We loved everything about this hotel except the yellow paint colour in our room. Other than that the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We were upgraded to make sure we we were in a quiet room as we requested when we booked. There were real rock stars eating breakfast at the same time as us. The shopping and restaurants right outside the door are great. The gym is bijoux but clean and has a good outlook onto a corner where you can watch all the groovy locals go by. Most importantly the staff were friendly and helpful in everyway possible.

I booked this hotel through Hotwire. When you book through Hotwire the way I did, you don't know the name of the hotel until AFTER you've paid for it!!! But I was willing to run that risk, because I could just not make my mind up with what hotel to pick downtown! I was concerned with some of the reviews/remarks that I read about the construction going on on Davie Street where the hotel is located, but, believe me, I am a light sleeper, and it was fine! I had a room that faced the street perpendicular to Davie. DON'T stay at a Holiday Inn, Westin, etc. Stay here-you can stay at a Holiday Inn, etc anytime!!! I was a flight attendant for 6 years, and am more than qualified to recommend hotels-trust me, you will not be disappointed! Nice L'Occitane (sp.?) toiletries, heated floor in the bathrooms!, free bottled water (2 a day!), free use of internet computer in the business center, no ice per se, but they provide you with a full bucket of ice as part of their turn-down service! A lot of nice little touches that make a difference, and that you wouldn't see too many other places! And the bus/public transportation is very easy-correct change only when you get on the buses, but your bus ticket has an expiration time, so it's good until that time. And if you miss a bus, they're quite frequent-usually every 15 min. or so, so even though the Opus is not on Robson, don't be discouraged about public transport-between customer service at Translink, and the staff at Opus, it's quite easy to get around!

Despite the unavoidable construction around the hotel at this time, our stay was without problems or complaints. The service provided by the hotel staff is unrivalled. They accommodate all your requests with warmth and generosity. This hotel clearly realizes that service is still the most important factor, and it's refreshing to see such care and attention paid to guests' needs.

The room, while small, is comfortable with all conveniences. I never slept better than the nights I stayed here. The sheets and pillows are magic. The hallways were always very quiet--something that I am very sensitive to at other hotels--and I think the design / construction of the hotel must have taken sound-proofing into account, because I never heard other guests anywhere on the floor.

We found good rates online with Orbitz, but I was hesitant to book with this online service. Opus matched Orbitz's rate without any question.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Stayed at the Opus Hotel for 4 nights recently. We got upgraded from a standard Queen room to a King room which was nice. The room was spacious, loved the decor, bed was comfortable, pillows could have been better. They change the sheets every day unless you place a card on the bed to notify that the sheets don't need to be changed. Bathroom was awesome, loved the shower and the L'Occitane toiletries. Complimentary water every day was great.

We were only on the second floor of the hotel and the construction of the Canada Line was right out front, however we didn't really notice the noise too much and didn't need the earplugs! However on our last night which was a Thursday night there was a DJ in the bar area downstairs and this did keep me awake until after 2am, so if you are staying over a weekend I would suggest a higher room in the hotel to avoid the loud base music thumping.

The service we received was fantastic. We utilised the complimentary hotel bicycles for a lovely morning cycle around the seawall and Stanley Park. I would recommend this. It was very easy to get from the hotel to the cycle path. The Hotel Location of the hotel is great. Loved Yaletown and the boutique shops and so many restaurant choices all within a few minutes walk. We didn't pay for the internet in our room but just chose to use the internet in the Business Center which was free, if we needed to check anything online. Used the gym as well which was adequate for our needs. Fresh apples here as well, very nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would choose to stay here again.

Staying at the Opus is a great way to pamper yourself for the weekend. The rooms have a warm and romantic decor, and the Hotel Location is perfect (great little neighbourhood to explore). The staff are very helpful and professional and the lounge downstairs is a great place to have a drink (the martinis are fantastic). My husband and I visit the Opus every year for a romantic getaway, and we have yet to be anything but thoroughly impressed with absolutely everything about this hotel.

Mar 3, 2008
My wife and I spent a weekend getaway at the Opus with our two small doggies (a miniature Schnauzer and a small terrier mutt). We had stayed there once about 3 years ago and still remembered it fondly... we'd been looking forward to this visit for several weeks.

The Opus didn't dissapoint. It's an exteremly stylish boutique hotel in one of the most fun parts of Vancouver. We felt like rockstars the entire weekend. It's practically next door to some of the best restaurants in town and also quite close to several parks along False Creek.

Other things:

The Olympics:
Vancouver is scrambling to get ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics. A new Canada Line transit station is being built right next to the Opus. This will be extremely convenient once completed, but it's a bit inconvenient for now... Davies street is cut off just past the Opus and you have to walk through scafolding to get to the Roundhouse area. Didn't notice any construction noise however, probably because it's mostly underground.

Neighborhood:
We love Yaletown! A super trendy neighborhood with great restaurants and cafe's. Often, hip neighborhoods like this in metro areas can be equally snooty and uninviting, but we found Yaletown to still have enough grungieness to make us feel welcome.

Internet:
So here's one knock against the Opus. For a hotel in this category, I think it's really unacceptable to charge for Internet access. They charge a little over $15 CND per day for wireless. That's just stupid... it should be free. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any open wireless connections to get around the charge, so I just accepted it. Sigh.

Travelling with pets:
Opus is *extremely* accomodating to guests with pets. We've been there twice now with our two doggies and we've been treated very well both times. One note: Their official policy is that you're not to leave your doggies in your room without you, but they'll look the other way as long as they are well mannered. Also, the Opus is about 2 blocks away from some very nice waterfront parks. The nearby David Lam park was stocked with doggie bags during our visit. This became our morning and evening routine with our pooches.

Ice:
There are no ice machines in the Opus. However, you can call Hotel Services and they will bring ice to you. That wound up becoming a little annoying on our second day there when we arrived back to the hotel after a long walk and had to wait 15 minutes for them to bring up ice to us. Of course that's also another opportunity for you to tip their staff. A small annoyance.

For the last 3 years, I've spent more time in hotel rooms than I have in my own bed. That being said, no other hotel I've visited during my recent travels has impressed me more than Opus in Vancouver.
Whether traveling for business or pleasure, the comforts and ambiance of Opus are not only appealing, they're incredibly welcoming...in a uniquely urban-chic package! The staff was wonderful, everybody had a smile on their face and seemed genuinely happy to part of Opus...it made a difference.

Hotel Location:
The hotel is located in Yaletown, a hot-spot for fine dining, hip bars, and Vancouver's "see and be seen" epicenter. Opus is right in the heart of the scene, and when the sun goes down, Opus' bar and restaurant (Opus Bar, Elixir) become what appeared to be the best place in Vancouver to be.
Lots of great shops, restaurants, and services surrounding the hotel. Close to most everything you'd want to get to in Vancouver, for business or pleasure.

ROOM:
- Very comfortable bedding/down comforters
- Stereo system, including CDs!!! (my room had Lenny Kravitz, U2, and an couple of compilation disks...great!!)
- Flat screen tv
- Lounge Chair/quasi sofa
- Desk
- Beautiful bathroom
- Great reading material (city guide, luxury travel magazines, pop-culture books...great!!!)
- Chocolate wafers provided with turndown service

BUSINESS CENTER & WORKOUT ROOM:
After getting comfortable in my room, I decided to send a couple of emails and go workout. The business center has a couple of computers, a printer, and even an airline check-in kiosk. Use of the computers and wireless in the business center were complimentary. Nice room, lots of space.
After the work emails were sent, I went across the hall and used the workout facility. Treadmill, free weights, and a great view of Yaletown. Small room, but it had everything you really need. For those who enjoy a good run, the area is GREAT for that.

RESTAURANT/BAR:
I didn't have a chance to eat at Elixir, but I had a couple of drinks in the Opus Bar on a busy Friday night. There was a live DJ, yes...a live DJ. The scene was a mix of 25-40 somethings, dancing, chatting, and having fun. I'm typically not one for this type of setting, but I had a great time and really enjoyed myself...

NET-NET:
- GREAT HOTEL/ROOMS
- GREAT STAFF (amazing!)
- DETAILS....DETAILS...DETAILS...Opus has hit a homerun with regards to paying attention to the big and small details
- I Can't say enough...great place!

Have stayed at the Opus previously and really enjoyed our stay which is why we decided to return again this time in Vancouver. The only complaint I have, is that the room was above the bar area, which, on a Friday night became quite boisterous and loud as the night wore on. Other than that, love the funkiness of the hotel (including the bar) and the great Yaletown Hotel Location.

Feb 2, 2008

We arrived at the Opus on Christmas eve. Not surprisingly, the hotel was pretty empty. This worked in our favor as we were instantly upgraded to a studio suite. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable - even to the point of making calls to and compiling a list of restaurants around town that were open on Christmas day (not much was). They all seemed to know the area well and gave us lots of valuable advice. The hotel bar and restaurant (Elixir) were both fantastic. Not only the food and drinks, but the decor. Modern, yet still pretty comfortable. I had heard that the Opus was the best hotel in Vancouver. Now I know why.

Feb 2, 2008

I spent a night at the Opus recently and was looking forward to it as I have had several friends and collegues recommend it. My expectations were high and I was not disappointed. As a business traveller I see my fair share of hotels and after a while, even the best ones seem homogenized. So it was to my great delight that I found the Opus Hotel to be a unique and funky property with amazing service. It's hip decor seems to transcend time. At one moment you're in the lobby at the post modern check-in desk, and then just a few minutes later, enjoying drinks and dinner in a wonderful French style bistro. The rooms are just as cool, decorated in vibrant colors (mine was chartruese!), and filled with tiny ammentities that make the most jaded traveller sit up and take notice. I personally enjoyed the latest cultural magazines (not the usual "Guides and activity brochures" here!), and the relaxing CD's included in the room that turned me on to some new artists. As for the service, it was attentive, professional and not the least bit "put on". I had some great chats with some of the staff that made me feel like I was hanging out with new friends, not the hired help. I can probably best sum up the visit with a quote I found in the hotel from another guest. To paraphrase, "I felt like my cool friend had just gone away for the weekend and left me the keys to his funky pad in the heart of Yaletown". I hope he goes away again soon!

I found this hotel after looking on Tripadvisor for a hotel in Vancouver. I had always stayed at the Hamptons in the past. After staying at this hotel the last week I would never stay anywhere different in Vancouver.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS-
I arrived early in the morning on a snow covered day and the staff greeted me and had everything done in about 2 mins for me to get up to my room. I went up to my room to put my bags down before I went back out to get a friend I was coming to visit. When I opened the door I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the room was. It reminded me of the W chain of hotels. The room was not huge but very well designed and the washroom was to die for. When I got back from picking up my friend and sat on one of the beds I realized how incredibly comfortable the bed was. The next morning I almost didn't want to get out of bed I was so comfy.

Staff-
|As with most times I stay at hotels I don't know the city that well and ask a few questions the first day. I think this is the first time in recent memory that the staff actually made me feel like asking a question was a good thing rather then bothering them while they did work. Anytime I had any question or needed anything they were right on top of it. They even had coupons for when I went to the aquarium near by.

Area-
I had never heard of or been to yaletown where the hotel is located before this visit so I didn't know what to expect. I personally had never been a huge fan of Vancouver before largely because of the problem they have with run down areas and the poor everywhere but I was blown away by this part of town. It reminded me of Soho in new york or the hip and trendy spots in any city. It has tons of nice restaurants, bars, lounges and shops around it. Your also very close to all the sporting venues and if you need a ride they have a BMW 7 series that can drive you where you need to go.

OVERALL-
I personally am never intending to stay at another hotel when I am in vancouver. As long as there are rooms here I will be staying at this beautiful boutique hotel.
