I and a friend stayed at this hotel for the first 11 days of the 2010
Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. It is not possible to discuss value
and/or price, because these are always way different during the Olympics
in any city. However, what I anticipated to be a 3-1/2 to 4 star hotel
was surprisingly comfortable, with overall pleasant and excellent
service, and all that during the most frenetic time any city is likely
to see. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned and
straightened at least twice a day, and if we happened to be in the room,
housekeeping made it a point to return later. The room was satisfactory
for its purpose. In what was supposed to be a twin bedded room, the beds
were actually larger doubles, making sleeping that much easier. Although
the bathroom was small, it was evident that it had recently been
refurbished. The furnishings were new, but fairly plain. We heard no
noise from next door, or the hallway, and often slept with the window
open to cool off the room (it was overall quite warm in Vancouver, and
Canadians seem to crank the heat up more than we do at home). The hotel
restaurant was surprisingly good, with an excellent buffet breakfast and
a couple of dinners that were, once again, surprisingly good with fine
service. I read many posts on Trip Advisor with respect to this hotel,
and not all were positive, so I was somewhat concerned about our stay.
But all in all, it turned out to be quite pleasant and satisfactory
during what must be the busiest time ever for any hotel.

My friend and I were so excited to be in Vancouver.. we thought the
staff of the hotel will be very accommodating. when we got to the
reception/information the lady was not very accommodating. she wasn’t
really paying attention to us but eventually she asked if we need help
and we said we have a reservation here and i told her my name. she then
asked for my credit card (she wasn’t very warm at all) we felt like we
are not welcome. she looked up at the computer and asked if we want to
be in the harbour side i mean upgrade to the harbour side instead of the
city side. we said no thank you and she just gave our room number and
card. she didn't even tell us where is the elevator or anything, no more
words after that. we were disappointed because my friend and I travel
alot but we never experience this. we just wanted to try this hotel
because we thought its going to be an exciting experience. but the lady
wasn’t really nice and accommodating. but the day that we are supposed
to leave the guy in the reception area was very nice he gave us few
hours of extensions to stay. he was nice and happy. we felt ease talking
with him... he made the few hours of our stay pleasant. btw, people at
the entrance of the hotel doesn’t know how to greet their guests.. we
felt invisible...
You should see the Park and the harbour side.. its very relaxing to
walk... be sure to wear ur flats though...

Best service I’ve ever had anywhere!
I’ll keep it short, the hotel is beautiful, lobby bar & restaurant have
amazing harbour views, bed is super comfy, but what really made the trip
for our group of 4 were James & Jeff, the bartenders at the lobby bar.
These 2 guys go way above and beyond the call of duty, I felt like a
rock star the way they treated us, if you need anything while in
Vancouver these guys will make sure you get it, top notch, the 2 best
bartenders I’ve ever had, anywhere! We’ll return to this hotel
exclusively because of these 2 guys, thanks for aan amazing stay!
Marcello’s Deli is 1 block away, all home cooked food, real turkey, real
everything, excellent sandwiches for under $5. Also, the $6 chicken
wings at the hotel lobby restaurant/bar are the best.

Upon our arrival we found that the Front desk has an outstanding service. the
underground parking is 50 yards prior to the hotel lobby. All surrounding areas
are very sharp and clean. The room is a little small being a American based
hotel. The room offered a 32" Flat LCD screen and the beds and pillows are very
soft. The Hotel location is very good since you have restaurants, convenience
stores and the City Train or Subway just 3 blocks away. There is a mall that has
most US Stores and other locally and international. The Vancouver Airport is
around 30 minutes away and a Cab if you decide or will not have a rental car
will cost around $30.00 CAN dollars. The Train is currently 3.75 per person.

Stayed at the Renaissance Harbourside for three nights.
I had a 15th-floor room with one king bed. Room had lots of space, with a couch
and plenty of storage. Great showerhead. Had buffet breakfast. Eggs benedict
were delicious, along with waffles and french toast. Service was excellent, and
housekeeping was very efficient.
Only bad note goes to the fire alarm with went off two nights in a row, making
the elevators work on and off.

The room was very nicely appointed. The King bed and eight pillows were very
comfortable. The large LCD TV was nice to watch. But by far the best part of the
room was the harbour view. By all means, if you stay here, get a room 11th floor
or higher with a harbour view. The balcony with glass exterior was roomy enough
to sit on and enjoy the evening. A lounge and restaurant on the lobby floor
serve food and drinks, however all I tried there were the drinks and some bar
food. All of it good if just a tiny bit on the pricey side. All of the staff
took genuine interest in helping.

We stayed here over American Thanksgiving after getting an excellent price on a
room. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and useful, recommending a
great Sushi place in the neighborhood. The rooms were clean and the fitness
center/pool area was quite nice.
The only downside of this hotel was the aggressive cleaning staff. They started
coming by around 8am, and either knocked on the door, or in a couple of cases
just walked right in while we were in the room. Nothing that the door lock and
Do Not Disturb sign couldn't fix, but slightly annoying none the less. Parking
cost about $23CAD/day if I recall correctly, and the lot itself seemed a bit
dodgy, but we didn't have any security issues.

Overall I was quite impressed with this hotel, especially for the incredible
rate. In my opinion, this is a flat 4 star hotel. It's funny, when I read these
reviews before staying in a hotel, I find I'm looking for things. There were a
few things I did notice that could have been better, but they would not impact
my choice to stay at the hotel again. For example, yes, the windows, doors, and
walls seem thin, in other words you can hear sounds from the hall, and the
street. Internet is not free, yes, you have to pay, oh well, I paid less than
half the rack rate for the room. The parking, it is NOT hard to self park, why
not save the $6.00 per night and self park it. The lot is next to the elevator,
very easy and worth the savings. I was over charged for internet, but they fixed
it right away, not sure what happened there. Ok, one thing that I did find
strange. The maid, came in my room with a very quick knock at 4pm on two
consecutive days. The second time she just looked at me and said, is everything
ok.... umm ya, why are you in here. I probably should have reported this, but I
tend to look for the good in people, hopefully it was a mistake. The room was
already clean by the way.
Anyway. Great deals i n the restaurant, clean, attractive looking lobby, great
beds, great location... come on people, walk two blocks and you're in the hear
of it. And you get the waterfront as well. Location is perfect. I would stay at
this place again, but would liekly look elsewhere if I had the pay $200 plus a
night.

I booked this hotel for $64 a night. What a great deal! The hotel appears to be
recently renovated and everything worked out well. I saw that some people were
complaining about the cost of parking or the internet, but if they had a clue
about anything, they would know that all of the comparable hotels in Vancouver
charge the same prices. (Hyatt, Delta, Marriott, Sheraton) and I have stayed at
all of them. This hotel is right there in the same class.
My complaint would be that the hot tub is tiny, there was a family in there so
we went back to our room watched a movie instead. The gym was big though.
Also there was an alarm that went off in one of the rooms for 45mins, we called
down and someone came up to switch it off within 5minutes.

We stayed at this hotel for a conference. We had a Harbourside room, and the
view was breathtaking. The room is very clean, comfortable and modern. The
fitness facilities are great too, very well equipped, and little touches like
fresh fruit in the fitness center are the kind of attention to detail that make
a hotel stand out.
