I only spent a night in the Pan Pacific at the end of the Olympics and
didn't really get to try out many of the facilities. Check-in was
painless and even though the hotel was totally full (this was February
28th, last day of the Winter Games), I didn't hear a squeak from anyone.
The walls are nice and thick and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom
looked a little tired and the bath was tiny, but apart from that, I had
no complaints. I'd like to come back and spend more time here. The
location is on the waterfront almost in the heart of the city.

Very nice rooms, and service.
Breakfast was cooked your way and with plenty of fruit and juice.
Good friendly people and beautiful city and dock areas.

stayed here one night but the harbour and mountain view was glorious.
Very comfortable , quiet rooms. ( in contrast to some of the public
areas ). Excellent service and as we were leaving on a cruise it offered
the added luxury of taking your bags directly to the cruise ship. No
hassle, no stress. Great. However not sure how it would have fared for a
longer stay as restaurants etc extremely busy preparing visitors for
loading on to cruise shios.

Unbelievable, wonderful views from rooms. The large umbrella things, you
see at the cruse ship terminal, were in the center of the view from my
window. The float planes were taking off and landing on our side of the
harbor, and there was a backdrop of snow caped mountains in the
background. No way to top it.

I was checked in to this hotel for a night for business and have to say
wasn't terribly impressed. I stayed at the Seattle one last summer and
that was nice and new and fun, but this one is need of an update. Your
boring, typical business hotel.
Breakfast room service was OK. Didn't have a chance to do any fitness
center, or any other things.
I was, however, very impressed by this small shop near the meeting space
that does printing, copying, business services type. I was in desperate
need for good, color copies, and not only did they do a great job in a
less than 10 minutes, they charged it to my room!
Dinner was good in the lobby lounge late at night, overlooking the
water. I can't even remember what I ate, but I do recall liking it and
being more impressed than what one would assume in a hotel lobby lounge.
Next time I'm trying the Fairmont across the street, although I hear the
Fairmont at the airport is a great option and not even close to your
typical airport hotel.

Awesome hotel, beautiful view of the harbour, North Van and Stanley
Park. Absolutely great hotel to stay, especially if going on a cruise
ship. Only complaint was Trevor in the hotel bar, hope he got the
message after our 5c tip!!!! Overall great place, and great location we
were able to walk everywhere!

We stayed at the Pan Pacific at the start of our honeymoon and to
explore Vancouver for 3 days before heading to Banff for skiing. We
arrived about 10 days before the Winter Olympics where the Pan Pacific
was being set up as the Media Centre but this didn't detract from the
service provided by the hotel - just created a more interesting hustle
and bustle!!
Once you get to the Reception level check in is friendly and quick and
the Bell service was very efficient. Rooms are very clean, spacious with
brilliany views (we were upgraded to harbour view which was awesome!)
with good facilities ie flat screen tv/ tea/ coffee (albeit the wine
provided on the hospitality tray was very over-priced so buy in!). The
outside pool on the 8th floor looked great (although weather was not on
our side to use it!) and we would be happy to recommend this hotel as a
very comfortable base to explore Vancouver.

We spent one night at the PP prior to taking an Alaskan cruise.
We picked the hotel purely based on location, as it is part of the same
construction complex that includes the passenger cruise terminal. It was
possible to take the lift from the hotel straight to the cruise terminal
access area. Very handy.
We were not really looking for anything other than a place to work off a
night's jetlag, but the hotel proved to be very nice. The location,
obviously was spot on, and the staff were helpful and polite. The room
that we had booked was very spacious, more like a mini-suite and was
very well laid out. We didn't have time to try out the other facilities
on offer (other than the swimming pool, which was a tad on the small
side).
If you don't fancy using the (slightly pricey) restaurant in the hotel,
there is a food court over the road in the basement of the Fairmont
building. Ideal for that 05:30 breakfast that is so essential when
jetlagged!

This downtown waterfront hotel features 503 rooms and is part of the Asian Pan
Pacific hotel chain. After a long day of watching sporting events relax in the
12,000 square foot Utopia spa and salon—after all, bleacher seats aren’t the
most comfortable. Three in-house restaurants and lounges offer
Eastern-influenced cuisine. Or head out to the nearby shopping and entertainment
districts. Plus, the hotel sits adjacent to seaplane and helijet terminals for
those who plan to jet to the events at Whistler in the mountains of British
Columbia.

Parking is $30/day with no in/out privileges. Internet is $15 a day, but is
fast.
We arrived late at night and were confused about how to even get to the front
desk, as it is a massive hotel and there are some elevators that become locked
off at midnight and the front desk is on the second floor. Every day/night you
saw people wandering a bit confused by the elevators. However, the front desk
was very friendly (when we did find them) and they gave us an upgrade (but
didn't mention it so it was a great surprise!)
The view from our room was breathtaking! We went to sleep with the curtains open
so we could wake up and again be swept away. We didn't hear any seaplanes but we
could frequently hear people in the hallway. The room was well furnished and the
bed was comfortable.
The bathroom had a great showerhead, Aveda products, plus a blow dryer, built in
maginifying mirror, and a shower cap and shoe mitt. However... I don't think our
bathroom was cleaned before we came. While we had clean towels, I did notice
hair on the bathroom floor that wasn't ours, dust in the corners, dried water
droplets on the mirror, and pink toothpaste on the counter. Pink toothpaste.
Kind of hard to miss if you're cleaning.
While the front desk was polite, I felt like we were treated poorly by other
staff. I literally got yelled at by a housekeeper while I was in the hallway,
accusing me in broken english of not being a guest. Also, while some of the
concierge were nice, I felt they were not very helpful and at least one seemed
to flat out not know the city or what it had to offer in terms of restaurants,
attractions, etc. There was a sort of "looking down on" attitude from the
concierge and other staff that I think we recieved because we are young. It
ruined the experience a little. However, room service was prompt and very
polite.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel simply for the stunning views. (The pool
is nice and has great views as well.) The floor to ceiling windows allow you to
look out but no one can see in (unless you have your light on.) It's not a 5
star, but man, those views are awesome! (We had room 1212.)
Side note: It's within walking distance to the aquarium and Stanley Park, but it
is somewhat of a long walk. The hotel also has a restaurant that seemed mediocre
and overpriced, a spa, a sauna and some shops. It's a massive place.

We went to Vancouver B.C. for Christmas 2009, and I got a great rate for this
hotel on Hotwire (as most of you did!). This hotel cannot be beaten for the
location. Exquisite views of the harbour, snow-capped peaks, city lights and
situated next to Robson street. I was prepared for the parking charge of $30 per
day as Vancouver is an expensive city to park in. What annoyed me was the
internet access charge of $20 for 24 hrs! Come on guys, we spent enough on
breakfast and parking, why not give free internet access like most hotels? The
room decor was adequate - circa 1980 feel and the bathrooms are extremely basic
and need updating. But we got the best views and location in Vancouver so
overall I was happy. This is a huge convention centre hotel, so don't expect
anything intimate and personal. We spent most of our time outside the hotel,
visiting Stanley Park's Christmas lights (stunning!) and the aquarium which was
world class. Good value for this hotel if you book though Hotwire, but I
wouldn't call this hotel 5 star. It's a 4 star at best.

When we stayed, the main reception area of the hotel was being refurbished which
meant it was a bit of a mess. The hotel was also totally full due to local
events.
The check in staff were very helpful and it didn't take too long before we were
in our room.
it is a big big big hotel but perfectly situated for the cruise lines. We were
on an NCL cruise and all we had to do was call the bell boys and they came up
within 5 mins(at 11.45, 15 mins before check out) to get our bags and even put
the labels on for us. We next saw our bags outside our room on the boat about 4
pm. We tipped 10 dollars but thought this a bargain and meant we only had to
carry our carry on bags and could spend 3 hrs more in Vancouver. I can recommend
the IMAX theatre which is in the same building.
Whilst staying at the hotel in August or July check if the 'Celebration of light
fireworks show is on in Vancouver. There are 4 heats each year for the world
fireworks championship. it is about a 30 min walk from the hotel in English bay
and attracts around 200,000 people. I have never seen a place so busy but it was
well worth it. about a 25 min firework display on a barge on the water. get
there at least an hr early if you want any chance of a seat on the floor. be
prepared to stand. It is AMAZING!
The rooms were excellent. There was a nice big bed with beautiful views over the
harbour and mountains (floor to ceiling windows) there is also a neat toilet
door that closed off the bathroom in one position and the toilet in another.
WI-FI is not free and costs $14.95 per day!!
There was a massive 50 inch plasma in our room which provided the usual crap
American channels.
It was an easy walking distance to Robson street where all the shopping is and
then onto china town.
Overall a really nice hotel and the aircon was appreciated when it was 33C
outside!!

Perfect location...perfect rooms. But what really makes a hotel stand out is the
service, right? Could NOT have been better. Friendly, helpful, outstanding. From
the valet to the concierge, truly first class. Beds and linens were soft and
comfy, house cleaning staff was A+. Laundry was turned around in 2 hours.
Excellent advice from every employee as to where to go/what to do.

We were convinced to try out the Pan Pacific by taking advantage of a recent
TravelZoo offer with very reasonable rates. My husband had stayed there when it
was newer and recommended it as being alright. We booked our room Nov 4th, for
Dec 9/10. So plenty of advance time. We got to the hotel and were advised upon
check in that they did not have our room available. This was at 5:00pm so not
exactly late. We were told we would need to upgrade to another room for an extra
$60 a night. Sort of defeated the TravelZoo promo. The front desk clerk was
unhelpful and we were told the booking was non refundable and in no way were we
guaranteed to get the room we booked, since it was booked at a sale price. Would
have been nice to know that when we booked. We got the impression we were a bit
second class since we didn't pay full price. The room and facility itself was
alright, nothing too extraordinary. Worth noting if you need internet access its
an extra 15.95 for 24 hrs, parking is also an extra $30 overnight. .Local calls
from your room also cost. We ended up with $200 in surcharges over 2 nights ,
and no, we didn't hit room service or the mini bar :) I realize I sound like the
money was an issue, not so, it just drives me crazy when places charge a premium
for basic services, like its something exclusive to make a call or use the
internet. rather than just charging a higher room rate and including the basics
you'd expect. Nice views though and a good location for some business we had
downtown. I did email the customer service rep regarding their booking policy,
and our disappointment on not receiving the room we booked or any advance notice
there might be an issue . That was on the first night of our stay. I was hoping
it was just an oversight by the front desk, but I have not recieved any
response, confirming our feeling our business wasn't valued.
We frequently stay at the Fairmont Airport or Hotel Vancouver when in town and
will likely return there as the rooms are nicer and we've never run into any
issues there.

We stayed here Oct and thought the location of this hotel is what sets it apart
from other hotels in downtown Vancouver.
LOCATION: Downtown Vancouver, over looking the harbour & Stanley Park. Easy
access to the "Canada Line" and transit, Gastown, Stanley Park and Robson
Street. There are beautiful walkways along the harbour with places to stop for
coffee, lunch, a drink or simply to sit on a bench & enjoy the view. It's
attached to the Convention Centre and cruise ship dock as well. About 25 minutes
via taxi from the airport or you can take the Canada Line train. You enter the
hotel on street level but take either the escalator or elevator up 2 floors to
the check in area.
ROOM: We asked for one with a view of Stanley Park and the harbour-we weren't
disappointed. The room itself was slightly dated with older carpeting and the
shower/tub should be updated. The king size bed was very comfortable and had
crisp, clean linens. There was a nice lounge chair that faced the large windows
overlooking the harbour. Also handy to have an in room safe, umbrella, fully
stocked mini bar with snacks and a 40 inch HD flat screen television with all
the channels & movies you could want. Very good toiletries were provided and
there is a handy make up mirror as well. Note that when you check in they offer
you a "complimentary newspaper", which is the Globe & Mail. When you look at the
holder for your room keys, it actually says if you decline the newspaper, the
cost per day will be deducted from your bill. You also receive an actual key
instead of card access. Therefore, anyone can access the room floors via the
elevators and I did notice signs posted saying "no view" at the elevator area.
DINING: For breakfast we simply walked over to the food court (connected to the
hotel underground) which has a vast array of dining options (including Tim
Horton's for coffee). There is a restaurant open for breakfast in the hotel if
you prefer or order room service. We chose to eat dinner away from the hotel as
well, but there is a beautiful dining option at Sails. In the lounge we sat and
enjoyed coffee & drinks while listening to the entertainment of piano and
singing. It was fabulous, with large windows overlooking the habour lit up at
night.
FITNESS/SPA: We finally located the fitness centre, which is in the parkade. The
equipment was newer and the facility wasn't busy when we checked it out (your
room key is required to enter). The spa was fantastic and very busy. They offer
every service imaginable-we had a couples massage & were given 10% off with our
stay. We also enjoyed the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi. There is an area with
fresh towels to use and tables & chairs around the pool....again, great views.
SERVICE/SHOPS: Checking in and out was a breeze. We found the front desk staff
helpful in providing maps and ideas of where to eat outside of the hotel. Our
room was cleaned to our satisfaction. Service in the lounge was attentive and
prompt. There are several shops for gifts and necessities as well.
Overall we were very pleased with the Pan Pacific Hotel and would definitely
stay here again.

Good & helpful welcomes from this 500+ room hotel next to convention centre.
Good location as wonderful views if high enough, but a little out of downtown
for walking/shopping.
Room excellent. Buffet breakfast included in rate excellent. Nice lunch in
lounge overlooking harbour, but not cheap!
National car rental in foyer/garage!
Against:
NO free Wi-FI (remarkable for a business hotel!
Parking very expensive $30+ overnight
