This is a great hotel in Vancouver. I would say it's a 4 plus.
We loved the room - which was a standard room. The little amenity kit in
the bathroom was similar to those of a 5 star hotel.
Bed: just perfect. loved it. Front desk agents were friendly and
helpful.
Would definitely come back to this hotel.

We stayed for three nights as part of a tour. Arriving off a 10 hour
flight to find the restaurant closed was not the best start, but things
did improve!
We had room service breakfast the first morning. It was excellent but
pricey, so only did it once. On our free day in Vancouver when we
weren't so rushed we wandered down to the White Spot for great food at
the right price.
We found all the staff at the Met to be extremely helpful and friendly.
The concierge even called a lift for us when we returned from a shopping
trip absolutely dripping wet (lovely Vancouver weather). Housekeeping
were also very obliging, and anything we requested (kettle, milk, extra
coffee etc) appeared within minutes.
The hotel is well placed for walking to Gastown, Robson Street, and
either Granville or Waterfront Skylink stations. I would certainly stay
there again if I have the opportunity.

Stayed here last January on our yearly stopover and decided to choose
the place again this year as we were quite happy with the previous stay.
BOOKING:
Both times have booked online with no issues; our bookings were exactly
what we chose.
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT:
Check in each time have been very quick. Everything was waiting and
after a quick credit card swipe we were on our way to our room. Checking
out each time has been a bit of a hassle as we’ve confused the front
desk staff a bit. Our flights always leave in the middle of the night so
we book, and expect to pay for, our room the whole day. The staff always
seem confused on what to charge us, (even though we indicate we are fine
with paying for a full night), and discussion ensues. Not a big deal,
but a small indication of the level of experience the front desk staff
has.
LOCATION:
Location is right in the heart of downtown, across the street from
Pacific Center Mall and 1.5 blocks from Robson Street. It’s super
convenient and the main reason we chose this hotel in the first place.
For the past two January’s there is construction occurring to the
building next door which disrupts foot traffic slightly, but we never
found it a hassle.
COMMON AREAS:
Non-descript would be the perfect way to describe the lobby. In fact if
you were rating hotel lobbies, it would probably rate in the bottom of
any list you were making. It is lifeless and not particularly
functional. We have never used the pool or gym during our visit so
cannot comment other than to say that they exist.
This place also has probably the most awkward car parks I have ever
encountered. If the place was ever full you’d really struggle to get
more than a mid-size car into it.
FOOD:
Each year the “Diva” restaurant closes during the first week of January
for renovations, so if you’re going during that time be aware. We did
have room service the one night and the food was decent, the one comment
I would make is that the portions were HUGE. There are plenty of
restaurant options in every direction of the hotel as well.
ROOMS:
We have opted for a Jr. Suite both times. The rooms are spacious and
face out onto Howe Street. The bed is huge and comfy and the bathroom
has both a tub and separate shower. I’m not sure if it is the same for
the normal rooms, but the suite’s have quite a large amount of closet
space; something that would definitely not be lost on a business
traveler spending a decent amount of time in Vancouver.
SERVICE:
The service provided is decent, but certainly not outstanding. There is
definitely a “pretentious” air among the staff as a general rule and
anytime you engage them there is a hint that you are “putting them out”
with any request.
OVERALL:
We love the location, and the rooms are very comfy. Also, we find the
hotel is great value. We walked across the street to the four seasons to
see there rooms and at the MET you get double the room for half the
price. Outside of maybe trying the new Shangri-La next time, we will
definitely recommend this place to others and will stay here again.

Set in the bustling downtown financial district, the Metropolitan Hotel
Vancouver has 197 rooms, each outfitted with marble baths and soaking tubs. The
hotel is completely wired for Internet connectivity so guests can keep up with
the latest medals ceremonies. A complimentary limo service runs visitors
downtown in the hotel’s swanky Jaguar. And those staying behind can use the
indoor heated pool or outdoor putting green.

The Metropolitan is not exactly a boutique hotel because it has 197 rooms, but
it feels like a boutique hotel. With its perfect downtown location, heated
swimming pool, steam room, squash court and fitness centre you can stay fit
while you work or play in Vancouver. It also has one of the city's best
restaurants, Diva at the Met and its own Jaguar to provide complimentary
downtown limo service to its guests.

I have stayed at this hotel three times and every time is just as great. Great
rooms, great amenities, great location. Great service from the sales, catering
and valet. Front desk, when busy, is a challenge but nothing to complain about.
Great for business and pleasure.

Stayed in the Met for 10 nights on business, and was extremely pleased with the
hotel. There's a good sized mall right across the street, which also has a
skytrain line for getting to places like the Metropolis Mall in Metrotown.
I was working in UBC, and there's a bus stop right outside the door for the #4
bus. My work colleagues stayed in the Empire Landmark, and complained about a 15
min walk to and from the bus stop. Nightlife is right down the street, as are
many other restaurants. The hotel's own restaurant, Diva, was expensive, but
pretty good. I opted for room service a few nights, and the level of service was
great. For such a large hotel, they have very friendly and accommodating staff,
who are always eager to chat. Free WIRED internet too, but I was too high in the
building to take advantage of the wifi in the lobby. Construction is taking
place next door, but I didn't notice it. In fact, the huge Canadian flag on the
hording was my landmark to find the hotel!
A huge thumbs up to the Met. Would recommend 100% if you get a good deal on the
price.

I booked at this hotel based on the reviews I read on this site. I'm so glad I
did.
Every element of the stay was wonderful. I've stayed at Four Seasons Hotels in
Canada as well and I enjoyed my stay here more.
The staff was great and very attentive. My wife and I went for our second
honeymoon on our 25th wedding anniversary.
I strongly recommend staying at the Metropolitan if you're going to Vancouver.

I stayed for two nights at the Metropolitan and found it to be a very nice hotel
with friendly staff. The location is great with Pacific Centre and the Skytrain
right across the street. I used the fitness facility and the health club
facilities and everything was in good working order and very clean. I only had
two slight problems. The first was that my room service coffee ($11.42) was
removed from my room while I was out for a few minutes. I called down and they
sent up a new pot immediately. The other was the construction noise. I had about
2 hours at the end of the day to relax before a dinner meeting, however there
was such a loud noise coming from the construction next door that I was unable
to relax and developed a whopper of a headache. I mentioned it to the desk clerk
and she apologized although there wasn't much she could do.
All in all, I was impressed. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the
facilities were clean, the location was good and the staff was friendly.

Arrived in Vancouver Saturday mid-day, for overnight before embarking on cruise
Sunday afternoon. Could not get early check-in, but hotel was very gracious,
receiving our luggage and responding to inquiries about the surrounding area.
Hungry and tired, we thought to perhaps hang out in the hotel restaurant over a
bite of lunch. Prices were outrageous, but we were prepared to indulge that. No,
what turned us out on unfamiliar streets was the breath-taking SNOBBERY of the
restaurant staff. The restaurant was open, but completely empty, and apparently
they wanted to keep it that way! Ignored us totally, leaving us standing at the
door, looking expectantly back at the staff clustered around the bar. . . It was
imPRESSive! We looked at the menu, ascertained that the restaurant was INDEED
"OPEN," so to speak, and finally left before our laughter overcame us. We were
guessing they were 'WAY better than some middle-aged US woman with her grey hair
in a bun! ! ! We wound up walking about three or four blocks out to the
Vancouver Museum of Art, where a very attractive little restaurant was serving
lunch - - and managed to score a little art, besides!
The next morning at checkout, we wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel while
we completed the (terrific) trolley tour we had begun the afternoon before. The
head bellman said they would be happy to keep it for us, but recommended that we
take it on to the dock and check it in, thus missing the crowds that would
develop that afternoon. GRAND advice, and we took it, leaving us free to just
sail through the rest of our day in Vancouver until time to get on the boat.
Vancouver is a spectacular city, and we wished so much that we had scheduled
another night or two there, so as to more fully enjoy the beauty. The trolley
tour runs in two loops, and is the ideal way to hit the sights quickly. With
extra time to get off and back on, we could have seen most of the city from that
tour. Even so, we got a thorough introduction to the great beauty and
fascinating charms of the city. A-Plus all the way.
