The YWCA Hotel 733 Beatty Street is across the street from BC Place, where
the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Games are scheduled to take
place. This 11-story, 155-room tower was built in 1995 and has the look of a
modern university dormitory — Ikea-esque furnishings, common kitchens, TV
lounges, hall baths for about one-third of the rooms. (The rest have private or
semi-private bathrooms.)
Design is not the goal here, however. The YWCA has a higher purpose: helping
travelers in need. That can mean everyone from refugees and women escaping
domestic violence to foreign professors attending academic conferences to people
who’ve simply lost their wallets and need somewhere to stay for the night.
Winter room rates start at 58 dollars, and about 30 percent of that goes to fund
the Y’s many social-service programs.

I stayed at ywca@beatty street in dec while attending a conf.
you get the following: friendly staff, clean & warm rooms, good housekeeping and
great ambiance. count on the front desk staff for any assistance and help. in
fact if you wish you could stop reading at this point and get the rest from the
front desk!
the hotel has an almost ideal location. Robson st and Georgia st are full of
shops and cafes. important ones are London drugs, sears, (pacific and bay are
lil more costly) a good Indian restaurant India gate on Robson. add to this
Vancouver art gallery and Vancouver public library virtually next door to ywca.
and and of course this is just 5 mins walk from Vancouver central skyline
station. even Stanley park is just a walk away for the health conscious! this is
true of any other hotel in Robson and Georgia, but ywca is friendly to yr
pocket. cost is cheap but not the quality! highly recommended for ppl on a
budget, esp students.

we only stayed one night, but wished I had booked for longer. Very clean rooms
and well equipped for budget accommodation. If you are thinking of getting a
private room in a hostel, this is the best option. We had stayed previously in
HI Vancouver Downtown, and this was a much nicer room. We were really high up
and got great views of the city, plus hotel extras like towels, bathroom, and tv.
This hostel is an economical option which is clean safe and comfortable. They
had great service. Would highly recommend
