My husband and I, along with our two friends spent the night to
celebrate our anniversaries. This hotel feels like a luxury from the
moment you enter. The staff was attentive from the moment of our
arrival, so pleasant and personable. The room was chic and we mentally
noted how equipped it was if we ever needed a place to stay for business
purposes. A full desk was in each of our rooms with every kind of
electronic plug-in you could need. The bathrooms were lovely with a full
shower and a soaker tub. The bed was quite possibly the most comfortable
bed we had ever slept in – it felt like a cloud. We would absolutely
stay here again, and now I have a goal to travel to many of the Shang-ri
La locations around the world and see what the other locations are like!

Appreciated the privacy and the low intensity of the rooms. Very few
rooms and you rarely see or hear staff or other guests. Rooms are
perfect in Shangri-la style. had a great 4 days there in December 2011.

We stayed for five nights in August 2011.
We had a few niggles, but nothing severe enough to drop this review to a
4.
Service was outstanding. We had a problem with our initial room, and
were kindly moved to a one-bedroom suite with balcony, which inevitably
colours our review.
The room was genuinely a luxury experience - a step above similar
accommodation we have had in Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton properties in
the US.
The mis-steps were as follows:
The hotel had arranged a driver from YVR, who duly met our flight as
arranged, but had managed to lose his car keys. Fortunately he was still
able to get into and start the car, but any amusement faded when we
stopped not once but twice so he could tie down the trunk with his belt.
This added significantly to our journey time, not ideal coming in at
midnight from Las Vegas.
Market at Jean-Georges was hit and miss, or to be more precise as
breakfast was included in our rate: miss-hit-miss-miss (the fifth day we
had a dawn train to Seattle; the hotel kindly provided pastries and
fruit (which was then confiscated by Customs at the station)). As I
think someone else pointed out, a lot depends on your server - maybe we
were just unlucky 75% of the time. However, we experienced similar
service issues at several restaurants; maybe it's a Vancouver thing.
My final gripe is being charged $12 for an espresso by the pool. It was
from a automatic machine and not even any good.
Overall, however, an experience I would recommend, and would probably
stay here again if in Vancouver. The pool was a bonus (though not
exactly a sun-trap) and we used Chi Spa which was very relaxing.

We have travelled the world and our stays at the Shangri-La in Vancouver
rival any hotel in the world. we were fortunate enough to attend the
Canadian Tenors package at the hotel. It was a great experience. from
the minute you walk in to the time you leave, you are made to feel like
you are their most important guest! A truly wonderful experience that we
would recommend to anyone for the night away to that special date!

Firstly, we have stayed at the Shangri La a few times before and my
parents have too. Always been a great experience....
However, we booked our 'annual' night out in Vancouver this year. I'm
sure I chose a King online, but maybe I didn't. Anyway, realized and
phoned up to change. Said no problem, will get a confirmation email.
Worked away for a week, then remembered no email, called and we had been
wait-listed to a King, which was different to have previously been
advised. Ended up in a Twin, not the end of the world though and
possibly my mistake.
However, when checking in my wife overheard someone else being told all
the restaurants and bars were booked up for private function and NO
WHERE was available in this hotel to drink.
Phoned reception, this was confirmed, no Apology until we phoned back
and complained and then given different bars which they could book (we
later found out 2 of the 3 dont take bar bookings anyway).
Cut a long story short, they really didnt care that we wanted drinks in
this ($350) expensive hotel before we went out with a meal with friends,
so we changed Hotels.
Ended up a block or two away at a Hotel we've stayed at before 60% of
the drive, much bigger room and fantastic service who accommodated us at
short notice.
And with that, the Shangri-La has lost mine and my families business
(which was 4 different occasions in the past 12 months)

I have and do travel and have stayed in many hotels but this is the
first hotel that I can say I have enjoyed the most and there wasn't even
one problem. The rooms are beautiful, airy, comfortable and come with
everything you need. The beds and bedding are like sleeping in a cloud!!
The bathrooms are surrounded in a white marble giving a feeling of
spaciousness and relaxation. The staff are more than helpful to make
your stay easy and comfortable and the service is impeccable. We thought
we would be out dining on the Saturday night but decided to have room
service and the food was amazing! I must add that the restaurant,
bar/lounge are really good and the spa is fabulous as well. I left
feeling happy, content and relaxed.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

This is my favorite hotel in Vancouver !! The design is beautiful and
the rooms are fantastic.
The location is great. The service of the staff is unbeatable. Try the
market restaurant if you can. The spa is also wonderful-- the fees are
little high but it's worth it.
Highly recommended!

Stayed here for a fun weekend in Vancouver. The room was wonderful and
high tech. The service was also first rate. The Market restaurant was
definitely worth it. |
