These Vancouver Hotel reviews are the subjective opinion of a Guest and not of Allure Hotels any
concerns or request can be made at time of booking either on-line or on the
phone. Jun 25, 2008
There's not much left to be said that hasn't already been said. The hotel is in
a very good Hotel Location - a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the
waterfront but still close to Robson Street and some good restaurants. It would
take about 20-30 minutes to walk directly down to the waterfront or Gas Town.
I requested a high floor in the north tower with an early check-in and late
check-out and the hotel accommodated. While I did not see any of the rooms in
the south tower, just being inside the south tower led me to believe it was the
older building. Everything is a little closer together and the decor darker.
However, the business center is located in the south tower so that may be a
consideration for some.
The north tower, by contrast, is very light, airy and the rooms have wonderful
floor to ceiling windows that actually open a little to allow for fresh air. The
health club is also in the north tower and is free of chrage for hotel guests.
The indoor pool and jacuzzi tubs were loved by my kids. Starbucks is also in the
north tower.
Each tower had an airline check-in kiosk in their respective lobbies, something
I have come to love with Sheratons and other hotels. However, the kiosks were
only good for some carriers and while my carrier (Alaska/Horizon) was one of the
options, I couldn't get the system to accept my information. I ended up in the
business center which didn't cost me anything to log on to the internet and
print my boarding passes.
A few blocks south of the hotel you can board the tiny False Creek Ferry to
Granville Island which has wonderful shops and restaurants. The ferry also goes
to a few other places close by and is a cheap alternative to driving to the
island and trying to find a space to park.

Stayed at the Sheraton Wall in February . Excellent Hotel Location , very spacious ,
modern room . Facilities ok , the hotel is split into two wings with a small bar
and restaurant etc.. A great choice for easy walking access to downtown
Vancouver , found the staff all very helpfull.

Stayed here as part of a rocky mountaineer package deal. Upon check in we asked
for rooms well away from the elevators. so what did they give us? 3 rooms right
next to the elevators of course! this made for poor sleep as it was sat night so
the lift bell (it dings ludly when it reches you're level!) was 'ding-ing' all
night long!
The leisure facility was very poor and very dirty, although the jacuzzi was a
good size, and i went for a dip as the bath tubs in the rooms were too small.
overall, i would try something a little more modern and this hotel has seen its
best days.

I agree with the comments made by the last two reviewers. I stayed at the
Sheraton for four nights recently prior to an Alaskan Cruise. I booked the hotel
directly and requested a room in the North Tower, high floor which is exactly
what I got (26th) floor. I got the airporter bus from the airport which drops
you off at the Sheraton. This is really easy, you come out of the doors of the
arrival hall and it is literally to your left just outside the main doors. It is
13 CAD for one way. Anyway, when the bus dropped me off I walked into the South
Tower and they checked me in and pointed me in the right direction to the North
tower, which is literally just across a patio area. I was really pleased I had
requested the North Tower as it is much newer, obviously I didnt see the rooms
in the South Tower, but the reception area was much older than the North Tower.
I thought the room was lovely, huge bed, when I drew back the curtains and saw
the view wow! felt dizzy, I think due to the jet lag.
My room was facing the main street, so I suppose first thing in the morning for
some people they would find it a little noisy. Traffic noise doesnt bother me
and after all you are booking a hotel right in the downtown centre. Hotel was in
an excellent position, plenty of restaurants all around. There is a handy deli
shop literally across the road, this shop is on three floors and sells a wide
range of good food. There is a tiny coffee shop in there too. One downside, if
you want wine for your room, this shop does not sell alcohol. There are two
specialist wine shops, one belonging to the Sheraton on the corner of the hotel,
and one belonging to the Sutton place almost next to the Market Place shop. I
think these are predominently wine shops - didnt notice any other type of
liquor, bu maybe there is some.
I found the staff friendly, in fact I couldnt get over how friendly all the
Canadians were. I used the pool in the hotel for an early morning swim and it is
a decent size.
I didnt eat in the hotel restaurants, so can't comment but did use the Starbucks
for a quick breakfast and coffee.
I was pleased with my choice of hotel and if ever I go back to Vancouver I would
not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to other travellers.

I stayed one night here attending a conference at the hotel.
I was on the north tower/east side on the 14th floor so didn't have the hospital
sounds a previous reviewer experienced. View was fantastic and rooms have floor
to ceiling windows (literally) so I really felt like in the middle of the
metropolis that is Vancouver. King bed was HUGE (California king) and the sheets
were a bejillion count (almost satin) with 8 pillows. Furnishings were all new
and the layout of the room was good with bed separated from the office area
(although the TV was a little far away to see easily from the bed). I assume
room layout varies as the tower is oval shaped, so the rooms along the east/west
sides are longer and a little larger while the rooms on the north/south sides of
the tower are smaller. Bathroom was adequate and tub had one of those curved
shower rails that gives you more room in the shower.
Conference provided breakfast and lunch so can't comment on the restaurant
(Starbucks on the lower level). But you're right in the heart of downtown. I was
eating decent Indian food two blocks from the hotel at 11 PM; the hotel is
surrounded by restaurants.
Parking was expensive ($26/night) and I agree with another reviewer who
complained about having to pay $10/day for lobby wifi access (esp. considering
there's an internet cafe around the corner on Davie for $2/hour). All the staff
I interacted with (valet, reception, parking garage) were friendly. .

This was my second time staying at Sheraton Wall Center and it’s likely to be
last. While I remember enjoying my first stay about a year ago, the most recent
experience was a disappointing one.
I booked through the hotel web-site, requesting a king-size room on a higher
floor but was offered a double at check-in. They did find a king-size but on a
lower floor. During my two nights stay, I haven’t felt that “extra mile” service
that makes a hotel stay memorable. The service you receive is efficient but not
outstanding.
My corner room was very small. It did have a tiny kitchenette – a faucet, a
burner, a microwave, and a mini fridge. However, there were absolutely no dishes
or utensils. I was surprised to find no wine glasses or coffee mugs – small
touches that you expect from a “luxury hotel” as it labels itself. The bathroom
offered minimal toiletries – if you needed anything besides soap, shampoo, or
lotion you needed to request from the housekeeping.
Another disappointment was the lack of running water for several hours during my
second afternoon there – apparently due to maintenance that impacted several
floors. The hotel provided no advanced notice or apology. This was a Friday
afternoon and having to go to the lobby to use a washroom is an unfortunate
inconvenience when you just want to relax in your room after several days of
business meetings.
I travel to Vancouver very often and have stayed in a number of other downtown
hotels. There are definitely better options out there – both in terms of value
and quality.

I was here for a conference.
The Hotel has pretty good accommodation. I stayed in a room in the South tower
which was quite neat and tidy. There were two queen beds in a corner suite which
was pretty tight for space. The hotel is quite new and modern and had all the
mod cons you would expect for a Sheraton.
It's funny but they did not have wireless Internet and you had to lug a LAN
cable across the front door of the room to the desk. A bit of a worry but as
long as you didn't trip over it, it was OK.
Bathroom was as you would expect as well.
Facilities are good with a good Gym, Pool, Spa, Sauna and Steam room. The Pool
is only 20 metres so not really suitable for doing laps unless you want to get
dizzy (or are a slow swimmer).
The hotel is located a few blocks from Robson Rd which is the street to go
shopping. It is close to Cafe's and the Sears shopping centre as well.
Not a bad venue for a conference. Central and easy to access most parts of
downtown.

I had a lovely stay at the Sheraton Vancouver. The room are spacious and well
designed, they make me feel very relaxed and the beds are so comfortable. The
lobby is very nice too. Very luxurious - and i love how there is a starbucks
there! So convenient! The pool is very nice and refreshing, i just love it so
much. The Hotel Location of the hotel is good as well. All in all this hotel is very
friendly, convenient and absoloutely stunning and relaxing.

Stayed at this hotel for a conference. It's very modern and new-looking with
well decorated rooms like a boutique hotel. We had an incredible view of the
mountains from our room. The room itself was small, but we had a King room at
the end of the rounded hotel, so the "roundness" might have affected our
particular room. The hotel has plenty of underground parking with two elevator
rides up to your room. We enjoyed being within 2-3 blocks walking distance of
Davie and Robson Streets for lots of shopping and dining options. We also walked
8-9 blocks down Granville Street and took the water taxi over to Granville
Island for more shopping/dining options--a cool trip! We weren't very close to
Canada Place where all the cruise ships dock, but you can walk there too if you
don't mind 10-12 blocks in each direction. If you have a rental car, it's worth
driving out to the tip of the isthmus to see Stanly Park (Vancouver Aquarium is
nice) and crossing over the Lions Gate Bridge to see the Capilano Suspension
Bridge with its amazing Treetops Adventure attraction. Try to plan your trip so
you aren't crossing the Lions Gate Bridge at rush hour--backs up for MILES AND
MILES and will take an hour or so to get through the mess. We actually found
some nice restaurants over in North Vancouver along Marine Drive. If you are
traveling to Vancouver from the U.S., fly, do not drive across the border. We
spent at least 3-4 HOURS both driving into and leaving Canada at the border
crossing. It was ridiculous. Don't waste two days stuck in traffic as we did.
Also, the drive up to Whistler was very scenic, but road construction in
preparation for the Olympics was going on the entire length of this route. Not
very fun stopping every 5 miles for a flag man. Vancouver is very nice, I would
definitely go back and the Hotel Location of this hotel makes it a desirable place to
stay.

Nice modern hotel centrally located. We checked in a little early and were
offered our room straight away or a room on a higher floor if we waited. We
opted to wait and got a great room on the 32nd floor with lovely views over the
water and towards Stanley Park.
Whilst waiting we were disappointed that there was no bar open or comfortable
lounge area to wait in but we spoke to the concierge who pointed us in the right
direction for a drink.
The room was very clean and comfortable. |
