I don't recommend this hotel to anyone...
No comment but tons of complaint... very small room, especially the
bathroom when you have to use the toilet, you have to spread your leg in
to the bath tub, and I really mean it...very tight parking...

Not one single thing I will never go back
This particular hotel is very old and tired. The wall paper is torn, the
repairs to the room were very poorly done and of poor quality. The
linens on the beds were very old and outdated. The walls are so thin
that you hear everything that goes on in the hallway so next to
impossible to get good night sleep. What was worse was the smell of the
room.

Noisy guests next door were an issue because of very poor sound
insulation between rooms. My expectation of a level of quality
associated with the Howard Johnson name was not met.

The location was one of the main reasons I chose this place, coupled
with the very reasonable price.
The hotel is a little beaten up and has seen better days, especially in
areas like the elevator and halls. The rooms are small but served the
purpose.

Booked 4 nights recently & was able to take advantage of a special rate
for staying 3+ consecutive nights.
We were on the 5th floor & the room was clean w/o smells. The main light
didn't work & we were having to turn on the bathroom light 1st before
being able to walk further into the room to use lamps. The bed was
comfortable (altho 1 pillow was lumpy & flat, whereas the other was firm
& plush), the bathroom had complimentary toiletries, the towels were
fine (far from threadbare) & the extractor fan did its job. Besides the
main light being broken, the safe was flashing "batt" so we didn't risk
using it, and only 2 of the room's electrical outlets looked safe enough
to use (eg the bathroom's plugs looked half-melted!).
Our room had an unobstructed view towards the N.E., so we got a lot of
morning sunlight & mountains and leaving the window open @ night or
during the weekend was really quiet. However, there is a construction
site operating M-F adjacent to the hotel which can be disturbing if
you're a light sleeper, so be aware if you are expecting and/or require
dead silence to sleep.
In-room wifi was perfectly fine, altho each day you need to get a new
access code from the front desk which is valid for 24hrs.
Regarding parking, you will need to get a parking pass which is valid
for the duration of your stay & keep it visible within the car. I did
appreciate that there was a security camera pointed towards the parking
spaces which are closer to the exit. Also, the parking lot is only
accessible via stairwell from the lobby, so if you have any luggage it's
better to momentarily stop @ street level where the front door is to
unload baggage, and then drive up the ramp to park.
If you're relying on public transport, however, don't worry as there is
a #19 bus that runs directly in front of the hotel which goes East into
Metrotown mall in Burnaby, or through Chinatown (past the Amtrak
station) to downtown all the way into Stanley Park. It's also only 3
blocks from Broadway, upon which myriad busses going East/West run and
so you're easily connected to the Canada Line Skytrain from YVR airport.
There was complimentary breakfast but I didn't eat it & the BF only
tried it once...it's a continental (cold) breakfast FYI.
On our last day, the front desk lady kindly allowed us to have a later
checkout (noon vs 11am) so we were able to have a leisurely breakfast
out before coming back to finish packing up.
Overall I was quite wary of this place beforehand but it's honestly not
as horrendous as some of the previous reviews have said...perhaps we
were lucky but for our stay it was decent & in fact for the
price/location we may consider staying here again.

The absolute only things positive were that I was able to get a room
without any reservations and it came with free parking. I should've
known at that point that something was wrong. Bathroom was filthy, there
was no sink stopper and it made a loud sound like someone was plunging
the toilet, the springs to the beds felt like they should've been
replaced 20 years ago, the carpets were super old and dirty, and the
rooms smelled funny. Basically, I strongly suggest that you look
somewhere else!

When we were looking at reviews of this place we saw a few mixed ones so
we went with it anyway. Worst. Decision. Ever. The room was small and
airless, no fans were provided, the exhaust system in the bathroom
didn't work the bed was ok but the pillows were terrible, they looked
like the belonged as decorative pillows on a sofa they were so small.
The breakfast was terrible, according to the review comments the
management say they have improved the breakfast, if this is an
improvement then i'd hate to see how it was before. the milk for the
cereal was not on ice, therefore warm and undrinkable, the pastries
looked and tasted like they were 3 days old and the coffee tasted like
muddy water, we stayed here for 4 days and we chose to skip breakfast
for 3 of those days. Your best bet is to head to he cafe down the road
that does a %5.95 brekky, its is much tastier!

Hotel is pretty much a run down, depressed looking building...staff was
unfriendly and didn't help answer our questions...Continental breakfast
was a joke...Had to retrieve a voucher at the front desk only to find
out later that they were handing out vouchers to anyone off the street.
Overall, stay at the Best Western down the street. You will be glad you
did!!

The hotel is not a bad spot for a short stay in town.
Even though the position could be not the best, the area is pretty well
served by bus and it's very easy and fast to get downtown and back, even
at night.
The room was really small...the pictures on website really misleading
;-)
The breakfast is poor...food is not so fresh at all...and the crew of
the hotel is pretty rude.
Anyway for 95 dollars you can have your room with wifi and
breakfast...if you cannot find better deal, this could be a good choice

We were looking for something with a moderate price, with a parking lot
connected to the hotel (parking is expensive otherwise in Vancouver).
The price we got was very good. The rooms are tiny, old, no fridge, safe
which is not working and the bathroom has seen better days. Next to the
hotel is a construction site and it is pretty noisy in the early morning
(from 6 am).
The breakfast is served in a shabby old kind of bar and is not really a
breakfast (worst I have seen so far).
Nevertheless the rooms are clean and the receptionists very nice and
helpful. The pictures in the net are not showing the real condition of
this hotel. For this price it is ok though considering that it is close
to the center and no costs for parking and free WIFI.

Avoid this place....it is not even "just a place to sleep". The room and
linens were so dirty it made the thought of sleeping impossible. The
rooms it self is very tired. Arrived in the evening trying to check in
and had to wait for some runaway to call her parents in an attempt to
get a room for the night....not the best area...not the worst....but
that is the clientele. Towels in the room are so thin, using them after
a shower is difficult. The room was absolutely disgusting.....sheets
were not changed, it was a very bad 3 days.
Again...believe the bad reviews, I just left here and everything about
this place says "find another hotel".

We stayed here for the price, and as it was the cheapest place going it
was OK. The advertised pool was not available due to "refurbishment".
The room was very dated, and there were hairs in the bathroom on the
wall and floor. A lot of the TV channels were not tuned in. A fair walk
into town but manageable. Left early to catch the Amtrak cascades so
missed breakfast. There was building work on an adjacent plot but this
did not disturb me. My friends room was however next to an ice machine
and people using that disturbed them throughout the night. The free Wifi
kept cutting out - I had to log in about every 5 mins.
