessible to many important places like Robson
street, China Town and also very near to the Sky train station

This is so close to my tiny apartment, that a group of friends who traveled up
stayed here. The location was how they found it, but the price made it a deal.
There room was under $100. 3 people stayed in there- it had a double and two
twins.
There's a lot of options here- do you want a private shower/washroom,
semi-private, or are you fine with the hall washroom. My friends opted for the
semi-private. When I visited their room, they explained how it worked. It seemed
nice and legit. I suppose you might not want to leave stuff around the sink
though- since others will be in there too. (Hopefully no one would use your
toothbrush..but you never know!)
In the lobby they have some computers hooked up with internet- you have to pay
for it, but it's cheap and convenient. Also a small coffee shop is attached to
the lobby too.
Quite a good deal.

We stayed at the YWCA for three nights and it was perfect. Perfect price and
location! Walking distance to everything that you could possibly need or want to
see. China town, Robson Street, the Trolly system, Aquabus system, Skytrain
system and many fabulous restaurants.
Very clean and quiet no complaints!

I stayed here for 2 nights while I accustomed myself with the city before
heading off inland on the greyhound bus. I really don't have anything bad to say
about this place. Great location, clean, good service and just a general good
vibe about the place. If you're looking for somewhere quiet that is close to
downtown, YWCA is your best choice.

This was my second time staying at the YWCA, having previously stayed there in
December 2008. They're still as great as ever!
We opted to stay here as a group of six women on a bachelorette party. I had
actually booked the quint room almost a year in advance, and it was no problem
to throw a cot in the room for our sixth guest.
Front desk staff were very friendly upon my check-in at 1 a.m.! I was actually
the last to arrive but discovered that my friends were allowed in with no one
having paid yet. Surprising, but very accommodating. They also offered to let us
split the room among six different credit cards with no problems.
The hotel's location once again made for an easy walk to both Yaletown and the
shopping on Robson St. We never felt in danger; the hotel's security of making
us check in our keys before we left at night put us at ease.
The room itself is very simple but typical of budget accommodation: twin beds,
one towel and bar of soap per guest, a bar to hang coats/dresses, some shelving,
a small fridge, and a desk with a TV. For what we wanted--a clean yet
inexpensive stay--the room definitely fit the bill.
Checkout couldn't have been simpler: give them the keys and they'll give you a
receipt. Done! BONUS: If you need a cab, ask the front desk to call one for you.
They'll likely contact Jerry of Jerry's Cabs, provided he's working. You'll
never have a nicer conversation on your way to the airport!
If I head up to Vancouver again, I'll DEFINITELY try to stay here first.

Clean, cheap, secure, and located in downtown area. The people down in the
reception are really friendly and helpful. The hotel was always full of young
people. Nice place to stay if you're looking for something cheap and
comfortable.

The front desk staff helped make my trip comfortable. They were so helpful,
efficient and friendly and I'd definitely go back. The location is great and the
coffee bar in the lobby is convenient. The best deal in town.

We chose a room with one Queen bed and private bathroom, it was very very nice
with all the amenities you have in a 4 star hotel, it wasn't a big room though,
but for us was more than enough, since we didn't spend much time there. I
specially liked the fact that the sink, mirror and hairdryer were outside the
washroom which makes it easier for two people to get ready in the morning. The
front desk staff were extremely helpful giving advices how/where/what to visit.
I also liked the fact that you need the room key, to have the lifts running
