I stayed at the Holiday Inn Centre for two nights over a weekend in July. To say
it upfront...I was perfectly happy with the experience.
But other travellers should keep in mind, despite this being the Holiday Inn
Centre, it is not located in Downtown Vancouver. It is south of Downtown on the
other side of False Creek, with a beautiful view of Downtown, though. To get to
the major tourist-attractions you either need a car or you have to use public
transport, which is actually quite good in Vancouver. Restaurants, banks,
convenience stores, etc. are all within walking distance of the hotel.
The hotel itself was reaonably piced considering this was peak travel season. It
is a typical concrete hotel monolith, probably built in the 60's or 70's, but
very well maintained. My standard room on the 12th floor with a kingsize bed was
quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable with an abundance of soft pillows.
The A/C was a bit loud. I had roomservice one night, which was delicious and
reasonably priced. High-speed internet was not wireless but truly high-speed.
Parking was also fairly cheap by Vancouver standards....9$ per day. I'd
definitely come again.

My daughter and I just recently stayed at the hotel. March 18th to 19th. I
booked the executive suite for an extra $40 and it was nice. The fluffy down
comforter and pillows were so wonderful to sleep on! And there was a pillow
order form for those that had a preference for pillow firmness.
The decor was of course a bit dated because the hotel is older but it was very
clean. We had a problem with the coffee maker and I couldn't turn the shower on
but within 10 minutes of phoning the front desk we had a tray of coffee sent up
and a repair man to fix the shower. They aim to please.
We had a complimentary breakfast buffet with our room. We didn't get down there
til 10:00 am and it wasn't very warm and there was just slim pic kin's so I'd
advise getting there sooner.
I think I would just get a standard room next time and order breakfast from the
restaurant or go out.
We were very close to Granville Island. Take the bus, It's so hard to find
parking! I would definitely stay here again

We stayed at the Hotel inn Vancouver Centre for two nights in February for a
Scrabble Tournament. It is a good hotel for the price. If you just want
somewhere to lay your head at night and get a shower then its fine. The decor is
a little out dated, but it was clean over all. The staff are nice and helpful.
There is a taxi stand right outside the hotel and there is always at least one
waiting. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, we went to an Italian place
about a block east of the hotel on Broadway called Favouritos based on a
recommendation from the front desk (It was amazing! pretty reasonable prices as
well) and we ate breakfast at the Denny's about 6 blocks to the west of the
hotel on Broadway.
There are computers in the lobby area where you pay 3 dollars for 15 minutes of
access and you can make an account to save any unused time for use up to 60 days
later. The pool was clean, and pretty nice for the hotel. The weight room was
good as well. There is no Casino in the basement, there hasnt been for about 4
months. Overall it was a pleasant stay. The Hotel is in sort of a noisy area,
alot of traffic goes by, the street crossing signs beep, and a few ambulances go
by every once and a while. But it just sort of blends into the background. There
are a few homeless people around, but they just ask you for change, nothing
else. They don't want anything to do with you really. So, yeah it was good stay,
ok hotel for the price.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and overall we enjoyed ourselves. The
check-in was fast and polite and we got a complimentary upgrade to an executive
suite with a king sized bed and balcony. The room was very comfortable and the
bed awesome. I have never slept in something so soft and comfortable. The
bathroom was okay, we found the water pressure to be very average but the shower
did have a mult-function shower head.
The room service was fast, efficient and the quality of the food was excellent.
It was reasonably priced as well. We had breakfast via room service costing $30
for two people. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs, next to the lobby but
DON'T try it - we had a "hot" breakfast there on our first morning and it was
cold and very unappealing. Reading some of the reviews on this website, it seems
that other guests have had a similar experience. When I checked out, I mentioned
to the staff about the poor restaurant breakfast and they were very good about
it, reimbursing me for it.
The hotel is about 30 minutes walk from downtown Vancouver but i felt it was a
safer place than the city. There is a London Drugstore a street away, as well as
a starbucks and several ethnic restaurants nearby.
I would recommend this hotel for a short stay, especially for a business trip
and sightseeing.
