We were looking for something nice downtown and this fit the bill
perfectly. The staff, from the bellhop to the counter service personnel,
to the door man were incredibly helpful and nice. We were there the
weekend before the Olympics so maybe they were instructed to be extra
nice. The elevators were efficient and the rooms came equipped
with all the amenities you'd expect: flat screen tv (though no extra
channels like HBO, etc.), hairdryer, safe, iron, and plenty of storage.
The king size bed with the millions of pillows was also a dream to
return to after a day of walking around.
The only con I felt was its proximity to where all the action was,
closer to Robson St area. It's only about 5 blocks away but it was
uphill and with a baby in tow wasn't real convenient. Other than that,
we loved our short stay and would definitely return

I didn't really like the Marriott Pinnacle. I was surprised that it
received 4 diamonds. It didn't seem like a 4 diamond resort. The room
was small and amenities sparse.
The hotel did not offer any movie selections which was annoying.
The light switches were strange - in order to turn on the bathroom light
you had to turn on a strangely positioned light in the bedroom hallway.
I guess it was based on a master switch, but it was annoying.
Essentially the bedroom light had to be on in order to turn on the
bathroom light.
I was also surprised that they didn't have the comfy "Marriott beds".
Our unpleasant experience was most likely intensified by the fact that
they were testing the fire alarm while we were there.
The location was fine, the view was great, and the staff was friendly.Reviews of the Marriott Vancouver Pinnacle Hotel

our stay included July 1, Canada Day. Booked a room with a harbour view. In the
evening we had a fabulous view of the fireworks over the harbour (with a glass
of wine in hand) and did not stand with the crowds. Marriott did a fantastic job
as i requested a room with a good view. I'd highly recommend if you plan to
visit next July 1

I stayed here for one night on 12/26 with a friend after placing a bid through
Priceline. The location is great, only a few blocks to many things to see/do.
The room was clean and updated. The room included a wireless phone (you don't
find that in the states), and the bathroom had both a separate tub and shower.
The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful, recommending restaurants to
try and even helping us to find local bars on a map I had heard about prior. He
also let us know that we should park in the garage, but not as a hotel guest as
it would save us money ($5 for the entire weekend vs. $26 a night as a hotel
guest.) Be sure to park in level P3 or lower, as the elevators to the hotel
don't go to the higher levels. Everyone here was extremely friendly!

The hotel is nice, the view is really beautiful particularly with a harbour /
north shore view. However, what really left an impression on me was the staff.
They are professionally in their appearance, manner, and how they do their work.
However, they are also down to earth, nice, and a pleasure to deal with. The
young lady that checked us in was great, but later on, when she was finding out
some store hours for us, the other young lady at check in went outside in the
cold, in just her normal business attire, to flag us a cab. The woman in the
concierge lounge had lots of work to do, but kept up with it, still made the
effort to thank me when I put our plates where they were to go, was very
personable and knew how to balance making the guests feel welcome and still keep
up with making sure there was food and drink.
We had room service - twice - and it was brought properly and in a timely
manner. The woman who checked us out was so charming we wanted to come back.
I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and most of the time I run into staff that is
pretty good...but I've stayed twice at this hotel...and I really liked the
staff, they made me feel welcome.

My wife and I stayed here for just one night, prior to our cruise. Even though
we landed YVR after dark, we decided to try the airport shuttle instead of a
taxi and were dropped off just across the street...no problem.
I echo the other review about possible check-in lines being hit or miss...we had
no problem...very brief wait. I was traveling on a discounted rate, and was
fortunate to be upgraded to practically the top floor with a waterview...very
nice. Our stay here was very brief, but we found the staff to be very helpful,
and especially appreciated one of the young bellman's suggestions to try a
nearby grocery market/eatery (very upscale with cheeses from all over the
world).
The bedding was great, the location was excellent for us. Would we have been
staying here at regular rate? Probably not....as it was, however, we very much
enjoyed the place and I recommend it if the rate suits you.

I am a Marriott Rewards Platinum member and I spend 100+ nights a year on the
road. This hotel is a slightly above average Marriott in comparison of the other
Marriott's that I have stayed at. I stayed for four nights at this Marriott
hotel. I have stayed at this hotel in the past.
Value: At $ 139.00 CAD (a trade show rate) plus taxes per night was a good
value.
Location: The location of the hotel was very good for me based upon my itinerary
for my trip. It took less than 20 minutes (non-rush hour) for a taxi ride (~$ 30
CAD) from the airport. You can take the monorail from the airport within two
blocks for $ 2.00 CAD.
Front Desk Service: I have to give the front desk a good mark in regards to
service.
Room: I had a room on the 30th floor. The size of the room that I had was small
to average. The shape of the hotel isn’t rectangle…there are curves and some
rooms are smaller than others depending upon their location. The bathroom in my
room was very small…it was for one individual only…it would have been impossible
for two adults to be in the bathroom at the same time. When I stopped by the
room of a business associate, the bathroom in his room was much bigger than
mine.
Room Desk: It has new Marriott desk\workspace. There were several outlets,
various inputs to the TV, a CAT5 outlet and etc. It was outstanding.
Refrigerator: There was no refrigerator in the room.
TV: The TV was a flat screen. One of the two problems that I encountered was
with the TV. When I arrived into my room around midnight on my first night, I
discovered that the remote control didn’t work (batteries were dead) and you
couldn’t use the controls (i.e. channels) on the TV…it was replaced the
following morning. After a long flight, I like to rewind before hitting the
sack. A few days later, the remote control stop working and they replaced it
again. They need to check the batteries.
Bed: It was very comfortable.
Billing: Within minutes of entering my hotel room, I signed up for the Wired for
Business plan…high speed Internet service and free local and long distance
(Canada and US) phone calls. The cost was $ 15.95 CAD per day (24 hours). This
is a good deal since you can easily rack up $ 50 in roaming fees per day if you
are using a US based cellular phone service and cell phone in Canada. After I
signed up on line for this service, I immediately called the front desk to
confirm my Wired for Business purchase as well. When checking out, there were $
200 CAD of long distance phone calls to the US (the US based phone calls were
listed on my bill) and at first, the person didn’t want to take off the charges
by telling me that these calls were not US phone numbers and etc. Finally, they
took the charges off.
AC\Heat: There is a thermostat in the room and the temperature in the room was
controlled to my likings.
Wake-up Calls: Most hotels have a system that automatically makes the wake up
calls. An actual person made my wake-up calls. One time, I hit the wrong button
when picking up the phone therefore I didn’t answer the call…within a few
minutes, they made a second call.

Right off the bat, I have to say that I horde Marriott points when I travel for
business and redeem them to stay at Marriott hotels for free when I travel for
leisure. On this trip to Vancouver I stayed at the Pinnacle for free, for two
nights, and my conclusion is that I probably wouldn't have stayed here if I had
to pay for it. I don't think any hotel is worth its rack rate . But having said
all that, I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is close to everything
(waterfront, Stanley Park, Robson Street, Davie Street, Chinatown, etc.), the
staff is attentive, housekeeping is spot-on, view is amazing (24th floor looking
northwest). The room even came with a free umbrella that saved my behind as I
didn't pack one and it poured the whole time I was in Vancouver.
