These Vancouver Hotel reviews are the subjective opinion of a Guest and not of Allure

on-line or on the phone. Jun 23, 2008
Definitely not as good as the Pan Pacific in Seattle, but it seems that all of
these Pan Pacific Hotels are simply great. Front desk was accomodating and the
room clean. There were big windows allowing us to have a beautiful view of
downtown Vancouver on the 21st floor. The shower drained well, and the bed
covers were delightfully soft. The room service food was not that great, and
took longer than stated. About the same price as the Sutton Hotel, but much
better.

Stayed here June 2008. It is right on the water walking distance to everything
dowtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. We had a harbour view...spectacular! The
windows are large so you can watch the beautiful sights on the water. The rooms
are bigger than most and immaculate. It is a very busy hotel, with lots of
convention rooms and sits at the port for cruise ships. Restaurants and lounges
are nice with large windows that look out on the water. Staff was very helpful
and friendly. The outdoor jacuzzi and pool are nice, but the best part is the
huge area adjacent to the pool with lounge chairs where you can sit and relax
without being splashed. If you walk on the seawall towards Stanley Park you will
pass a pub called The Mill Marine Bistro. It has excellent food and service and
is just above a water park where the kids can play on a hot day and parents can
enjoy a refreshing drink and keep an eye on them. The negatives for us at this
hotel is the lack of wall-plugins (had to iron my clothes in the bathroom), the
parking was expensive, and not secure (it's a public parkade) and the harbour
planes start at 7 a.m. so if you have a harbour side room and you are a light
sleeper be prepared to be awakened. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely
return.

Our experience with this hotel was excellent. Our room was immaculate with
panoramic views of the bay and surrounding mountains. The staff and service was
great.

I stayed at the PP for three nights on a business trip. I have nothing but
positive things to say about this hotel. The first and most important being the
size of the rooms. Almost 50% larger than most rooms I have stayed in. Service
was excellent and the views of the harbour from the Atrium were stunning. I had
a city view room and can only imagine how much better my stay would have been if
I had a harbour view. It was also an easy 5-10 minute walk to the restaurants of
Gastown.
Highly recommended.

My husband and I had booked to visit Vancouver, and finally decided that we
would stay the first couple of nights at the Pan Pacific and then move on to a
small boutique hotel downtown called The Wedgewood.
The Pan Pacific is located right on Vancouver harbour, and is basically on top
of the cruise ship terminal. It is a very big and impersonal hotel, but if you
are an independant traveller and are happy to be left alone and blend into the
background like we are, then this is a great hotel. It does get busy at times,
especially when there is a cruise coming or going, but it isn't really a problem
because of the size of the hotel.
One thing I would recommend to anyone planning to stay there is do book a room
with a view of the harbour and Stanley Park. It is better than any TV. We sat
for ages watching what was going on, without realising how the time was passing.
You have the ships coming and going, the seaplanes taking off and landing as
well as the wonderful views of the park. The room was smaller than we have
experienced at other hotels, but it was very clean and the bed was very
comfortable, but those views certainly made up for it.
We found the food to be very good, and as always in Canada, excellent value. We
didn't bother with the fine dining restaurant as the bar or restaurant where you
have breakfast (I can't remember its name) were both good. We booked a B & B
package direct with the hotel, and this is a good idea, as you just hand over
the little vouchers you receive on check in, to the restaurant host/hostess as
you enter, and you can have as much as you want from the very good buffet, or
you can pay a bit more and choose from the menu, but to be honest, alot of the
food on the menu is in the buffet anyway, you just pay to have it delivered to
your table.
As I said at the beginning of this review, we had booked the first couple of
nights of our stay at the Pan Pacific, and then we were moving on to the
Wedgewood. Well, we did move on to the Wedgewood, and two nights later we came
back to the Pan Pacific for the rest of our holiday. The Wedgewood is not a
hotel I would recemmend to anyone. It is not in a very nice area to be in at
night for one thing, and you can't get into the bar because of locals flocking
in there after work. The food is also over priced and over rated. They think
they are something special, but they're not!
Anyway, I doubt I will return to Vancouver in the near future, as we had 11 days
there, and thats quite a long time to spend in one city. However, if I do go
back, I would have no hesitation in booking the Pan Pacific again. It is in a
good Hotel Location, and you can walk along the waterfront, all the way to Stanley
Park. It is also ideally located for the downtown shops.
I love Canada, and have been lucky enough to have a number of holidays there in
various Hotel Locations, and this hotel was definately one of the best if not THE best
I have stayed in during my visits.

Basically a very good hotel having excellent rooms that have lots of nice
touches, but it is let down by the somewhat sterile atmosphere of its public
areas. The hotel sits over an Exhibition and Conference Centre with access by
escalators, or elevators, from a common entrance. It is in an excellent Hotel Location
and has great views over either the harbour to the mountains of the North Shore
or the bustling Downtown area of the city. The eating area that serves breakfast
and lunch is fine but it is not open of an evening leaving only the lounge area
(crowded when Conferences and Exhibitions are on) and a very expensive
restaurant to eat at. However ,it is only a few min. walk from Vancouver's
downtown area so many guests seem to eat-out, as I did.

The hotel has a wonderful Hotel Location, right on the harbor and you are steps away
from where the cruise ships depart.
The hotel is very popular with cruise passengers and groups. It's downstairs
area shares it's space with the cruise port and convention center. The lobby is
a few floors up. The lobby is always busy.
The staff at times seems worn thin with so many people. We found some staff to
be helpful and pleasant and other's who were just over all the crowds and
people.
The lobby is stunning and the large glass windows offer a breathtaking view of
Vancouver harbor, the ships and the mountains.
We had a deluxe mini suite, but the first room given was small, sparse and had a
view of an industrial area. We asked to change rooms and the desk clerk was nice
and helpful. He gave us a much larger room with a nice harbor view. Sometimes
you just have to ask for what you want!
I liked elements of this hotel, but the crowds and popularity of the hotel took
away from it's beauty. It is hard to get a cab here, you have to wait in lines
for the breakfast and often it's hard to get up to the front desk just to ask a
simple question. A lot of cruise passengers and tourists who are not staying
here, use the lobby as ground zero.
The rooms were okay, but not great. I would rate them average. If you can get a
view do so, it makes the room. One side of the hotel has city views and another
has awful industrial views, two sides of the hotel give you wonderful water and
mountain views. You have to ask if you want a room with a view!
The rates are expensive and I thought it was pricey for what you actually got
for your dollar. The best part about this hotel is that you can check-in for
your cruise inside the hotel. It's very easy and I would strongly suggest this
hotel for anyone leaving on a cruise!

We have just returned from a two day trip at the Pan Pacific Vancouver. The
hotel is beautifully located on the water and conveniently close to downtown.
The service from the hotel reservation desk and concierge was average. The house
keeping service was the best we have ever experienced. It was so lovely that we
spent New Years Eve night in our hotel room, overlooking the pool area, city,
mountains, and ocean.
We stayed on the 15th floor with a Mountain/Harbor view. We went to downtown for
all of our meals.
We paid $219 per night for a room with a Mountain/Harbor view and a King sized
bed. It was perfect for a romantic getaway for a couple of 23 year-olds. The
room was definitely nice and comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. A
scale was included under the sink, which you don't see too often.
