We stayed at the Metropolitan recently for 4 nights and were very satisfied with the room, service and general facilities. Hotel Location is good with easy access to shops and restaurants. It has its own quality restaurant (Diva at The Met) which is fairly pricey but is worth it for a special ocasion. Breakfast was fine but this can also be found in malls nearby.

Only problem was that there is a major refurbishment/rebuilding of another hotel next door and this causes some noise from 7am onwards finishing by around 5pm. We received no advance warning about this and it looks likely to continue for some time - probably into next year.

We stayed at the Metropolitan for 3 nights during a trip of the USA and Canada. We arrived into Vancouver from Seattle to rain unfortunately – well, they do call Vancouver ‘Brollywood’ I guess! We were warmly greeted by check-in and the concierge which was a great start. The hotel lobby is very clean and well presented.

We just booked a normal room but I had told them when I booked it that it was our first wedding anniversary so would appreciate the best room for the rate. We were given a room on the top floor which was wonderful. It was so spacious and had a HUGE bathroom with 2 sinks, a large shower and a hydro-bath. The room also had 2 sets of patio doors which opened out onto a double spacious balcony with a lovely view over the city.

The hotel provide you with umbrellas to use whilst you stay there as they know it can be rainy in Vancouver. Thankfully during our stay, the weather suddenly changed and they had an all-time record high for that time of year with glorious sun and blue skies.

The only set-back the hotel has at the moment (which isn’t the fault of the hotel) is that the Georgia Hotel 2 doors down are building ‘residences’ inbetween themselves and the Metropolitan. The building work didn’t bother us as we were on the top floor of the hotel and, at the moment, the building work is still deep into the foundations. It will become a huge problem to guests as the building work progresses further or if guests end up being lower down that we were so just a word of warning to you if you are considering staying – request a room away from the Georgia side and high up!

The hotels Hotel Location is superb. It’s directly opposite the Pacific Centre Shopping Mall which is soooo convenient. It’s also only about a 5 minute walk to Robson Street which has fantastic shopping. We went to the White Spot (a couple of blocks away) for a big hearty breakfast to keep you going all day! I’d definitely recommend going to Stanley Park and the Aquarium.

If you are looking for nice places to eat then I can definitely recommend Joe Fortes Seafood and Chop House and also HIGHLY recommend Lombardos on Smithe St. – it’s a really lovely Italian Restaurant and serve amazing pizza!

Visited the hotel as a part of a delegation. Check-in was not too fast and was almost able to handle that we were part of a delegation who paid for all.
Delivery of luggage was extremely slow - took an hour to handle my suitcase.
Breakfast was okay with almost food enough for everybody. Very limited choices of fruit and hot food. Compared with other hotels I was disappointed.

The Metro' is ideally located for exploring downtown Vancouver, but it doesn't come cheap, averaging about $240 a night for a nice enough room, but nothing spectacular. Its a nice 4 star, city centre hotel.Theres also limited parking on site, which costs $28 a day!!!the staff are of course very polite and helpful, as they should be in a hotel of this price range. The rooms are pretty large with a little balcony over looking Howe Street and its reasonably quiet, with the odd noise of your neighbour using the shower at 6am!!!!The downside is the building site next door, its like a mini ground zero and they start at 7am in the morning, its very noisey. We stayed at 1st on Victoria day weekend, so never experienced the noise, we came back 2 weeks later and the noise was awlful. If you're paying nearly $500 for 2 nights stay, you dont want to be woken at the crack of dawn by banging and crashing from the builders.Nice hotel, but give it another 18months until the condo next door is finished!

Great hotel downtown Vancouver. We live locally and tried it out for a night to get away from the kids. Room was spacious with one bedroom, large living room and a separate bath/shower in the bathroom which we love. Lobby is tiny but adequate. We have also stayed at Sutton Place one bedroom and it is alot larger with a full kitchen if you need one. Staff were friendly. If you are a tourist try to find a local to ask for recommendations for dining, there are so many great restaurants within walking distance....Don Francesco's, Wedgewood lounge, etc. I overheard the concierge telling a couple to go to the food court for dinner, they persisted and he told them to go to the Keg which is okay but there are so many more interesting places!

When asked to pay C$4.25 per 15 minutes at Marriott around the corner, I looked for another hotel. Discovered the Metropolitan hotel. What a wonderful place. Everything here is first class and the price is reasonable. For example:
Local phone calls are free
Internet is free
Globe and Mail and other newspapers are free
Valet parking in the hotel is complimentary ( need to pay for parking of course)
Minibar is fully stocked, in fact one of the best I have seen world wide!
The bed is very comfortable
The bathroom has the best towels of any hotel I stayed at. Robe, sandals, shampoo etc is all first class. Special mirror for shaving
Free bottle of water
Staff is very friendly
The gym is well equiped and the business center is open 24 hours
Restaurant is top notch and the lounge is good while a little small
Definitely my next stop when back in Vancouver

We booked the Metropolitan Hotel based on the Hotel Location, great price and by reading the many positive reviews on Trip Advisor.

We stayed for one night last week at the hotel. When we arrived we were greeted right away by the valet, they were excellent. Although check in was at 3pm, we arrived around noon and thought we'd probably have to wait until we could get into our room.

As soon as we checked in we were able to get in the room when we arrived! They also upgraded us to a newly renovated room. Hotel staff were very friendly and before we stepped into our room I knew it was going to be a great stay.

The hotel is very clean and elegant looking. Our room was so comfortable! We loved the big bed and complimentary turn down service that tidy-ed up the room when we were out in the evening.

The bathroom was so spacious, so many nice mirrors. We also liked the little things like the alarm clock/mp3 player in the room.

The pool area was so nice with the windows up above. Even though it was raining outside it was so nice to take a dip in the pool and hot tub.

Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to check out the restaurant but since we enjoyed our stay so much, this will definitely be our Vancouver hotel that we'll go to again and also get to experience the restaurant.

Did I mention how great the Hotel Location was? Right downtown! Everything is convenient walking distance.

We visit Vancouver about every 6 weeks from the interior of British Columbia. We searched for - and have now found - the perfect hotel to call "home" for our Vancouver weekends - the Metropolitan. The rooms at the Metropolitan are spotless, large and very well appointed. The staff is always accommodating and the hotel is very well situated for walking in the downtown or gaining easy access to major routes out to the suburbs. We have stayed in other very nice hotels such as the Hotel Vancouver and the Sheraton Wall Centre, but the Met beats them all and is generally a little less expensive. We highly recommend the Metropolitan - a great find - whether staying for business or pleasure!

My family stayed here on our way back from Whistler & we have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel. The Hotel Location is incredible- right in the heart of town mere blocks from Robson St, and right across the road from the fabulous Pacific Centre.
The rooms were beautifully appointed, with very comfy beds & beautiful large bathrooms.
The star perks promotion they have running currently makes you feel extra special, as does the impeccable service!

Loved this hotel as it was very well appointed with great sized rooms and well furnished. We were in a higher room and had a huge bed which was lovely. Bathroom was large and very nice also. The room was kept very clean and linen was changed each day. The Hotel Location is excellent, a block from Robson St, facing the Pacific Mall, a few blocks from Gastown, the train and ferry terminals. The staff were great also. I would definately recommend it and stay again if I return to Vancouver!!

We stayed here when we first arrived in Vancouver on our way to Whistler and again on our way back. It was a fantastic experience both times. First the reception staff were exceptional, going out of their way to help - both in terms of getting interconnecting rooms for us and ensuring we had the same configuration on our return, even though it was not specified on the reservation. They were friendly, helpful and very welcoming and we were also able to change the dates of our internet reservation without charge [although we did end up staying an extra night]. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed, although not exceptionable. There is construction work going on next door and a note in the room explaining but it did not interfere with our peace and quiet. The hotel restaurant is first class and I would stay here again just to be able to dine there! We have 2 teenage sons though and admittedly it did not really suit them, but then they only had to cross the road to be in the Pacific Place Shopping Centre which had a foodcourt to suit their tastes. The boys enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and the gym was good. The hotel is in an excellent position for walking anywhere in the downtown area, Gastown, the ferry to Granville Island etc. We would all be very happy to stay here again
