You can get to this place by monorail, skytrain?, from the airport -
very cool! What we saved on car rental we spent at the attached
monster-sized mall. Rooms were clean, beds comfy, and any staff we
encountered were great.
It is situated adjacent to the Metrotown complex, which includes over
500 stores & 12 theatres.
Breakfast was more than we expected. We will be back! Guest Reviews of the Holiday Inn Express Burnaby at Metrotown

I don't write these as a rule, but I was very impressed. The hotel is in a GREAT
location - could walk under cover to the large mall and to Skytrain. And
Skytrain is awesome, I could get to the Granville Mall downtown Vancouver
without getting wet! My room even had a fridge and a microwave that came in
really handy. Check out the breakfast, its better than you think it would be. A
bright spot in a very rainy place.

I stayed one week in last June, 06. It was nice. I like the location, especially
the connection to the Metrotown Mall and the supermarket. Also, the subway
station is very close and a basement parking are secured. I did not like the
room size and the view from the windows.

the hotel staff. They were friendly and helpful in every way. The room was
perfect and very clean. We can't say enough about the free breakfast bar on the
second floor...what a treat! When we heard that there was a continental
breakfast, we were expecting a few donuts and luke-warm coffee. Instead, we were
treated to a wide variety of hot cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, fresh fruits, cereals,
toast, hard-boiled eggs, assorted milks and juices. At checkout time, we
discovered we had purchased more than we could pack in our suitcases, at the
mall next door. The housekeeping staff kindly located an empty box for us. One
last comment, During our stay, they were replacing a section of carpet in the
lobby and there was a notice that the exterior of the hotel would soon be
painted. It seems that the hotel is doing everything possible to remain
attractive.

Excellent location and very reasonable prices. All staff that we
interacted with were very friendly and looked happy to be at work! Rooms
and hotel were very clean and modern. Our bed was the most comfortable I
have ever slept on, like a cloud. I am now searching to buy the
mattress. Because of this stay, when going anywhere I would first check
for a Holiday Inn location. Our entire stay was incredible, and even
with the skytrain terminus across the street, I had an amazing sleep
every night. Thank you. Can't wait to come back.

It's not the skytrain. I was put in 429 which is above the bus depot and
loading dock ('beep! beep!' sounds of loading vehicles). It felt like
the window was open. It was brutal. Couldn't relax enough to get to
sleep, was woken up early because of the noise. Was a wreck at the
client site the next day - yay! Next day they put me in 511 insisting it
was the quietest end of the hotel. Again, above buses pulling in and out
and this time I can see loading dock 4. I kept insisting that it was
just as noisy. They let me try out 517 and alas....snore. Some staff
were helpful, some were not as far as helping me GET SOME SLEEP.
Otherwise, the rooms are great although squishy, they appear newly
renovated. However, the beds were so soft my back hurt the next day and
that rarely happens in the multiple years I've stayed in business
hotels, traveled and stayed in hostels.
Great location as noted. AMAZING SUSHI PLACE NEXT DOOR!!! Salmon sashimi
like butter lol. FREE WIRELESS.

The hotel was very comfortable and felt nice and modern. Before I booked
the room, I'd read other reviews where people said the building was
remodeled, but still felt like it was from the 70's on the inside. I
didn't really get this feeling at all and neither did the girlfriend.
We booked a room with a queen size bed. The room felt a little bit
small, but since we only used the room to sleep and were otherwise gone
all day, it didn't really matter. The bed was really comfortable, but
what was great was the bathroom. The shower felt great and refreshing
and the bathroom had ample space.
Another great thing was the free breakfast. It had lots of variety
including Yoplait yogurt, english muffins, freshly made eggs and hash
browns, fruit and some other stuff. This was a nice surprise since most
free hotel breakfasts just consist of Rice Krispies cereal and warm milk
that's been sitting out. Granted, the quality wasn't like something
you'd get at a real restaurant, but if you want to eat quickly and be on
your way, plus not spend a fortune on breakfast, it's definitely a plus.
I would have given the hotel 4 stars, but it is kind of out in the
sticks a little bit. The drive into Vancouver and other touristy spots
like Stanley Park isn't bad at all, but since we were only in town for
the weekend, the commute back and forth took up a lot of valuable time.
Plus if you get tired in the early evening and want to rest at the hotel
for a little bit, it would be a pain in the rear end to drive back to
HIE from Vancouver, rest for a little bit, and then drive all the way
back to Vancouver. We had planned to do this, but by the time we were
feeling rejuvenated again, we didn't feel like making the long drive
back into town and decided to call it a night... kind of a shame when
you're on vacation and want to discover a new city...
