Stayed here with my wife and two kids in a deluxe room on the 11th floor. This
is a really wonderful hotel with great service from everyone I met in the Hotel.
We had Dinner in the main restaurant and the food and service was up there with
the best we have had in any restaurant never mind Hotel food. Location is really
cool with stunning views over the city and out to the islands and a dream for
anyone interested in planes. Our room had a spotting scope. Bathroom was huge
with separate bath and shower. Beds are as good as they get, room was totally
soundproofed with no noise from the Airport. Really handy to get back into the
Airport in the morning no need for shuttle buses. The Hotel is also located
close to the new Canada line terminal, so it makes it easy to get into the city
or into Richmond. It has a small pool for kids and gym and spa. We will be back.

We stayed at this property for only one night. We got a great deal at $129 per
night--we belong to the 'Fairmont Club'. The location was about 25 min. from
downtown Vancouver. The hotel was easy to find--just follow the 'airport' signs.
Parking was a bit of a problem, though. We chose not to use the valet parking
($25) and used the economy self-parking lot at the airport ($15 per day). The
self-parking lot was good--but it is a bit of a trek to get to it. One actually
has to walk across a few lanes of traffic and through some trees!
Views from the floor-to-ceiling windows were great! It was very fun to watch the
planes take-off and land. And, there was no noise!
The room was absolutely lovely. Super clean. Well-laid out. A lot larger than
expected. We had a smoking room--one could definitely smell the remnants of
lingering smoke. But, the bathroom was really great. Separate toilet.
Stand-alone shower. Jacuzzi tub.
Overall, it was a great stay, and we would stay there again! (Especially if were
catching a flight!)

Great Bar, and restaurant. Very nice breakfast and worth the extra $$$$. Super
convenient for flights. The new rail system due to open in the fall will make it
accessible to the sites without a $30 cab ride. Still worth the hassle free
convenience to land or catch a flight!

Nice hotel, but we found that the shower didn’t work. Hotel staff supplied
another room to use and our breakfast was complimentary, so all in it was a
pleasant experience. Really good location (ie, actually in the airport) for an
early flight out, or a late flight in. I would stay there again.

Great hotel, incredible rooms. Wish I could stay here more often.
Rooms have runway views, yet are so incredibly quiet. Bathrooms are huge and
beautifully appointed. What can you say about this hotel - take a look and you
will know what I mean. The hotel is a welcome sight after flying all the way
from Sydney, Australia and with delays, the bed was heaven. Watching television
from your bath tub is again, heaven. The room itself was very nice with views
overlooking the runway, watching a Cathay Pacific 747 take off just near you is
cool.

We stayed one night at the Fairmont between flights from Toronto and to
Anchorage. We were upgraded to a Deluxe room upon check in. The room was very
spacious with a huge bed (unfortunately we weren't in the room long enough to
truly enjoy it) and a large bathroom. All the rooms face the runways, and we
were assured that we wouldn't hear planes and we didn't. One of the best
features which is only available in Deluxe rooms is the telescope which allowed
us to watch the planes come in and take off close up. Really cool.

The Fairmont Vancouver Airport is THE place to stay prior to a morning departure
to the US. The hotel is right above the US departure check in gates. This allows
one to balance sleep and the time needed to navigate the sometimes crowded and
chaotic departure scene for morning outbound flights to the US.
We are members of the Fairmont Presidents Club, and this resulted in us being
upgraded to the Gold Floor. This resulted in a great experience and delivery of
an in room breakfast before our early morning departure (before the club lounge
opened). Staff was helpful, pleasant and courteous throughout the stay.
President's Club membership won't always result in an upgrade to the Gold Floor,
but it does provide complimentary internet access.
We were given a north facing room. This enabled a great view of the airport, the
North Vancouver mountains, and the Strait of Georgia, where we could spot BC
Ferries and cruise ships on the horizon. Departing the hotel the next morning, I
noted from the elevator lobbies that the south facing floors had views of the
Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands, and presumably (not cannot verify) on a clear
day, Mt. Baker.
Sound from the airport was not an issue. We did hear one plane depart early in
the evening, but given the hotel's location, there are not many planes departing
the gates below the hotel in the evening (the hotel is above the gates for US
flights).
Rooms are large with exceptionally large bathrooms with separate walk in showers
and toilet areas. This is not the reason one will choose this hotel, but it is
an added plus.
Overall, an excellent choice for an overnight stay prior to departure.

This is the first Fairmont I ever stayed at! It's the one that ignited my
devotion to all that is "Fairmont". It all started when I won a free
certificate for a night at this Fairmont. Erik and I decided to it would be fun
to use for Valentine's day weekend. We drove up north on Friday night, stayed
with my parents, then left the next morning to cross the border. On the drive
up, we thought we should call and find out about rooms with a Jacuzzi.
Normally, if you're staying at this location, I'd say you were probably flying
in or out of the airport. The hotel is right in the airport! It's pretty
awesome. At that time, it had been the only hotel I'd ever seen right in an
airport (and really, the only other one I've seen since then was a Hyatt at MCO).
So, we check in and the lady at the front desk sees the notes on our reservation
and calls for another staff member to take us on a tour of the rooms we could
upgrade too.
The first room was really cool. It was a Signature room. It was a definite
upgrade from a regular room - it had a runway view and a Jacuzzi in the bathroom
with one of those cut-out windows so you could see out the actual window while
you were in the Jacuzzi (or the tv if you really wanted).
The second room was not as fancy, but it was a Fairmont Gold room. It's the
concierge level, so you've got a dedicated concierge, a separate check in/out
desk, and a lounge where they serve a continental breakfast, afternoon and
evening canapés and free (non-alcoholic) drinks. Oh, and the room had a Jacuzzi.
And the view was a little bit cooler. So, that's the room we went with. We
reasoned that we could make a dinner out of snacks and we wouldn't have to pay
for drinks (soda) or breakfast, so why not?
The room even came with a pair of binoculars. That was super rad since our room
was RIGHT ON the airport runway! Honest to god, you could look right into the
plane from our room with those binoculars! The windows are made from some super
heavy duty noise proof windows. Other than the blinking lights on the runway,
you'd never know what was right outside your window at night, it was so quiet.
The king size bed is super
comfy, I could sleep for many, many days on that bed without feeling the need to
get up.
We didn't bring our laptop, but we could have accessed wi-fi at no cost if we
had.
Since we were at the airport, we decided to just relax and not go into
Vancouver-proper. It would have been about a half hour away or longer if we
opted to take the bus and leave our car parked at the airport. The Vancouver
airport is set-up that all the shops are located outside the security area, so
we weren't stuck with lame options like Burger King and Hudson News. Nope, there
were some cool shops, but we weren't there to do any shopping. There was a
liquor store - they were even having a liquor tasting! - so we picked up some
wine, and made our way back to our room.
We had a great time staying at this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
Definitely a nice option if you're flying in or out of the airport, without
having to worry about transportation. Heck, if you're flying out of YVR to a
warm weather location, you can even store your boots and jacket at the hotel for
pick-up upon your return! Because, really, it's such a downer having to take
your coat with you to the Caribbean.
I would definitely recommend the Fairmont Vancouver Airport for anyone looking
for first class accommodations around the Vancouver airport or even if you're
just looking for a fun and different place to stay for a night.
