My partner and I stayed at The Listel Hotel in Mid December 2011. The
hotel was in the perfect location, surrounded by wonderful restaurants,
convenience stores and other great shops.
The room was a good size and very warm. I did have a problem with the
cleanliness though. The top sheet was stained and there were still hairs
on the pillows and the towels. Once I complained to the front desk staff
everything was put right and I had no further complaints about the
cleanliness.
The art in the hotel was lovely to look at and the use of a computer and
internet in the lobby was nice.
If I had one major gripe about the hotel, it would be the parking fee.
They charge CAD$26 for parking (I already thought this was high) and
then they add 36% taxes (Is that even legal) and the final charge for
parking worked out to CAD$35.00 - an exorbitant amount in my opinion. It
cost me less to hire the vehicle per day. I landed up parking down the
road and running every few hours to ensure the meter never ran out. A
small inconvenience but much cheaper.
Other than that, I would recommend the hotel.

I emailed and called the hotel a few times before making a reservation.
At all times the staff responded immediately to my questions and offered
suggestions about touring Vancouver. The Listel in on a busy street
lined with restaurants and shops of varying costs. The hotel is very
nice - large rooms for a city. We stayed in standard rooms ( there are
two other levels of room). The only drawback was there were very few
drawers to unpack into - shelved wooden baskets instead. Attractive but
not too practical. VERY NICE art all over the hotel - from the lobby to
the small attached gallery there were sculptures, paintings,
photographs. Much less expensive than the name brand hotels and a nicer
experience. Just be aware of the crazy tax rates in Vancouver.

We enjoyed our stay at the Listel hotel - had a great deal with Groupon
that really made it worth while. It's located in a perfect area andt he
rooms are clean and bed is comfortable. The lobby was decorated for
Christmas and we found the staff very helpful and friendly.

We stayed here overnight for a city break from life on the island. It
was pleasant enough but absolutely not worth the rack rate - we used a
coupon. The wine tasting is a nice touch. The location is on the edge of
Downtown and a fair walk to the West End or Stanley Park

The Good:
-- Location. nicely located about the center of the city, with
convenient access to downtown as well as Stanley Park, Chinatown and
Gastown.
-- Live jazz on the weekend, free wine tasting, friendly and helpful
staff, nice artwork around.
The acceptable:
Room: I think I ended up in one of the older rooms here. The furniture,
the tv and the accents were a bit older. The room was otherwise nicely
cleaned, efficiently designed and quiet. I did get a good rest.
Wifi: The reception was fine, even though I was in a corner room.
Gym: i used the gym in the building, which was sufficient for what i
wanted to do. There were 3 cardio and 1 weight stations. I was the only
one there which also made it comfortable. I haven't tried the pass to
the fancy gym.
The Bad: can't think of anything.
I'm quite averse to bad surprises when I'm on business travel. My
impression is that this is a very reliable hotel, with a few nice perks
to make your stay enjoyable. Would stay again.

I regularly stay in this beautiful small hotel in downtown Vancouver.
Has comfortable rooms, including the special touch of window
seats/lounges. The art work in the rooms, halls and lobby is
spectacular, including Aboriginal artwork from the Museum of
Anthropology. The rooms have great minibar selections. The hotel offers
regular wine tastings in a gallery off the lobby, a great opportunity to
relax, enjoy art, and chat with others before dinner. The hotel's
restaurant O'Doulls has delicious westcoast fare, great service and is
wonderfully spacious. So many additional tailored touches make this
hotel special, such as the option of free coffee delivered to your room
in the morning. The internet service is not an additional cost. All of
this makes a visit to this hotel a pleasure. And for me it is also
important that this hotel is environmentally conscious - its cosmetic
products are not delivered in plastic containers that end up in the
landfill, and multiple types of recycling are observed. |
